Master of Heists (when/where do you get it?)

I tested some TG stuff early on when it hit the PTS, but I skipped it the first few weeks it was on PC because of bugs and what not. I recently started the guild quests, have a character at the beginning of some wedding quest, did all of the "help a guild member" quest available to that point, and have the character at guild rank 10. But I see no heist board. I looked it up and there is supposed to be a quest, Master of Heists, that unlocks it. But the option to start that quest has yet to pop up. So, without spoilers, simple question: Do I need a higher guild rank or to get further into the main guild storyline to get the option to speak to Velsa and unlock that quest? "Yes" or "No" will suffice . If "No" I will bug it.

There is a book on the table in the Hew's Bane Refuge titled hit list or something like that. Read that, then you can find the items in the world. I don't think you can find them before you read that book, but I know I did not see the one in the Hew's Bane Bank until I did read it. This was on day one, so it might have been a glitch.

Anyway, find the things then bring them back and put them on display.

Oh, I have the achievement for getting the gold items from Kari's hit list, I just don't have access to the Heist board

Yeah, I recall from the PTS you had to be a certain rank to unlock things, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't already at/over the rank needed for heists. I will keep plugging away then.

I don't think this is one of them, or if it is the level requirement is real low. I know I did not do many of the quests or have much of a rank in TG before I got my first item.

One thing to check, go into Hew's Bane Bank, as soon as you walk in, look the left and slightly behind you and you will see a desk and some clutter. That is where that item is, see if its there. See if the book is there on the table in the Refuge, I believe I saw it on the first day. If the book is there, read that then go to the bank and look for the item.

I don't think the items are there until you read the book, but I have not verified this on an Alt yet. They may be there and I did not see it when I looked the first time.

He's not talking about the Master Thief thing, he's talking about activating the Heist board.

Read a book on the upper level of the thieves den. There is an item in each major city around the world - there are several guides online.

You collect them and place them on display by the bookshelves (where you read the book) just like the Orsinium museum.

Once you place them all, you get the title "Master Thief". You can track your progress in the achievements, don't recall exact name right now.

Understand that they are stolen goods and cannot be laundered, so if you go around and collect a whole bunch and get busted by a guard for some reason, you might lose them, just a caution.

No. You definitely don't need a rank 10. I wonder if it's a bug then, in which case you should probably report it.

Master of Heists is supposed to unlock after you complete The Long Game and possibly you might need rank 3. (I can't say exactly, as I did the things in a somewhat strange order on live, but the 2nd or 3rd quest coupled with a reasonably low TG rank must unlock this )

Do you know where to take the quest though? It's outside the Thieves Den, she'll be sitting at some campfire above the crafting stations... there might have also been a note inside the Den to point you there.

Is Kari's Hit List is a requirement for taking that quest? Regardless, it's a good way to get a bunch of rep though, and a fun achievement.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I am not sure about master of heists, etc. I had access to the heist board very early on.

In fact, I have done only a few of the main story quests and have done about 15 heists already.

Ahh, names are too similar.

I did not see the Heist Board quests until I rescued or helped Velsa with the Long Game quest. Velsa is the one who tells you to meet the Heist giver.

I ran around in Abah's Landing near the TG entrance but only saw the Reacquistion Board and the Crafting Boards. No other new quest marker. I will go to the roof tops above those stations later when I can log in and see if she is there and just missing the marker or whether she is absent.

To unlock the heist board you have to the khajiit merchant dude at a stall in abah's landing. Can't remember if Velsa tells you to go talk to him there. Once you've spoken to him at the stall though he'll say he'll meet you at the den and you should then be able to pick up the heist dailies

Yes, you talk to Velsa, outside the den to get the quest. She'll be sitting between the Den and the crafting area, and she'll send you to Fa'ren-Dar.

You need to be level 5 in the Thieves Guild skilline and have finished the Long Game quest.
Once you are, Velsa will tell you to find Faren'Dar in Abbahs' Landing.

If you have an active quest with Velsa waiting for you somewhere else on the map, you'll have to do it so you can find her in the Den - where she will give you the quest initiating the heists.

No active quests with her. All I of hers I had access to up until now (TG level 10, start of wedding quest) are done.

Yeah, I've been around that area a lot and didn't see her or any new quest marker. When I log on again I will double check to make sure she isn't just there but missing the marker, but if so she is well hidden.

OK, well, no Velsa near the city entrance or external entrance the the Den, with or without a new quest indicator. Not on the ground or the rooftops. Looks like I will be bugging this one. Thanks all for the help in determining if there was a glitch involved

Heists were the last repeatable quest I got from the TG quest line. I think you need a high-ish TG rank to get them.
