THE 2.4.2 Stamina Sorcerer feedback thread

"Surge: This ability and its morphs now restore a flat value of health whenever you deal a Critical Strike. It will now also proc on any Critical Strike instead of only direct damage Critical Strikes, but can only restore health once every second."

This value is set at 3000. For every second. It no longer scales off of damage done, procs less often and reliably, and in pvp procs for 1.5k

Not to sound jaded or offended here, but was this intended to be a buff? @Wrobel

This isn't even good for pvp sorcs.

I can land a light attack-> flying blade weave on someone with full impen. and get a higher heal than with this proposed change.

This completely kills the uniqueness of the stam-sorc in that we are usually weapon-damage-crit-monsters.

Now, we're in the same weapon damage, stamina stacking meta as everyone esle...

Everyone's asking you to remove the cooldown on crit surge so it can also work on DOTs.............. Not nerf the skill so hard it brings DoT and spike damage down to the same basal level............... Which I've tested. Extensively.

This is a well-intentioned patch for stam sorcs, no doubt, but seriously.... The skill used to not have an internal cooldown at ALL. I'm talking pre 1.5..... I don't remember when they added one, but I remember they lowered it from around .5 seconds to .1 seconds after they implemented it... I think 1.6. I'm not sure.

Point being; everyone rejoiced when you lowered the cooldown, but we're so far behind now that you guys need to just re-implement the old mechanic without a cooldown in order for this skill to even be worth running. I'm becoming squishier and squisher the more help I need.

This current form of surge is going to get a lot of feedback as "the help" stam sorcs needed, and while the minor expedition is nice, this surge morph just nerfed us into re-rolling.


We're punished for having a high crit rate now.


Any stam sorc who says the current change is a good one is a stam sorc who doesn't have an endgame character.

*PLEASE* reconsider this surge morph. It's completely killed my build. It's less reliable than it is in it's current state, procs way less often, and the heal is completely laughable in a pve or a pvp setting. I can't even whirlwind aoe heal myself anymore and am forced into the 2h tree ..... yet again.... if I want any survivability against mobs in any location. Maelstrom just became unbeatable, vMoL just became unsurvivable as well as un-dpsable, and my main just became obsolete...

Any constructive feedback for @Wrobel and the team can be posted here. Please be detailed and scholarly when you write your responses. If your opinion consists of "well I only run a nb" or "as a magicka sorc.. " ... don't bother posting. This thread is for stamina sorcs and stamina sorcs only.

    Well, actually the heal is really really massive, considering that you just need to throw in caltrops and watch the heals flow in.

    But yeah, I want the old one back as well. The new one is very similar to the heals of NB siphon mages and Templar Sweepers. Where is my uniqueness?

    My thing is that the heal seems massive, but it's in essence a less reliable vigor... Surge was a spike heal and was the only skill whose heals scaled off of damage done.

    i.e. the only truly differentiating skill in the game... Now it's a finicky vigor.

    I'll probably replace it with rally in pvp, as spike heals are what we need there.

    Rapid Strikes will now set it off 100% of the time now....That's a pretty big heal....

    Let's assume that's true and it'll proc it 100% of the time.

    That's a max 3k hps.


    As is, on my current build, I get 66% of all of my crit damage back as health.

    When I run 26k dps and get 17khps... 3k hps is a slap in the face.

    I'll go from 26k dps and 17khps to 26k dps and 7k hps max if I have vigor up.

    Assuming I keep vigor up 24/7

    3k hps cap for crit surge kills the skill imo

    Ohhh, im SO against you. Im considering swapping out vigor for Surge as my main Heal now. As Suge now is superior to vigor.
    VMSA is NOT getting more hard, consdering that you got a bone shield, if you REALY lost a massiv amount of hp.
    Then vMOL: you dont need surge in any way in vmol, as you should keep taking pots, and your healers heal for you.
    I dont even belive you played vMOL with a Stam Sorc, else i realy feel sorry for your raid group, as Stam Sorcs are realy underwhelming, DPS wise.
    This whole Patch was a DPS boost for Stam Sorcs. They are far more viable in PVE now, with a High Chance of proccing the new Disintegration nearly each second in a flurry build.

    Oh, and just because it kills YOUR build, doesnt mean its overall bad.
    I can agree its a nerf for some builds(WB, Flying Blade(dont realy like to weave that one thought)), but for the max dps flurry+dot build in msa its a massiv buff.

    The issue is I *can't* play vMOL with my guild because of how low our dps is. We're still last place even with the current changes. My gripe is with the lowered survivability of the new surge skill. Not necessarily our DPS parses.

    I can't argue your other points about disintegration, as it is a good buff, but, it's not only me that's getting rekt by this surge update. Esp. in pvp
