Okay so I somehow lost a trader bid and I have no idea how and I need somebody to explain to me how this is possible. I was at the trader I was bidding on this morning. Nobody else was around the trader and it showed my bid as the highest when the timer hit zero. So how was I outbid? Can anybody tell me?

Trading Bids can last 7 days before they end, so there may have been several Guilds wich placed Bids.

But the minimum bid was still at the amount that I put in. Are you saying that if I bid 5000 and another guild bids 6000, it won't show me the other guilds bid?

It's a blind bid. No other bids are shown at all. You have to put in your bid against an unknown amount of bidders who are all bidding unknown amounts.

The 5000 and 6000 are probably just filler numbers you have posted but for reference, actual bids can range from 100g to 3 million+ depending on the location. Any city location is likely to be 50k at absolute minimum and even then you'd be lucky to get it for that.

As mentioned above... bidding is blind.

I'm assuming that your 5000 gold was an example... if that was the actual bid then that is the reason you were outbid! ;)

Yeah it was an example. Our actual bid was closer to 150k. Give or take 100 or so.

First thing you need to do is find a Cheap Trader location, to get your Guild growing.

Traders can range from 50k to 3 Million

Since others covered how the bidding actually works...

If you're able to be online at the changeover time - your next best bet if you lose a bid is to teleport around like a crazy person and try to find a guild trader that no bid was placed on. If you find one you will be able to get that trader for the week for 100 gold.

lol if you bid in a location of base game content, you will not be able to see players around you, who are in other factions.

For instance if the char you bid with is AD faction, and players from DC and EP are at the bidding spot at the same time, you will not be able to see them, because they are instanced in a different faction, yet the trader is the same.

You can not see who bid or the amount they bid.

Btw. I've seen bids hit higher than 10 million, due to bidding war between 2 guilds in Craglorn :p but usually the most popular locations are between 1.5 million - 3 millions.

I've even seen refuge bids go above 100k ...don't ask me why. It's truely a silly amount for a poopy location. x_x
