I think if they substantially reduce the base casting cost, it will be fine for most people. Seriously though, you're shields barely last 3 seconds in combat anyway before you need a recast, there is too much crying i think.

Yeah I'm not a sorc I'm a templar, and honestly mag sorcs are the hardest for me to fight.... But that's the best part when I see a mag sorc I know they will be stacking shields and I know I have to be on my game. I just think I'd they want 6 secs so bad across the board then bam add it to the battle spirit that way sorcs won't be so mad about the real pve part of it.

This seems a reasonable solution, but...
Why does the LENGTH of the shield matter, other than as a quality of life improvement in between skirmishes?
Even in PVE, if the fight is intense, I find that my shield can be depleted in way less than 6 seconds, much less 20. The only reason to have it last longer is if I cast it before the fight, and for some reason don't get hit at all for a bit, but that's not a disadvantage to the attacker, or an advantage to me; the fight hasn't officially started yet.
Perhaps someone can extrapolate why the time of the shield directly coincides with how long it lasts when it's been hit? Does it make the shield stronger?
