Do You Believe Your Opinions Matter With ZoS?

Yes, the forums are here for us to discuss game issues, and fellow gamers always have something to reply with, but is your message really hitting home? How much of the community are feeling satisfied that they're being heard? Or is ZoS just having us go through the motions? Or worse ... Are things set up just so they can "steal" (your) ideas within the community when they've run fresh out of their own?

Being here since beta, I saw quite a bit of stuff being changed due to player feedback.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

No- I don't think my opinion matters to, ZoS. They haven't listened to us, yet.
I believe a lot of our opinions used to be considered. In beta days what we, the player base, said goes. Many things were changed based on our ideas and what we felt was right or wrong. This "ideology" was swiftly nipped in the butt less than a year later. With the release of "Tamriel Unlimited" I saw a massive decline in how much of our input was actually taken to heart. This can be seen with the ridiculous time frame it takes to get anything fixed, especially large game breaking bugs. Not to mention they don't even believe us when we tell them things are broken. It takes weeks and a lot of video evidence for them to finally believe us, as if any of them actually play the game anymore, then after weeks of evidence sometimes we have to wait MONTHS for large content updates to get fixes.

If you couldn't tell I'm quite salty with the state of the game. This is one of the few games I can honestly say I've ever played that has gotten worse over time instead of better. Still holding on hope that it'll be the game we were promised years ago.

When someone is selling something he will look for a big market or a special small market. The ultimate purpose is to make as much money as they can out of what they are selling.

Us players agree and disagree with each other over the smallest detail. My idea of a perfect game would go against MOST gamers idea of it.
I don't know how game developers discover which are the most pleasing, popular ideas amongst us when they create a game, but I know for sure that if a suggestion from their customers cannot be translated in profit (THEY KNOW WHAT PROFIT IS. NOT YOU OR ME) they are not going to go with it.

I posted a coupled of things in these forums giving little regard to what most people here think. I posted them because I hoped that ZOS would consider and calculate them and see a return on investment with them.

Does ZOS listen to every one of my opinions? Probably yes.

Do they act on every one of my opinions (or anyone else's for that matter)... gonna have to say no.

Do they try to do what they feel is best for the game? I think they do.

Do I even care, as long as the game stays healthy and is fun to play? Absolutely not ;)

My first time submitting PTS feedback seems to have worked positively so far with Enchanting. It took 10 pages, but we seemed to have made some progress.
Skye Cloude - Sorc DPS, Master Crafter. Main, the bestest
Lae Lenne - Templar Healer Trial grade.
Dromede - Stamina Nightblade, she's a newb and doesn't know what she's doing
V'oghatta - Stamplar pretending to be a tank
Ulville Thonvella - aspiring Fire Mage, be careful around her fire sticks!
Dromedaris - lost and not found. Named after a shoe, what else can you expect from her? A proper tank in her wildest dreams
Swims-Naked - too pretty to grind, too silly to quest.
Sun Flair - Dunmer Templar that can't spell for life. To bad she's too broke to afford a name change... Well, at least she's pretty...

They definitely do! I actually really like the ZOS Dev team.

Forums are where complaints/bugs go for the Devs to look at. They have done a TON of stuff for the players. I'm sure lots of players actually appreciate this.

In all of the time I have played ESO (since PS4 launch), there is only one decision I wholeheartedly disagree with, which is crafting bag exclusivity. Having purchased 22000 crowns and bought all three DLCs already, I simply won't subscribe. There is an enormous amount of people in the same position, and crafting bags are almost vital with the humongeous and ever growing amount of mats to store between multiple pack mules. Hurts my experience a lot now. Should be placed on the Crown Store but made free to ESO+ members.

But yeah, just a (popular) opinion :)

Overall, ZOS has done very well in this regard for sure!

Solid feedback/ideas matter to them. Forum feedback is just one small piece of feedback that is very visible to the small percentage of the population that actually comes to the forums. Then look at the extreme difficulty of sifting through feedback. They get everything from personal preferences to outlandish demands and everything in between. Pick any subject post it on the forums and you will get so many opposing views it is overwhelming and yet we accuse them of not listening if they do not act somehow appeasing every point of view of the subject.

In the end it is the tickets we don't see, feedback from in game, purchase history from crownstore and ESO+ accounts that give the most valuable feedback, none of which we see. The huge number of classes changes we see every DLC despite players views to the contrary shows that they are acting on feedback (internally and externally), but much like politics, good luck getting every one to agree or even be civil

Yes- I believe my opinion matters to, ZoS. They even used someone's idea.
I think that they make use of the feedback they get from the forum. But this does not mean, "they listen" as in "obey", but more that they take into consideration what arguments were put forward by different kind of player groups. But with all this we should not forget, that devs have their vision of the game and regardless how many might complain about the general direction of the game, they will implement their vision of it. Maybe with slight changes based on feedback and actual data of player activity on the live server, but in general it will stay their vision of the game.

So do our opinions matter?- yes, but they will not lead to drastic changes, but can help to mold gameplay and to a minor degree as well content - even I think that the main content is planned out long-term and will not change significantly. Overall the best we can hope for is, that our feedback lets them think about it again - and then come to a decision.

I know for a fact they do, as someone who joined to the community 2 year before PC-launch, actually from very first announcement, they really do. The thing is they are still doing stuff what community spoke like 6 month after PC-launch and we are at 2 year mark, so they are 1.5 year behind almost.

I think the attention they pay is weighted towards people who stream content or are otherwise big names in the game, with far less attention being paid to ordinary players. There is also a problem with trying to balance PvP and having it impact on PvE every single time - if they want to balance PvP they could do it just for PvP, without every single one of us PvEers being knocked out of whack every time.

They've proven time and again they don't give a damn unfortunately.

They do make changes based on player feedback sometimes yes, but more often than not it seems just catering to some VERY loud qq-ing on forums in order to shut people up and minimize the damage done by their awful game management, or that's how I see it. They don't seem to actually take time to consider the consequences of that or try to weigh for and against in search of a better decision. Their solution to most things is a hammer instead of a pincer.

They also seem to ultimately dismiss anything that'd possibly take a fair more amount of effort than striking something down with a nerfhammer.

Oh and yes. Lack of communication doesn't help in any way. "People complain. - ZOS is silent. - People keep complaining. - ZOS is still silent. - People keep complaining. - Silent. - People give up, most either leave the game or adapt, game goes on. - SUDDENLY ZOS acts out on the complaints, changing half the game around and whacking everything wildly out of balance." -.-

I think it does, but they're incredibly slow to respond to the essential issues...and inbetween they like to throw smoke bombs to make the PVPers hate another thing for a month so there's always noise in the forums and ingame, covering up the things that really matter.

I know that ZOS listens as I have seen it happen. I have seen bugs fixed from feedback that I personally have sent. Yes, it took a few incremental patches, but it was fixed.

Now, as far as opinions, ZOS has a master plan on how they are going to do things. They have a time table of when they will do things. They have to look at what is currently happening in the game. They have the numbers and feedback. Things will happen when it is ready. No amount of whining is going to change when things can be done. It takes years to code a game and to do it where it can not be exploited. Unfortunately, most people are impatient. They want everything now. Life doesn't work like that. It takes time to do things right. You would dump a can of frosting into the cake batter before it is baked and expect it to come out of the oven perfectly decorated, would you?

Its pretty much game logic. Developers of any game will only sell that game, if they create content people like. Which means they have to listen to what people are saying, and what they want. With that being said, yes. I do believe our opinions matters to ZoS. Of course they cant add everything we want in ESO. But they do listen to us, they do consider any ideas or suggestions we have. Bottom line, yes our opinions do matter to ZoS.

Individually, no. I think it takes a large number of ppl to be saying the same thing before they take the time to listen... Even then it's no guarantee they'll really do anything about it. The ESO Plus Crowns thing is a good example, I can't even remember how long ppl have been complaining about Crowns not getting issued when their sub renews, and it still isn't fixed yet.
