Unfortunately 2 people removed everything from my guild bank. My fault really for giving them access when I didn't know them.

Can anything be done about this it do I just have to learn from my mistake?

I don't think there is much you can do over this sadly.

You could try contacted customer support via an in game ticket and letting them know but I believe most people have said that ZOS don't enforce this any more as it was on you that you trusted people with the bank or places items of value to yourself in there.

Unless they gained access via hacking, or exploiting some bug, Customer Service can't do anything about this.

In the future, don't stick anything in your guild bank you're not willing to lose, and don't let anyone have access to it unless they're someone you implicitly trust. This sounds like your normal rank and file members can access your bank; if that's true, it is a mistake. In most guilds, that needs to be at least an officer or higher up. If a member needs something from the bank, they can ask for it. But giving random newbies full access is asking for trouble.

If you have an officer who is away from the game, demote them down to a rank where they can't do any damage. This can be a custom rank like "On Sabatical," or "Knight Errant," or it can be a normal member rank. You can always repromote them if they return. But if something happens to their account, the guild is protected.

Sorry if this comes across as harsh. I've been on the receiving end of a couple bank thefts over the years. (And a disgruntled guild member coming back, getting access to a friend's account, and kicking 95% of the roster.)

Members can ask for anything in our bank, however only like 8 people have access to it and only they can give items to them.

This is a counter measure to prevent this situation, sorry for your loss OP.

At least now you know and can move forward having experienced this and improve for the future.

I have had this happen in the past in another game and that's why I enforce a system of ask & you shall receive over take what you like and hope for the best since many people can just ninja after say 2 days or 5 days when the activity is low early one morning

I know some people who have multiple accounts and try to rob guild banks all day long.
Then they come back excuse with "oh my brother he..." and do some dungeons with guild members, be nice etc and do it again.
    Just crazy
The same with guys who are always camping in low level areas and wait for new players that want harvest the nodes just to harvest them quicker.

Stealing from guilds is legitimate PvP, and the -only- PvP that should even be remotely considered.

Wait I am a bit confused :( (nothing to do with OP sorry but I dont want to make a whole new thread for this question)
...In a guild bank anyone can add and anyone can withdraw right? You can withdraw from everybody not just what you deposited from what I know, that means that its a help system, for example I deposit good armor I dont need anymore, potions etc. I didnt withdraw anything until yesterday, some fishy sticks because they are delicious and my character needed the boost... was I not supposed to do that? Am I supposed to withdraw only what I add? Because I cant even remember what I added there, and it would make no sense than anybody can withdraw everything in that case.

In addition to that, Report those players for Guild bank robbing and let other guilds(in game only, no posting here) know their account names. It will make it harder for them to do it again.

Maybe it's just me but I don't really like when guild banks restrict to officer only. For me, it gives the feeling that everything in the bank is for the officers and GM, and I don't really feel comfortable asking for something because I feel like I'll be judged for not just getting things myself instead of asking for someone to get something for me.

You can configure permissions based on rank. You can set it so that new recruits cannot immediately empty out the bank and scamper off with your stuff.

Honestly, this is one of those things where you actually need to get to know your guild members. Some guilds absolutely look at it that way, but most guilds I've been in view the bank as a community resource, which is there to be used. Your guild should have clear policies in place for how you can get items from the bank that you need, either on the guild page or when you ask a higher up. If they don't, then that's not a great sign.

Though, really, it's going to come down to your guild's culture. Get to know them. If they don't feel like a good match for what you're looking for, bow out and find a guild that does fit with how you play.

I know guild masters to whom this happened who went to each of their guilds and informed those guild masters of the incident to warn them about those players. I even saw one who was so mad they posted the information in open chat across zones as a warning. Naming and shaming. Not recommended, but I can see how frustrating it would be!

Am I supposed to withdraw only what I add? Because I cant even remember what I added there, and it would make no sense than anybody can withdraw everything in that case.

Guild banks are essentially communal banks for the guild. Anyone can add to the bank, and anyone with the proper permissions can withdraw from the bank.

Different guilds have different requirements, but a good rule of thumb is to not take more from the bank (value-wise) than you deposit in the bank. In your case, you are absolutely more than perfectly fine! Fishy sticks are actually a low-value item (unless you need one for a writ and don't own the recipe :p) so don't feel guilty at all!

As long as you add things of value to the bank (and it sounds like you do), you can take things of value to you from the bank. It's the people who pull all the valuables from the bank while only depositing junk (or nothing at all) in return that are the issue.

    How about multiple bank vaults?

In EQ2, a guild had multiple bank vaults within the bank and you could restrict access for each individual vault. Crafting crap would go in V1/V2, anybody could access. Raid stuff would be in a different vault where guild officers only had access. It worked rather well.

If you are worried ask the guild leader or an officer for their guild bank rules. As long as you are putting stuff in and not taking everything from the bank you should be fine.

Woah! Just logged back in didn't expect to see so many responses.
It's my fault really. Me and my officers are looking at a new system to try and stop this happening again.
There wasn't great stuff in there. We put weapons and armour with traits on them for people who want to research.
It was working great. I asked that you leave a little gold and take what you need. We made some gold doing this and everyone used it well.

Then this happened lol. Lesson learned

In other games when I've run my own guild, I have *always* had a completely open bank policy - if you're a member of the guild, you automatically have full access to the bank.

In all of these guilds, I have never once had a problem.

I can't be bothered to run my own guilds any more, so I just join others. I have yet to be granted access to the bank in any of them, but I don't really care because I'm pretty self-sufficient anyway.

Just set up some ranks and give some of those ranks bank access to withdraw. Only give that rank to those you can trust. Monitor their withdrawals when you first give them withdraw privileges. If they are putting in stuff to balance out what they take, or they just grab a stack, take 20 mats, and put the rest of the stack back, then they are probably someone you can trust and you don't have to worry about them. Make it so most anyone, except maybe newest members can deposit. A good rule is to deposit something like you want to withdraw. For example, someone needs Blue Clothing Tempers, then have them deposit an comparable amount of Blue Wood Tempers.

It would be nice if we could set up tiers, like for example, Green Recipes, let anyone take those out of the bank, but they have to ask to get Blue or Purple Recipes. But, alas, we don't have that so the rules have to apply the same to anyone at that rank in the guild.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

That sucks. I'm hoping one day we will have more tools available for guild banks. Limited withdrawals per day, multiple tabs for separating gear according to permissions. Really need something a bit better.

My one guild has been robbed a few times. We demote anything questionable and question them about it. Most of the time they get reinstated after making amends. But it's tough trying to keep everything working smoothly.

I quit one guild when they locked down the bank. It was a crafting guild. The robbery was a pain, I lost a lot of stuff, but being locked out of the bank was worse. When I need something, it does me no good to wait a day or two. Far easier to just switch mules around.

When Pierre believe there's no real punishment for their behaviour, it's bound to happen.

Try and report it to CS. Nothing can be returned, but hopefully this behaviour will eventually be recognized as impeding the enjoyment of the game for the community. Pretty sure there's something about that in the ToS.
