Magicka classes deserve a magicka melee weapon skill line, why not wands? They are already in the game, just give us a skill line!

If you're hitting someone with it then it's a martial weapon as you're hitting someone with a stick, if you're casting spells with it then it's magic and probably better from a range.

Well, my summoner vampire is sword/shield, uses only his summons and Life Drain.

I can see a wand being interesting.

Yeah we only have staves...it sucks... I know for example in ff14 they have a magic book and also a wand for a conjurer, but we dont even have conjurers in game.. wow we are so limited...

Yeah I often have to remind myself this is ESO when I think about playing however I want xD because accordingly to ESO you can play how you want but wait...hybrids are not good, classes keep getting nerfed... but I see their point, I CAN play how I want, but the outcome will not be great.

See issue is there are 2 types of magika humanoids in the fantasy world...best example is either Harry potter and Gandalf and a prime example when it comes to Wands vs Staves.... I'd much rather it stayed gandalf than went Harry potter with everyone waiving gimpy little wands in the air...you shall not pass or abracadabra???? Let's leave it at staves please.

My toons would never use a wand because, ya know, they have some self respect. But it doesn't bother me if others want to use one.

I would love to see one handed staffs (wands), so long as the damage on them was half a 2-h staff (like how a 1-h sword is half damage of a 2-h). It would be awesome because;

1) You would have the extra slot for an extra set bonus, allowing a dual wands wielder two have two 5-piece armour bonuses and a monster helm set- Some builds are built around those 5-piece bonuses and magicka characters are disadvantaged by staffs in this respect)

2) You could draw on 2 weaopon skill tree's. e.g
2a) Have a resto wand and destro wand and have access to both skill lines OR
2b) Have one wand and a 1-h weapon gives access to dual wield skills (although you will have lower damage because wands have lower weapon damage) or one wand and a shield giving access to the 1h+s skill line.

It's another way that hybrids could be made more viable in my opinion, and anything that gives more options for variety is good.

I liked the idea someone posted in another thread about a wand and orb skill line.

Animation of orb floating around you and effects spawning from it could look neat.

Have vague notion of two wand skills, two orb skills, one skill and the ultimate using both.

Other one hand items like orbs, magical artifacts, etc. Make them do less dmg or no dmg but some other effect. Can make current staves one handed primary and reduce dmg.

...come to think of it, would not the Amulet of Kings qualify as focus? It certainly had a good deal of magical effect... And there are some other amulet/focus-based effects during several quests as I recall... not a big leap from there to player spalls cast by focus, right?

As for Foci and their flavor... I would think they could be quite neat. Maybe not of the floating orb type, but... Holy symbols to rise as you invoke your diety? Ornate spellbooks from which to read your spells? Shaman rattles to shake as you chant? Gilded scepters to make grand gestures with? Meditation crystals for those ayleid-age wizards?

The issues of balance would depend on how it was done. For example, if there was an dual-wield foci option for restoration and destruction magic, then the power of the effects would have to be reduced to compensate for the extra trait and set slot...

You never play skyrim? Staves everywhere. Flame staffs were proper cool. Almost a fire lazer, much better than these current eso ones.

Well, not really THAT version, but they've been ALWAYS around.
