Getting Ticks from Foward Camps

This is another way for small and big groups to get a lot of AP for defending a forward camp of their alliance.

The range to get the tick would be the same range to get a tick from a resource.

    With some tweaks, I believe this could actually work really well.

    Forward camps are prominent and fragile. Defending one with enemies in range for any extended period, especially with allies ressing in it and degrading its life, is quite a feat.

    I don't think these ticks should occur in the camp is placed near a resource or keep, but other than that I'm all for it.

    Bridge and gate ticks would be fun, but there are very few places where a camp could be placed near those and not be immediately visible to enemies who can sneak up and burn them or shoot them from afar with siege. Ticks from camps that are actually hidden would be a fun challenge to achieve, as you'd have to draw enemies far away from the traditional combat lanes.

    Just for that reason, I'm for it. Let's give players mobile objectives that they can place around the map and have an incentive to fight over.

    Oh, and that reminds me -- give AP rewards to people in combat over an enemy forward camp when it's destroyed too! Give enemies a reason to hunt down and attack your forward camp / fight around it, and they will come.

    When have dueling guilds ever prevented people from getting emp....by just dueling? Dueling gives very little AP compared to open world PvP, and duelists in general couldn't care less about leaderboard positions.

    For example, we've secured the DC emps on Haderus these last couple of weeks by PvPing both solo roaming and group v group in open world more effectively than the rest of the faction. I've been involved with this game's dueling community for over a year now, and I can't remember a single time a dueling-only player maintained 1st place on a leaderboard ahead of an active open world guild which wanted emp.

    • Remove / Change CPs System, remove current CP/noCP campaigns and introduce one 30days with lock, one with no locks
    • Fix crashes when approaching a keep under attack because of bad / wrong rendering prioritization system
    • Change emperorship to value faction score points and not alliance points - see this and this
    • Fix long loading screens (mostly caused by players joining group out of rendering range)
    • Add 2 more quickslots to the wheel or add a different wheel for sieges weaponry only
    • Fix Balista Bolts not dealing damage on walls or doors if deployed at a certain place
    • Release bigger battlegrounds with 8 to 16 players per team and only two teams
    • Fix the permanent block animation - see examples : link1 link2 link3 link4 link5
    • Gives players 10 minutes to get back into Cyrodiil after relogging / crashing
    • Add a function to ignore the Claiming system of useless rewards
    • Improve the Mailing System / Rewards of the Worthy stacking
    • Assign specific group sizes to specific campaigns (24-16-8)
    • Make forward camps impossible to place near objectives
    • Make snares only available from ground effects abilities
    • Change emperorship to last minimum 24hours
    • Fix body sliding after cc breaking too quickly

    So, when I spent one week on Haderus really pushing hard for emp and was sitting between 2-4 the entire week - but this ONE GUY was always 100K over me I was informed it was because he was part of a dueling guild and he was either being fed D ticks near resources - or he was dueling on a resource and winning the duels and gaining AP ticks.

    Either way you look at it - the forward camps and the usage to obtain defensive ticks would lead to more foul behavior by the player base.

    I honestly do not care one iota about how people want to game the system. I do not care that people want to do whatever they can to make the most AP they can. I have never been given a single AP for free and I hate getting to a fight late and earning a tick for not taking part in a battle. However, I realize I am among the few when it comes to this. The scruples of the majority of MMO players is beyond reprehension in most cases and if you want to argue this - refer to the quote I use in my first line of this post.

    I never said that I don't like openfield fights. I said that it would convince even more people to farm AP openfield when our home keeps are threaten. I enjoy openfield fights as much as everybody, but when I own all my home keeps, scrolls with a good faction score rolling.

    Also, I used to enjoy running in large groups. When they were not creating so much lag.

    I see some form of this every time I play. Blobs are often chased to the middle of nowhere. Like to ominous looking houses with 20ish red circles inside. Sound familiar? ;)

    When players describe the great open field fights they've been having, it's easy to imagine awesome GvG, but I think they're actually describing farming pugs and randoms.

    For EP, it could be the red swords and camps we see usually between Roebeck and Nikel gate once in a while.

    Yes it would convince more openfield fighting but I disagree that people would not defend their keeps as they give D ticks aswell. This is just another way to get mobile ap ticks for people who do not like keep defense.

    how is people spreading out not a good idea in a game that's demonstrated an inability to have large amounts of people stacking one place?

    Thats true, I just feel like a resource is more likely to get a response when it shows up on CyroHUD while a camp people would generally assume its just people dueling.

    Sorry Bit but you were misinformed. The same few who are consistently top 10 for DC are small group or solo 9.9/10 times a day. They just make more AP than the larger groups thanks for the way AP is spread among the group now.

    I think this would be problematic especially when it comes to defending a keep or resource. The enemy could set up a tent that has a range inside the keep, and so when they die, they get defense ticks as well as the offense tick that would go along with capturing the keep (if they capture it)

    I don't need an incentive like a forward camp tick to go fight openfield. I'll go and have plenty of fun with or without it. This being said, I know that a ton of people don't care about campaign scores and we already have a hard time sometimes to relay on people defending keeps when it's time to because they are busy farming some place else. If we get d ticks around camps, it will only get worse so this is the reason why I'm against it.

    • Fix Volendrung (spawn location - weapon white on the map causing the wielder to keep it forever - usable with emperorship)
    • Remove / Change CPs System, remove current CP/noCP campaigns and introduce one 30days with lock, one with no locks
    • Fix crashes when approaching a keep under attack because of bad / wrong rendering prioritization system
    • Change emperorship to value faction score points and not alliance points - see this and this
    • Fix long loading screens (mostly caused by players joining group out of rendering range)

    Either way you look at it - the forward camps and the usage to obtain defensive ticks would lead to more foul behavior by the player base.

    I honestly do not care one iota about how people want to game the system. I do not care that people want to do whatever they can to make the most AP they can. I have never been given a single AP for free and I hate getting to a fight late and earning a tick for not taking part in a battle. However, I realize I am among the few when it comes to this. The scruples of the majority of MMO players is beyond reprehension in most cases and if you want to argue this - refer to the quote I use in my first line of this post.

    Are you talking about Kodi? He isn't being fed jack by anyone. He wouldn't do that, and I can 100% attest that he didn't "game the system." The guy was out baiting zergs to chase him into blue resources where he would slaughter them solo or duo. Or he'd bait them to a tree...or a rock...or a choke...or any other useful terrain where he can get an advantage. The guy's a beast. I don't know who you're getting this allegation from, but it's simply incorrect.

    Same goes for Yoyu and Jordaen, who were the emps before Kodi, and same goes for myself, Shel, and Inigo, who are at the top of the boards this week.

    I think this would be problematic especially when it comes to defending a keep or resource. The enemy could set up a tent that has a range inside the keep, and so when they die, they get defense ticks as well as the offense tick that would go along with capturing the keep (if they capture it)

    The radius to get the tick is not as big as the rez radius. I mean that to get tick you would have to kill people around the FC and the radius would be around the size of a resource tick

    I don't play the game to open field "AP FARM" If that's the sole reason you play the game I guess I feel bad for you.

    I play in a 3-12 person group 98% of the time. For a brief period this past Sunday we made a crew and rolled Azura's with some friends from Khole. It was a blast - everyone had fun - we de-throned the AD emp - took back DC scrolls and left.

    The game is about having fun - so have fun as you wish - and no I was not speaking of Kodi. The person I am speaking of already essentially admitted int his thread how he did it - when I would close to gap to less than 20K he would shoot up another 100K and would not be seen at any of the major offensive or defensive sieges. The fact that the same person wants to be able to set forward camps and get defensive ticks for them is not at all surprising.
