As far as I can see some portion of the playerbase (usually the ones who post on the forum) always thinks their favourite MMO is simultaneously the best game out there and broken beyond all hope of repair unless the developers implement every single one of their ideas.

They always think the moment when they will finally happen is just around the corner, surely even the stupid incompetent devs who managed to spew out the best game ever made can see that this persons brilliant ideas are exactly what needs to happen to save the game from itself and it's only a matter of time before they do it.

And yet somehow every patch just makes the game progressively worse (whilst still being better than anything else), but surely the next one will fix it all...

In other words: never. Because no matter what ZOS do, or don't do, someone will be unhappy with it.

The problem with this sort of high-minded finger wagging is that it sets up the very polarized "us vs. them" mindset that is the root cause of every overreaction that gets posted here.

When people feel like real constructive criticism is being ignored or worse, demonized by gratuitous positivism for the sake of it (which is the 8th deadly sin and bane of all mankind), they cannot help but feel frustrated, and that frustration boils over into posts that perhaps don't make as much effort to be so tactful.

Marilyn Manson of all people sums it up nicely. "When we were good, you just closed your eyes. So when we are bad, we'll scar your mind." Not that I personally support or condone such extreme opposite acts of trolling or rebellion as often take place, but it is certainly unfair to lump legitimate feedback into this category in a way that you have to admit came off as pretty insulting.

So, my advise? Avoid being the opposite generalization. Refrain from marginalizing, even if only by clever-sounding insinuation or innuendo, legit and needed criticism and feedback into an all-encompassing "bad" category.

It doesn't actually make you look very clever, and it only makes a bad situation worse and more frustrating than it already is.

ESO will never return from the Dark Side
No online MMO is perfect, probably never will be in my lifetime anyways, maybe someday when someone in say Germany can play a MMO / online game with someone in the USA at the same speeds/consistency as a Lan party can in one room we could have some decent consistence online game play, as it is there are too many jumps/hops and skips in the system that wont be improved for many years. maybe never , who knows.

I voted no, not because ESO is a bad game, just that there are too many other non game issues that are causing some of the problems, granted not all of the issues /problems atm.

I still play and while some of these things are an annoyance, I realize its probably never going to be perfect. Been playing online games for 15 plus years and every game has/had many similar issues and some a lot worst then ESO.

Truth is the game will never be "fixed" in any way that matters. They have chosen a new business model catering to casuals, putting out new content, and new "shinies" in the crown store. I believe they don't have the manpower to work on balance, FPS issues, or lag issues. And at this point, the things they would have to do to fix these broken a** things would be to do something that requires them to say that they were wrong. And I'm sorry, but they will never say they were wrong.

So, they'll continue pushing new content for the casuals, and try to sell some new boxes in conjunction with ridiculous ad PR c**p because it works. And when the new playerbase catches up with the old playerbase and realizes how broken the game is, guess what? They will just find new people to advertise to and sell more boxes and then yank the rug out. It's a never-ending saga of Fanboy -> hopefully optimistic -> "wtf zos?" with the cycle being repeated with fresh blood. How smart you are will determine how long your "cycle" is. Apparently I'm dumb, because it took me two f***ing years to finally take the hint.

"Yes, we all know how ESO is rather broken and depressing at the moment with bugs, balance issues, lag and silly game design."

The game really isn't "broken" as you make it out to be. What this type of statement really means is "I'm not having fun with ESO anymore", or "There are some specific things about the game which bother me, and ruin my experience with it".

To say the whole game is broken is just crazy. The majority of players enjoy it. I agree that there is definitely room for improvement, but it's an ongoing process which ZOS is committed to, as long as people are still playing ESO. If you're that depressed by the game right now, you're never going to get your magical "patch", and may as well go play something else. I won't answer your poll because your view is way too pessimistic.

Yes, if your gameplay revolves around ERP'ing in some tavern in Stonefalls, I'm sure to you everything is perfectly fine. Let me count the ways Zos has dropped the ball (I will try to exclude PVP):
    • RNG is ridiculous (this includes the BS traits argument)
    • FPS drops (hard to finish vMSA with last level at <20 FPS)
    • Latency/crashes
    • Lackluster content
    • Price gouging in the crown store
    • BOE vs BOP
    • Balancing issues (PVE is different than PVP)
    • No new dungeons with Wrothgar or TG (Normal or Veteran)
    • Not creating new Veteran versions of dungeons (Blackheart Haven etc.)
    • Not updating Trials to v16
    • Not updating a lot of armor sets to v16
    and so many more

Some of these are relative and also opinion. But relative to a lot of people and the same opinions as a lot of others as well. Sources: Mountains of pages on the forums, including many that required vote.

Do any of these impact you at all?

For sure. I agree with a lot of your points here. They're all things that can be changed/improved incrementally though. None of them break the game as there is still a lot to love about ESO, all things considered.

I'll stay optimistic and count on ZOS continuing to improve the game as they have been. Just don't expect a fix all patch to come along one day to correct everything at once. It's an unrealistic expectation. They're in a constant balancing act to prioritize updates based on their own agenda and player feedback, while considering both new and veteran players. Can't please everyone all the time.

If ZOE would just fix the STUPID bug/glitch where you need to log out in order for the stuff you bought on a guild store to be mailed to you(or wait a very long time), I wouldn't have any more significant problems with ESO atm, because like any sane person, I avoid the PvP.

Seriously, this has been around since launch...WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO FIX!

Game is done honestly, they literally may have 2-3 weeks to fix it before people start leaving in masses. I can handle some bugs, some crashes but i literally cant play the game at the moment, literally. Could play it before TG, but now i cant with the performance. I cant even control my character.

It's a huge game, and it's a TES game, so I doubt it'll ever be completely fixed.

And true "balance" is virtually impossible with asymmetric classes and constant calls for nerfs, so there's that.
