For people that might not be interested in a full-featured UI addon like Azurah, I have uploaded a tiny standalone addon called RP Target Frame which will simply remove the @accountname from the target frame with no configuration required whatsoever (besides making sure it is checked in your addon list).
Hope it helps!
You are a savior until they fix it base game side. Thank you so much!
When you are roleplaying, more often than not you will go into offline mode to try and hide from everyone on your character,. You don't want people walking in and immediately knowing who you are. Or you simply don't want to go into whisper hell. The new change to the nameplates is all fine and dandy until you get to that cringe-worthy section: The @ name viewer.
I can't be the only one that wants to bring in a new toon that wouldn't be outright recognized by the RP community because of an option that really doesn't need to be there to begin with. They have friends lists so you can have someones @ names on.
Wasn't there a single intern to look at and say "Hey guys, MAYBE we should, you know, not ruin the UI?", really? And even if no one in the office thought that maybe you should stay true to your initial proposal of a minimalist UI and make everything toggleable, a big number of players on PTS forums pointed that out, so I can't understand how this absolutely abysmal-looking change made it to live.
By the way, OP, this community is generally friendly to Role Players. Don't worry about saying you are one.
Evasion: Casting this ability and its morphs now requires that you wear 5 pieces of Medium Armor.
RP Target Frame just got an update!
I added a simple configuration menu to Addon Settings, and the option to hide the @accountname from the player interaction frame as well (the one when you are close and it says "Press to interact" where you get the wheel to trade, whisper, etc.).
You can toggle hiding the @accountname from either independently.
If anyone finds any more places to hide it let me know.
The @names showing are bad, cluttered and messy. The floating names are worse. I would never turn them on, they look like something from Wow in the mid 90s.
I don't think anyone asked for it, ever. I wonder if the people who are fine with it are also of the younger set and used to seeing so much useless information floating around they don't notice the artistic mess.
