Boss "Nenaronald" is invincible. "The Veil Falls" quest.

So I beat the two henchman easily, go to fight the boss and get my ass wiped. 2H LVL 11 nightblade. So I train bow a bit and hide and snipe from a box. From here he can't even reach me! So I take a shot and he goes down and gets up, another shot he goes down and gets up and his health goes back up to 100. Over and over and over. Health back to 100. So I rush him, critical rush, block, assassins blade, block, uppercut. One hit bam I;m dead. This has been happening FOR FIVE HOURS NOW> Hey can I beat this guy? This is not fun at all.

If a mob cannot reach you, they will lose aggression against you. If they do that, they get full health back. As for hitting him, you may need to level and come back, or change up your strategy. Open up with a sneak attack, maybe?
  • Billtheman
Honestly I can't seeing how leveling can help since I can only hit him once, maybe twice, and barely do any damage and get killed. I find blocking and "breaking" really hard to keep up with, I think I need to respec as a bow sniper because I thought this 2 handed nightblade would be able to sneak up and powerkill someone but its not happening.

That boss was way stronger then... you can ask for help on zone chat, he is still hard to kill if you lack gear and proper skills.

A two handed nb does just fine. Here are some tips:

    1. If you are 4+ levels under the boss, don't attempt to fight it.
    2. Make sure your gear isn't broken
    3. You will need some basic knowledge of the nb skill trees.

Skills make all the difference, so I have thrown together a little build you can use.
    1. Shadow Cloak - Use this to sneak up on your enemy. Morph it to shadowy disguise if you have an extra skill point.
    2. Surprise Attack - This is stamina nb's main spammable skill. It hits really hard and will stun if you are in stealth.
    3. Killers Blade - Only use this ability when the enemy is below 25% health, as it will do triple damage. If you kill your enemy with this ability, you get some of your max health back as well.
    4. Ambush - If you have extra skill points, consider using this skill as well. You can use this to close the gap between you and your opponent, it also gives you 20% more damage on your next attack and stuns.

Shadow Cloak and Surprise Attack are in the shadow skill line and Surprise Attack is a morph of Veiled Strike. Killers blade is a morph of Assassins Blade and is in the Assassination skill tree along with Ambush which is a morph of Teleport Strike.

If you are still having trouble, consider getting one of the three nb ultimate abilities. All three are quite good.

Later on in the game, you will get a 2nd bar, allowing the to use both 2h and bow. I would recommend using 2h as your damage bar and bow as your buff bar, though personally, I use dual wield and 2h.
I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee...

    Khajiit Nightblade- V15
    Imperial Templar- V1
    Altmer Sorc- Lvl 28
    Dunmer Nightblade- Lvl 19 (WIP)

Well of those abilities I have only Deathstroke and Killers blade. All other skills are in the two handed tree and the medium armor tree.

I have two skill points right now so I can get shadow cloak and wait for veiled strike when I can train it. I really hate hands on fighting though. In every other Elder Scrolls I just summon creatures and let them fight. Maybe I should have been a sorcerer.

I the problem is: this particular Elder Scrolls game is an MMO and does not follow the same rules as the previous ES solo games.

One particular advice I can give you (that you probably don't know, because the game does not tell you) is that you should have ALL your attribute points invested into stamina.

    Yes, no points into health.

The more stamina you have, the harder you will hit. Also, if you have problems dealing with bosses, you should ask someone in a guild (you are in a guild, aren't you?) to craft you some armor. Armor sets give you powerful weapon power bonuses.

I guess this thread is a reality check against all the nerf threads...

To help you out with the boss and future fights - unlock your active skills before your passives. At a low level passives barely make any difference, while an active skill on your bar advances both itself and the skill tree. That especially applies to armor trees - iwouldn't bother unlocking those passives till higher levels when you have a handful skill points.
Skye Cloude - Sorc DPS, Master Crafter. Main, the bestest
Lae Lenne - Templar Healer Trial grade.
Dromede - Stamina Nightblade, she's a newb and doesn't know what she's doing
V'oghatta - Stamplar pretending to be a tank
Ulville Thonvella - aspiring Fire Mage, be careful around her fire sticks!
Dromedaris - lost and not found. Named after a shoe, what else can you expect from her? A proper tank in her wildest dreams
Swims-Naked - too pretty to grind, too silly to quest.
Sun Flair - Dunmer Templar that can't spell for life. To bad she's too broke to afford a name change... Well, at least she's pretty...

Ok makes sense. Yeah I put 4 into health and 6 into stamina. Next time I will go all stamina. Thanks for all your replies.

Also, are you using food/potions? Food can give you great advantage because it will give you significant buff to some of your attributes(green food only buffs one attribute, blue buffs 2, purple buffs all 3; not sure if there is level 10 blue food though, but there definitely is green one). Potions can help with getting your resources back when in need.

Also, I don't really remember this guy but you might try dodgerolling instead of blocking. Most attacks are dodgeable and doing so will let you avoid 100% of the damage. You can also interrupt some of the harder hitting attacks, when you see red lines around a mob it means he's charging a heavy that you can probably interrupt by bashing. And, of course, do not stand in red ;)

You see how he blocked his attack?
The boss was stunned for about two seconds after his heavy attack got blocked.
Even better, if you were to hit HIM with a heavy attack after he got stunned, he would get knocked down.

All of there basic mechanics were explained during your escape from the Wailing Prison.
