Epic battle at the Chalamo 4/30/2016

It was over two hours long with all three alliances. DC was defending the Chalamo with a very determined EP trying to take back their home keep and AD wanting to do an emp push. I know that I burned eight EP forward camps and believe that there was even more than that. There was no less than five breeches to repair at the various times. The d tick was over 18,000 even if it was delayed by over 15 minutes after the fighting stopped. It was epic. Good going to all who participated, no matter what side of the battle. Fun times for all.

What I want to know is how many of you newbie nerds even know the reference to the Chalamo and what it is referencing?

Most of you were not playing the game when this phrase was coined.

I thought heads were gonna explode when the nublets refused to stop fighting by the keep, delaying our tick for what seemed an eternity!!!! It was such a long fight, Guard had time to go help back cap Ales and Bleaks and STILL make it back for more defense and that juicy 18k tick. All in all I made over 35k there defending/tick. Hardly any lag. Very epic battle that goes down as one of the most memorable for me. Long live the Chalamo!

I think I know about it.It was a fight during beta that ZOs turned into a lorebook. The last DC emp Keep was defended by a handful of DC against I believe 3-4 waves of AD and a wave of EP.They kept wiping the groups for a few hours and in the end the DC lost after a long fight.

OP this reminds me of a Dethrone last week were DC held off EP and AD for three house to not lose EMP at ash.It was amazing I got a 68k tick at the mine and a 30k at the keep once it was all over.

    Gather 'round, proud warriors all,
    Silent now and standing tall.
Bow your heads to those who sleep,
Beneath the ground of Chalman Keep.

The flames of war seared the land,
    Crushing all with brutal hand.
    Dominion soldiers sought the throne,
    Chalman, undaunted, stood alone.

    Hooves thundered o'er the sward,
Death neared for all, swift and hard.
    Defenders stood upon Chalman's wall,
    Warriors brave, Covenant heroes all.

    Forward came the Dominion hordes,
With arcane spells and gleaming swords.
Walls shook to siege engines' roars,
    Rams thundered upon keep doors.

The outer doors fell to the invaders' barrage,
Into the courtyard Elves and Khajiit charged.
The inner door too gave when assaulted,
O'er bodies and rubble the attackers vaulted.

The defenders made their might felt,
Spells flared forth, death was dealt.
    Fury rained upon invaders' heads,
'til Khajiit and Elves all were dead.

No time to rest, no time to heal,
Doors and breaches they must seal.
All was repaired, the damage undone,
As another deadly assault was begun.

Once again, fierce battle was fought,
Death was granted where it was sought.
    Entropy rose inside the keep,
Swept over all, piled the bodies deep.

    Again the bloody tide receded,
    Dominion foes once more defeated.
Orc and Redguard and Breton remained,
Proud survivors of Chalman Keep again.

    Dominion warriors attacked once more,
In numbers far greater than ever before.
    They battered aside weary defenders,
Stopped only in the innermost chambers.

Into the apse the heroes were hounded,
    Dominion victory cries loudly sounded.
Then chaos erupted as the Pact swept in,
Seeing their enemies' forces worn thin.

Caught between fierce anvil and hammer,
Elf and Khajiit died in brave manner.
Only Pact and Covenant soon remained,
Then the defenders cleared the field again.

    A breath, a pause, a brief respite,
The Covenant cause now truly desperate.
A final assault the Dominion did mount,
A massive wave, too many to count.

Determined to conquer, refusing to desist,
The Dominion force impossible to resist.
The defenders resolved to fight to the last,
No blow was wasted, no spell shoddily cast.

One by one the gallant warriors fell,
Breton, Redguard, and Orc died well.
Their lives given up for Chalman Keep,
They rest forever in honored sleep.

The Dominion banner rose over the hall,
A Dominion Emperor then ruled over all.
Peace came to Chalman, damage repaired,
Attackers dispersed, to other sites they fared.

That emperor is gone, his reign long past.
What remains of this day, what of it lasts?
Just the display of courage, in that final stand,
Of those who stood, and died, at Chalman

Saramis went to reclaim those keeps, I stayed at Chal with Guard.

At one point both walls and the front door were all down.

I would reiterate that it was a laggy mess caused by forward camp spamming, OP siege, and a lack of ways to mitigate incoming damage. This is how you get faction pileups. Thanks ZoS, I'm sure no one warned this would happen :/

Lies! FCs spread players out!! I know this to be true because I frequently see them deployed around Alessia bridge.........

What really amazes me is when players in zone chat are complaining about FC induced lag but then immediately defend FCs when someone points out FCs contribute to lag. "BUT AP!!!!!"

And as far as what DC lost during the defense, yep-Saramis did a great job back capping it. Zone whiners need to trust the big kids know what they're doing and just roll with it.

        Yeah.

Thing is that forward camps weren't going to ever let EP or AD take that keep. We had two raids inside, extremely heavy siege defense. Anything that touched the flag or stairs got melted. All that camps did was allow it to spiral from an ill fated push into a battle that locked the sever at 700+ ping for two hours.

Defense in this meta is so stupid OP.

I was ready to pull off, but the point tick happened right before Glade and Aleswell were lost. So that's an hour window to stem the red tide AND take our *** back.

A few of us in guard pulled off, went to help cap Ales, defend Ash and then made it back to a bursted Chal just in time for it to flip and after much red caps in zone (mine included hahah) we finally got the D tick. EP gets manhandled come prime time. You know, when there is competition online and they can't PvDoor an emp at 7 in the morning.

EP won the campaign on nightcapping and crowning emps with no competition online. I dethroned more EP emps this campaign than I have in the last 4 campaigns combined. It'll win you campaigns to play that way, but it's not exactly impressive.

Is that a bad thing ? Should we not try to increase moral ? EP had a tough time a few campaigns back . Does it really make that much of a difference that DC was on top then ?

Edit to add I just think the point of the thread was to say it was a really fun fight ...

30 day campaign went like this:

Few EP get KIA at a resource, come back with twice the number. Get KIA again, return with 4x, only to get killed again. EP returns with 3 raids and overwhelms DC while AD snipes DC from behind. ANYONE would win with a huge numerical advantage. EP won through numbers. Keep it up and you can play with yourselves.
