I am in the bank, Guild Bank is open so I can donate to Guild.
Out of nowhere, a guard kills me.

Yes, I had a ton of stolen loot on me, but i never took something in that bank.
My loss: about 4K, not to mention repair costs and 3 purple items.

I did say guards need boosted, but I never said they need to r*** me while I am innocent.

I am NOT happy.

Did you make sure you had no bounty? Was it at 0?
They know if you have a bounty,and they'll get you no matter where you are.

Sorry, I'm taking that back... I had the worst day yesterday, a very bad night, and I had phone this morning my son in law had an accident, he got hit by a biker.

And OF COURSE the edit button is a no show.

You sure you didnt hit E a little too quickly and loot some coin or box on the table etc? Happens to me all the time.

Go to guild trader hit E E --> bounty acquired cos I just stole a frigging tomato I didn't notice was on the ground....

Don't the guards have an AoE effect called Riot Control? If someone near you triggered the guard, he might have gone nuts and used that skill.... it one shots people.

Otherwise you might have had a bounty on you, or the guard might be bugged and since you had stolen stuff on you it attacked you - while not having a bounty.

Waiting for your bounty to go off, even when it shows 0 it sometimes still active, untill a minute or two. So it's safest to wait a bit before going to a bank, or clearing your bounty at a fence to be 100% sure.

And I'm sorry to hear about your son in law - I hope he is safe.

Is it possible you accidentally stole something off the banker's desk before opening the bank up? That sort of thing is easy to do unless you use an addon to stop that from happening.

What also might have happened: Did you, before opening the bank open a shipment containing stolen goods? You will get a bouty if an npc is watching you while opening such shipments.

Reminds me of a line from Shawshank Redemption, "Everybody's innocent in here." The sad part about it, it's really kinda the truth in many cases. The guard was having a rough day, decided you looked like a criminal and felt threatened by your demeanor perhaps because of recent experiences which caused the guard significant mental trauma, and you just caught the blunt end of it.

Belgium was for a LONG time among the highest educational levels in the world.
Now, a reporter went into a university here, interviewing to-be teachers, last year.
He asked a few questions like: what is the Pythagorean theorem?
Who was Pythagoras?
Who was Hannibal?

Just the most idiotic of things, right?

You cannot believe how many failed even these basic questions.
And they are to become the teachers of my children, my grand children...

Yeah, that's a widespread problem these days. There's just no relating to the younger generation anymore. I tend to avoid people most days just because nobody where I live is on my level. imo guards should be kill able thats like playing gta and never being able to kill a cop.... just give them like 10mill health and verry hard to kill but now one shot you out the blue but be fun to go into a city and see like 10 people killing a guard then just make more guards come as the bounty get higher at least we can have some fun with them they are the most boring things make them usefull i mean yea they catch you take your bounty HOWWW AMAZING....they dony have to be easy to kill but they should also not one shot you just make them bland imo you could even make them insane hard to kill and make them drop goodies or something but just my opinion

But serious: already Guards are beyond sufficient: they are incompetent blind bats.
Making them killable will make the game even more exploitable (I consider this exploiting, since the income of thievery extremely surpasses questing rewards, and thievery has nada de niente risk, due to the guards being uberly unuseful.

The Guards need a heavy boost in IQ and perception, so that the risk is in balance with the income if succeeded.
You mentioned GTA5: here's an idea: raise your wanted level to 3, and see if you survive.
And DON'T CHEAT!
But you get my point.
