more customization in armor crafting

Armor crafting could have a little more customization, what if we were able to craft armor with lower level styles? I prefer to have simpler armor designs, sleveless or short sleeves look better on my character, so I think that it shouldn't be too complicated to add the ability to craft it that way.
So besides being able to choose what armor part, with wich motif, what materials to use, and what special stats to add, add another menu to make us choose if we want it to look like a lower level armor (maybe make it so you can only choose lower level styles.
would you like something like that or am I alone in this?

Well if it's any consolation many of the new styles are identical regardless of material used :p

too bad that those new styles are not what I'm looking for, sleeveless or short sleves, more form fitting designs :(
at least I know I'm not alone in asking for that lol

First off they need to make every dropped set a crafting option. Pointless to craft in this game when dropped gear is almost always better.

It's nothing like the lies they first told us about crafting being the best option back at launch. Can't say I'm surprised though, in a game with as dumbed - down a stat system as this.
    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

That is in the eyes of the beholder. I run crafted sets only and do just fine.

I've suggested this MANY times but.......all they do is have a special stone that morphs ALL your current equipment into a disguise. You can then name it and it will go onto your collectable list that you can then wear (and cannot be undone). Can have say up to 5 and you will have to then destroy one to add others

Weapons would probably be excluded but I would also like to use lower level staffs for instance.

Yes, it has indeed be suggested, many, many times.
Changing styles, both between different racial styles, and between different "levelling" styles (who doesn't hate the high-level breton light shoulders compared to the low-level versions?), and also concerning materials... (red swords? really??)

Could be a special perk for maxing a crafting skill line. Could be done like temper improvements - requiring style materials and perhaps some other resources, with a destruction chance that can be migrated by using more materials... I'd like to see it that way.

Other options that are usually mentioned with the quest for transmogrification are trait-recrafting and gear level enhancement so people can use their all time favorite sets even when the endgame gear level rises sometime... though naturally those options would need to use so many resources that the effort to do this equals the effort it would take to just grab a new endgame set or get a drop with a better trait...

The usually also suggested "just make a custom costume" idea on the other hand is one I do not like. I generally do not enjoy costumes for combat, but wished they would be "out-of-combat" roleplaying support only... and that all those "armor costumes" translated into new crafting styles and a transmog function instead!

shields made from metal, with wep stats not armor.
Deconstructing anyt wep/armor allows for pulling enchanting mats if applied to said piece and you have enchanting skill.

Were we not told that we at least dye costumes? Or wear armor over your poly-morph/skin?

The mechanic for converting to Imperial is already in place. As OP suggests, it would be nice not just to convert ANY piece (whether crafted or found) of armor or weapon to any known style, but also the level of that style. Like the Iron version of the Breton motif, even though you're V16 and 501 CP? You should be able to have it.

Also make dyeable costumes, and ESO characters would be so much more diverse.

OP suggestion is a good idea of implementation. I would like to have all my gear be it light/med/heavy be the same. But for min/max reasons, I have to wear 5/1/1 which changes the look of the style I like. For example I love akaviri light armor but not the med and heavy. Also with this feature, I can change style of gear I crafted that looked good from the small example we can see in crafting window but looks horrible or not as expected once we see it once crafted (this could be solved as well by adding a feature at character select screen to try looks of all armor types in game on out character as well as dye it to see what we like).

...and that is why I took the voidstone blades in stride, metallic colors from bronze to blue steel are all right with me but... sith-red swords??? That is pushing it a little for my taste... ;)
Now i can see why maybe they would not want people to use full dye options to perhaps make it worse... (bright pink swords have been mentioned as a bad example, though I would think most people who play ESO are not that much into "Hello Kitty" stuff, no, not even the Khajiit...), but... at least allowing all the other available metals as choices would be a good thing for the weapon business ends.

+1 this, i hate how almost all of the VR armor style are ugly, i prefer the low level style, i hope zenimax made so we can chose the armor style lvl when you reach VR/max level
