Here's my male Imperial, Sagittam Ad Genu (all my other male characters are argonian or khajiit):



Basically I was going for a "retired adventurer" look (or stepping out of retirement to avenge his own murder). So older, grey hair, lots of scars. I wasn't planning the eye patch but as soon as I discovered it I decided I had to use it. If I could I'd make him limp too.

I wasn't thinking manly exactly, but more rough, aggressive, assertive. Not a bad guy, but someone you'd be wary of, especially if he'd been having a bad day.

In terms of physical appearance that means square features, 'rough' lines (no neat, straight eye brows), broad shoulders, big hands and feet, (you can't really see in this screenshot, he's wearing very flattering armour but he's also somewhat overweight, but that's part of the retired adventurer theme again). I opted for stubble rather than a beard because I wanted the scars to show and it just didn't suit him. Maybe if he was a nord. And while he does have approximately shoulder length hair he keeps it tied back rather than hanging about his face.

It's surprisingly hard to describe actually. Like a lot of people here my normal approach is to start with a theme and a personality and then match their appearance to it. When I go into the character creator I usually have a fairly good idea what I'm going for in general terms, but for a lot of things I just play around with the sliders and at some point it looks right for the character I'm making.

Thats the same that I thought but apparently this guy was able to pull it off



To give you a more clear idea:
The guy in the video, has exactly the style I would imagine having if I would have been born as a man (thank God I didnt though, you guys are missing out on dresses and cute teddy bears), OR roleplay in a game.

Thank you very much for the tips! And oh wow he looks like my dad without the eyepatch!!! My dad went to the army in his youth and basically now he is a bit of a muscular chubby bundle of manly games xD.
He gave me all the gaming passion since I was little, so I have to thank him ... although he started to regret it a bit once we were fighting over the playstation or who gets to buy a new game xD.

His eyes may be a bit too high but I think he looks good and with the dark mask and hood those piercing blue eyes will look right through you.

^This - heroic, or a bit closer to the angular extreme for more traditional Dunmer, Altmer and Bosmer faces from previous Elder Scrolls games.

That's funny. Most of my male characters have facial makeup:





Made with the method I described earlier. Mostly randomized:
How I usually create my manly characters:
-First put all the sliders in the middle to make your average Joe.
-For body/face type you can leave it at the center of the triangles or just push it all the way to muscular/heroic. Lock in.
-For body Max out the sliders for neck size and shoulders. Gut size all the way to minimum. Lock in.
-Select your choice of age, skin color, hair color, hair style, and eyebrow style. Lock in.
-Now play around with the rest of the sliders or just hit random over and over until you get something you like.
-Add a beard for extra manliness.
Done.

And dont pick a Breton. They look so dopey.

Actually, I now notice my characters look a bit feminine. But not as feminine as yours though. I think. Looking back at your first attempt in the OP. I would say try to make your man look like he is ready for action and determined. Lip should be curved a little bit downward like a frown but not too much. Eyebrows a bit high to show alertness but not too far or he will look surprised. A little bit of eye squint to show he is focused. That's what I usually go for. Or just hit random until you get something interesting.

And I don't know about that long straight hair parted down the middle. Indaenir, the Silvenar you meet in Greenshade and Malabal Tor had that. If you look closely, he has a ton of manly features but he still comes off as pansy due to that hair.

Hmm... For starters, I would advise you look into the characteristics of stereotypical manliness. Such things would include: An athletic yet hardy physique, a wild and natural haircut, facial hair, etc. From there, the rest is entirely up to you.

However, be aware that there is nothing wrong with "girly-men". This is a common theme in Japanese anime and video games (e.g. Sesshomaru from InuYasha, Marth from Fire Emblem, etc). And most of the time the "girly-men" are among the strongest of the characters.

It really seems that imperials are so much more better looking than all of the rest of the races ;___; why Zos why you no include imperial for free? Now I have to decide between being an imperial man or buying TG...

Yeah, I have shoulder length hair. I actually wear it similar to the character Charles Vane in Black Sails. Just less greasy and no beads/decorations weaved in it.

Also, find it funny that you posted the Before and after leave pics. I walked in to the dfac once right before I was coming off leave in civilian clothing and got yelled at for my beard by the mess Sargent. I laughed and told him to take it up with my top. yeah top didn't care as long as you where clean shaven by the time you where in formation.

Thank you kind Sir, however I prefer to wear the Grahtwood Climber costume, it allows certain areas to be more refreshed.

I do intend in making a girly man but he will be a sorcerer ;___;, for the moment I need a cool guy that talks in a deep voice and walks around in the shadows with his blades =D... and since you said it...

It depends. Its a proven fact the more body hair a man has the more likely he is to go bald. So maybe lay off the furry chest a bit.
