Elves... Tamriel's True Rulers

Have you all ever noticed that no matter the Elder Scrolls game, elves tend to be the absolute best? Or that they tend be the most impressive in terms of feats?

For example, the Dwemer made the "Bronze God". And had also managed to create Dwarven automations that seem to be eternal (unless destroyed). The High Elves have done more accomplishments than I can even mention, and the Dark Elves are right behind them in phenomenal feats. Then you have the Orcs which are technically elves, and are the most feared in close-quarter-combat. Actually Orcs drive fear into anyone that encounters them, due to their amazing combat skills. And the list goes on and on when including the Bretons and Wood Elves, as well as Snow Elves.

So my question is, why is it not recognized better in ESO? Why aren't elves given higher respect NPC-wise, and why aren't they spoken more highly of?

Mankind will always show up and assume everything belongs to them. Just like our world history. Many hate the AD because they started Elder Scrolls Games in skyrim, and have the same bigotrys as nords, while the elves just want to take there ancestral homeland back from the human invaders.

The nords are elf sympathizers, they sided with the Dark Elves and because of that they will die like the elves.

Both of you completely misunderstand the situation. Humans don't destroy anything, we clean. The elf infestation is more akin to a cockroach infestation than any humanoid race. They are disgusting, they carry disease, and they are evil. I am simply doing my duty by brutally murdering every elf I find in Cyrodiil. It's a two sided war we are fighting, on one side we have the deadric infestation and on the other we have the elves.

Any of you who believe that "Elves are noble" will suffer the same fate as those soulless creatures. For the life of me I can't understand why you would get in the way of progress.

Because Humans are the ones who usually control the empire and every time an elven race has been stupid enough to defy mankind, many have found their race driven to extinction, The Ayleids tried to subjugate mankind and in return got wiped out by them, the Snow Elves attacked Saarthal and got nearly driven off the face of Nirn because of it, I don't even have to tell you what Happened to the Elves of Yokuda, Sure Altmer have magic but the Nords have the Thu'um which is vastly more powerful, also Nords do seem to be physically superhuman when it comes to strength and tolerance to pain (Check out the Cinematic where that Nord throws that guy several meters with 1 arm like he is nothing and even takes on several werewolves with his bare hands), Elves are just frail and weak by comparison and are most likely much smaller where it counts (Most likely the reason why Humans can reproduce much faster then them) Humans also seem to be the chosen ones among all races, most Dragonborn were Human, Most if not all Shezzarine were Human, the Majority of Gods when appearing on Nirn choose to do so in the quise of a Human, Some even physically choose to appear as Human constantly like the Daedric prince of Madness Sheogorath, seeing as Et'ada seem to have a superiority complex why do you think that is?

Also the Altmer seem to want to be like the Aldmer, which shows they can't handle change and are thus most likely the reason Tamriel is technologically degrading back into the Stone Age.

Except not really.

It's a weak spot in the lore, why the Ehlnofey war happened. The Annotated Anuad says, "For whatever reason".
Which isn't a good reason. The Loremaster probably had a migraine that night.

But the remnants of the Ehlnofey world belonged to both the Wandering and the Old; the Old simply didn't accept the Wandering back. It wasn't an invasion. The Wandering simply wanted to re-assimilate their culture and heritage.

Then a war, and the Wandering became Man, and the Old became Mer.
Tamriel is the ruins of Old Ehlnofey. The Wandering claimed Yokuda, Atmora, and Akavir.


So it's really the fault of the Mer for not welcoming back their old kinsmen. Man does have a substantial stake in Tamriel; it's their ancestral homeland, too.

yea heres one thing you forgot to mention, nords and altmer have decimated so many orsime that the orc race was near extinction.

it was the nords who conquered all races on tamriel including orsimer.

orcs most feared race? nope to other races orcs are feared yet for the most part have always been defeated.

nords? nearlly exterminated every race, CQC nords destroyed their foes, it is said by historians that a few nords have torn down cities with their mighty thu"um.

nords are the greatest blacksmiths greatest fighters and the greatest swordsman tamriel has ever seen.

I only make elves because the other races are all ugly. I hide the pointy ears behind long hair and pretend they're human though.

Kinda a battle of odds really. There are more elven species than anything else. Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, Orsimer, Dwemer, Falmer, Maomer. I imagine I forgot one or two.

Not to mention by the 4th era, someone who is the most powerful Thu'um user to ever live is a Nord, the First Dragonborn Miraak.

The idea of Elves being the 'superior' or 'older' or more intelligent/wise etc. is very common in fantasty lore (see Lord of the Rings!). A lot of fantasy settings (again, see LoTR) treat Elves as the dwindling power at the time of player-seen events, ceding power to the 'man-like' races, to which we players would be somewhat expected to identify with.

In contrast to a lot of alternative fictions, the Elves (particularly the Aldmer and their Altmer descendants) in ES seem to have taken a long-term stance of superiority over other races; viewing them as inferior. As such, I suppose their respect amongst the 'lesser races' has diminished, and in some places (*cough* Nords *cough*) fallen to out-right vilification. For Altmer this is further exaggerated by the general affinity they have towards magic; the 'lesser races' look upon this often with suspicion and become more cautious of the somewhat self-proclaimed superior race with advanced powers of magicka. It's not uncommon for lesser folk to rally up against the self-determined elite.

In relation to the classification of Mer as a whole, you must remember both the causes and the consequences of their divergence form the line of Mer - the Altmer are often considered the 'pure' (current) Elves, given that they have had no massive divergence in lineage from the Aldmer of old; whereas the Dunmer were condemned by a Daedric Prince, and the Orsimer following the events of Boethiah's devouring of Trinimac. Meanwhile the Bosmer swore their oath with the land, moving away from the arcane and towards a more natural view.

They live longer thanks to Orkey stealing their life. The question is why did Orkey do this? What if it is actually a blessing, sending men to sovngarde/far shores faster than the Mer? Another thing to consider is that the Ehlnofey and Wandering Spirits aren't any more or less old than each other. Before having their long life stolen away, Orcs and Men had long lifespans as well, at least that's what legend states. Before Nirn they were all immortal but contantly changing.
