So using maces is an exploit now?

I fail to see the logic here, maces should penetrate armor because thats their specialty. 80% of the players have medium to low armor rating which makes maces less effective so it should work against heavy armor.

If armor penetration was bugged and using maces helped exploit this bug, then yes it would be.

Wow, I think you dont even have a clue what an exploit is..

Using a skills or gear sets thats overpowered because ZOS made it that way is definitely not an exploit.

All I see is a thread because someone got owned in a 2v1, which is really sad.

Actually, armor penetration is far easier to come by than spell penetration. Magicka has no Mace or Maul equivalent. The only sources of Major Breach are Mark Target (NB only) and Weakness To Elements, which do no damage. There are many sources of Major Fracture like Burning Breath, Surprise Attack, and Puncture, all of which do excellent damage.

Magicka can not penetrate anywhere near as much resistance as Stamina can. Furthermore 3 out of 4 classes and 1 race have large Spell Resistance passives baked right in, Major Ward is far, far easier to find than Major Breach, and Medium Armor has far better armor resistances than Light Armor does.

Magic damage is still far worse than Physical damage in PvP, despite what you read on these forums.

I'd agree that Major Breach is harder to come by, but magicka users get alot of penetration.

    Nirnhoned=18%
    Destro Staff Passive=10%
Light Armor Passive gives 4884 Spell Penetration
4884 would be equivalent to 27% against a target with 18,000 resistance which is around what most bosses have, and probably more than most light and medium armor users have with Major Ward up.

So 55% penetration against a target with 18,000 (45% without a destro staff

    Vs.

34% on a stamina build with a Sharpened Mace?

Most Magickabuilds i know run with 25k+ spellresist + wards.. i can reach ~20k (or even more) unbuffed spellresist with a full-dps-pve-build.

Starting to think about builds myself and threads like this are really disheartening.

I've seen this type of design happen in more than 1 MMORPG. Where tanking/healing is forgot about via developers and PVP ends up as nothing more than a DPS race where every other build is a non-starter.

With the inevitable power creep that happens with all MMORPGs, if they don't catch this now and develop accordingly, while it's young, this will end up the same as PVP in STO, whoever hits the button 1st, WINS! And then, after all of that, PVP dies a rather horrible death, the PVP gamers head off for newer and greener pastures, and PVP becomes non-existent.

STO even had a dev come to the forums and make the statement of "We could take PVP out of the game and no1 would notice".

This happened too in the NGE of SWG. SOE's "fix" was to debuff ev1 who "flagged up" PVP to take a 25% DPS hit to keep the 1-hit wonders out of PVP.

The design of a MMORPG is off when you can negate another's build by 55%. /agree that heavy armor should take more than 1 DPS build to take out.
