Why is downloading PTS client such a frustrating wait?

While the download speed of live client can be as fast as nearly 1MB per second, that of the PTS client can hardly reach 300 KB. To top it off, if you pause the download and shut down the client or computer, then sometimes you launch the launcher only to find that you have to re-download everything from the scratch. The previously downloaded files are all there but the launcher starts downloading all over again anyway. And this has happened several times.

With the slow speed, it will probably take two days to download everything, which is fine if pausing or restarting launcher will not ridiculously cancel the process and restart everything. There is no way that I leave my computer on with my dog at home when I go to work.

They come from the same place, as near as I can tell. Both can run at 3 MB/sec

Do you have the launcher throttled? Heavy use of your Internet connection, maybe? You can always try the pause trick, although I have not needed it for a long time. Pause the download, wait about a minute, then restart it. Edit: Do not close launcher. If this increases your speed, the problem was the internet or the ISP you use.

Honestly, I don't really care about the speed anymore. You will get there anyway. What really bothers me is the closing launcher and everything starting all over again. Weired thing is the previously downloaded data are right there and the launcher just re-downloads the same files with the same names.
