V16 stealth nerf with DB

DeclaredJester
I was reading the patch notes and found the 501 CP limit to be unchanged with DB. So unless a level 50 character gets boosted to the power equivalent of a V16 today, that would mean that any V16 in effect is nerfed for approx 160 CP (which is what they said a V16 corresponded to as far as I can tell). Having spent the time to level up 6 V16s I find that kinda not.. how to put it.. well thought out. I hope I read it wrong, and someone can spend a minute or two to explain to me the folly of my ways and why my character "power" is unchanged with DB. I should add that I am well past the 501 mark, so yes the limit does have an effect on me.

I'm not understanding your question or issue on why v16s would essentially be nerfed. Can you try and reword it?
  • DeclaredJester
today a v16 is (according to the 160 cp transfer) effectively a level 50 with 160cp.
    That would make a v16 with 501cp a level 50 with 661 cp.

Except the limit is still 501cp, so a v16 lost the equivalent of 160cp in "power", making the difference between a level 50 with 501 cp and a v16 with 501 zero....

    That's what I mean by a nerf :(

It's not a nerf to VR16, it is boosting any level 50 with 501 CP to the same level.

    Your cp won't change...

You'll still have the same cp you have now.

All the patch notes is saying if your under v16 every vet level will be equal to 10 cp's, if you v12 your v12 gear will become 120cp gear.

    Current CP : 756+

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

Don't see any nerf. You will have the same amount of CP and same gear. Only difference is you won't have a 'V16' next to your name.

And if anyone has a lvl 50 with 501 CP, then it is an alt, and the main has earned the max anyway, that is intended and in no way a "ninja" move.

The only "nerf" I see is that they didn't raise the CP cap in DB.

Not really a nerf at all...but it is annoying :/

If I drop from an effective 661 cp to 501 cp, then I consider it a nerf. To make it fair the limit should have been raised to 661 (that would make a present day v16 equal in "power" to the new level 50). And if a level 50 is boosted to the equivalent of a v16, then yes, it still means v2-v16 are wasted (aka nerfed).
Nothing that will make me quit, I know, but still a lot of hours went into those levels, so it's kinda sad to see them "flushed".

The cap was already 501 though.

Anyone with over 160 will be the equivalent of v16 when their character get's to level 50.

    There's no nerf.

    After DB:

    Lv50 with 10 CPs = VR1
    Lv50 with 20 CPs = VR2
    Lv50 with 100 CPs = VR10
    Lv50 with 160 CPs = VR16
    LV50 with 500 CPs = VR50

However, gear is still stopping at 160 CPs (at least for now) so the max "level" is still VR16. Enemy NPCs also still cap at VR16. CPs beyond 160 are simply to apply to your champion passives. The usable CP cap is still 501.

The way I am understanding it is:

You are V16 with 661 CP's... so you will soon become Level 50 with 661 Cp's... no change there as it will now work on CP rank.

As the current max is 501, you can only use 501. The rest of your CP points cannot currently be used, and still will not be able to be used at launch of DB... no change. But in the future when CP cap is increased, you will automatically have access to those CP you currently cannot use.

At DB, anyone with 160CP will automatically get boosted to be able to wear the equivalent of V16 gear (Ruby)... so if they were say Veteran5 with 160CP, they will now be the equivalent of todays V16.

So no one is getting nerfed, just people are getting boosted to end game.

I also read in the notes that as a special one off, on day of launch anyone logging into DB will automatically get a free 40CP. I took that as everyone. So if you have 120CP, you will now have 160CP and be the equivalent of todays V16. If you have 661CP, you will now have 701CP... but can still only use the 501 due to current cap.

So none of that seems like a nerf or unfair, just seems like they are trying to get more people to end game and balance things out at launch.

But if I have anything wrong, please correct and point to information... :)

IF you have a Vr16, you will be lv50 with the same stats and attributes, you can also wear the best gear, which is unlocked with 160cp. Whatever Cp you have is capped at 501, so your lv50 that was previously vr16 can use up to 501cp. Very simple.

    @DeclaredJester
    On live
VR16 (regardless of CP) can wear any gear they want. They would be best in v16 gear for the higher stats and better glyphs.
VR1 is limited to level 1 - VR1 gear (regardless of CP) with it's low stats (unless scaled/Battle Leveled).

    On PTS
Veteran Ranks removed and Level 50 is now the cap.
Gear is now based off CP instead of Veteran Levels.
Former V1-16 are now level 50 and can only wear best in slot gear if they have achieved a certain amount of CP. On PTS currently this is 160.

If any Level 50 does not have 160 CP they cannot equip v16 Live equivalent gear.
V16's were not nerfed. You should change the name of this thread, it is wrong and misleading.
I got killed in pvp, nerf everything...

    And attribute points.

To clarify these, you get an extra skill/attribute point every level ending in 5 (i.e. 5, 15, 25) and 2 extra for every 10th level (i.e. 10, 20, 30) and this will make up for all lost points from being changed from VR16 to 50. There really is no difference.
