Stage 4 is really ugly and makes my character look awful.

What is wrong with that? Your character is awful, foul, ungodly bloodsucker. This is Elder Scrolls, a gritty game of orcish brides riding on bears, not Twillight Saga.

Oh yeah, Serana in the dawnguard dlc was just god awful looking, wasn't she?

Or you mean the elder scrolls that basically advertises with a human with elf ears rather than a real altmer? The fact that stage 4 looks as obnoxious as it is is exactly why people should be able to hide it. It topples everything a vampire ever looked like in TES and guards would be all over someone like that. Instead we're greeted with these ugly things in every town just hammering away at their blacksmithing station with nobody noticing a thing.

Look, if you want to look like an ugly brute, go ahead. But don't desperately look for silly reasons why everyone else should do the same.

as for beast races, they should not change to pure white, its lazy and one of my main points of contention with the way ZOS presents vampires in this game, hell dunmer and altmer, black and yellow skin respectivly, turn white, ive heard redguards turn white purple, its lazy, and frankly, irritating.

Fixed it! But I completely agree. It's silly that you change so dramatically with vampirism unless you have a white character to begin with. I recently bit a Breton and was so annoyed that he looked normal save for the red eyes, meanwhile I've apparently taken a bath in lavender paint :/.

Body markings like tattoos show up through the pale white, so if you find the plain whiteness a boring thing to look at, pick body paint markings when creating your characters.

No they don't, body markings fade. My vampire used to have blue face paint and now it's faded to the point where it looks like he's got a slight bruise on his face.

Also, Redguards don't go white. They go purple. That's right, purple. This is the only picture I can find online as an example and it's not as dark as my Redguard but it still shows a dramatic change:

Please, I'm totally ok with the red eye thing and going pale. I just want to go pale based on my original skin colour. Even stage 1 does this to me I can't escape it without covering my character up completely. And then that destroys the point of having to stand-out so people know I'm a vampire, I can make 0% of my character visible with the right armor/keeping my helmet on.

I just can't see any point to standing out this much.

    Hmm...

I assume that's a Vampire, unless there's a pale white skin option on whatever race this person is which shows his body markings like that.

I personally don't mind how Vampires look in ESO since they are an entirely new type of Vampire to the series (the original strain technically but I digress)

If they said "This is the Skyrim strain of Vampire...the Volkihar....buuuuuut we're gonna make them snow white no matter what race you choose." it'd be a different story.

Or make them Purple in the case of Redguards.

I look at how Vampires look in ESO as a lore thing.

Anyways adding more reasons to stay at stage 1 would be nice, stage 1 does indeed look the best.

It's still lighter than it should be, it's still faded somewhat.

I'll show you what happened to mine. I refuse to show my character in full because wow he looks horrid with this condition and he was so dark before I didn't realise how old I'd made him, but in the Redguard helmet some of his facepaint is visible... or should be, if it wasn't faded. It was dark blue before and was a line across his cheek, and now it's barely visible (granted it's probably more severe than what you posted since it's faded blue on purple for my character). At stage 4, it's practically invisible.
