Incremental patches on console do add and have added features that were on PC but not on console. They don't wait to address a platform specific feature until a DLC drop. It works both ways for each platform. Just read the past patch notes over the last 12 months.

Addons are required for buff timers on PC it's not default and even if....this would be best as a SCT feature and not how the PC addons work because ppl forget that we have different UIs

Please no text chat!!!! I love hearing mouth breathers, people eating while playing, bong hits, kids being beaten, mom's yelling at their kids to get off the PS4, dogs barking, doors slamming, fapping, and coughing. How will I get to enjoy this ambient noise while I am immersed in such a game?

Yeah. See how many people rush out to get a ps4 keyboard. It's cool they're doing it I guess. Hopefully I can toggle it off. Maybe they can make the group list toggle able to turn it off as well.

There is no such thing as a PS4 keyboard lol... Any keyboard works on PS4. You tell me you can pay for ESO but can't buy a 10$ keyboard at Walmart or don't have one lying around in your house ?

How a company can release an MMO w/o text chat is absolutely mind blowing to me.

I remember playing Everquest Online Adventures on PS2 about 15 years ago and they had a chat system.

I got a new keyboard at the thrift store down the street for $1.99, works wonderful. If you can afford a PS4 and a $60 game, you can probably find a way to get one I am thinking.

It doesn't make sense for everyone

Why would anyone who doesn't use a keyboard to play want a keyboard to type only if they don't have it plugged in already?
There are definitely groups of players who do this and want this type of experience but I believe you will find that less players will do this once added than those who do.

My fear is that ppl will react in a negative manner and begin to split the player base.
Zone Chat (if its added like this) - LFG XYZ ....for ABC.... "must use text chat" / "must use mic"

There is already a must use mic criteria so I just forsee a splitting of hairs.
I'm glad its being added for those who want it but having actually played on PC with a controller pre-the gamepad UI and then after with the game-pad UI....I have to say I much prefer voice chat but I get it...thats the group im in. I'm the guy who would be open to reading text in a group and reply via voice which I would assume is normal.

all that zone stuff tho.....I really need there to be a setting to always exclude it.

Buy a keyboard?? No thanks , have been using the on screen keyboard since my first ps1 and that works fine for me.

I'm with @MacCait on this, really don't see the need for a spammable text chat to all, just open to spam and annoyance as yet another distraction on screen. Im sure the potty mouths will be braver on text than voice too. As long as it can be turned off I'm happy for those that have wanted it finally getting it - but Personally voice / emotes or direct comms with guild mates to arrange stuff gets me what i need done. Each to their own!

You don't miss the opportunity to actually speak with the dozens/hundreds of people in your guilds ? Make trading/grouping/basically everything easier/faster ? Or being able to ask zone chat if someone wants to do that dolmen/boss ? Voice chat doesn't allow these things.

And I'm the guy who will type and don't mind getting a reply in voice chat. My native language is French and I am really not comfortable speaking to strangers in English. Text chat will make me way more social.

In a group with people you actually know doing semi/hard content, voice chat is awesome. Running around a random zone or doing a normal dungeon PUG, text chat will be awesome.

I don't have a keyboard hooked up to my xbox and typing messages via controller is too time consuming so I won't be communicating this way if it's ever implemented.

This appeals to a very small group that either doesn't have a mic or doesn't like talking to people. I can understand not being involved in area chat as it's horrendous on console but group chat is ideal when dungeoning.

Well, yes text chat will be far more useful for zone/guild chat. See my other posts for reasons why voice chat is not always good even when grouping though... Mouth breathers, random yelling, random ... strange noises... etc etc

You can already observe that many people don'T like voice chat simply by seeing that no one is ever on there. Guild voice chats are often empty or have a couple people in there out of 75-100 people online. Most people auto leave the group voice chat when doing random dungeons, etc.

Sorry. Don't know anyone that uses a keyboard on their PlayStation. It was quite the hassle trying to use headphones and mic I had lying around so I got Sony ones. I figure it be same issue with keyboard. I seriously doubt many people will use text chat if it's a hassle.

Tell that to FFXIV console players, A LOT use keyboard for chat, some even use keyboard + mouse for actual gameplay on PS4.

Also... seriously ? quite the hassle using headphones and mic lying around ? That sounds PROFOUNDLY lazy lol...

Group chat is a small group so if there's any of that going on I check them on it. I have 0 tolerance for people crunching in my ear or any of that, I've muted real life friends for doing that then text them to let me know when they're done being annoying.

Guild chat text is more useful I suppose.
