TG Update - Radiant Magelight Needs A Good Nerf

"While slotted, you gain Major Prophecy increasing your Spell Critical rating by 2191. You also prevent the stun and reduce the damage from stealth attacks by 50% for you and nearby allies."

Where do I start? Let's observe this in list form:

    - Spell Crit Rate Increase
    - Immune to Stealth Stuns
    - Halves all damage done from stealth
    - Allies also benefit from stealth defense bonuses

And this isn't even the Active effect. This is just what it does WHILE SLOTTED. C'mon ZOS. You have to see where this is just not fair for those who play stealthy.

    Suggestions:

    - Remove the immunity of Stealth Stun
    - Reduce Stealth Damage reduction from 50% to 10%
    - Stealth defense only applies to the user (Please, stop empowering Zergs)

This ability basically removes the effectiveness of Stealth players.

As someone who has a Nightblade character, I am fine with the Active ability of Radiant Magelight. It's nice that people have a tool to use against stealth players. But these "while slotted" effects aren't tools, they're cheats (unfair advantages).

NOTE: Nightblades aren't the only ones that use and benefit from Stealth.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno

This skill has been around for how long? ...and only now you have a problem with it?

It's funny, everything you complained about is the old form of the skill. No mention of the buffs.

Btw, you do know you, as a stam build can run it as well yes?

The only thing I agree with changing is removing the ally buff.

There are ways around the stun-proofing and lack of stealth damage.

As a nb, you should know them already.

Yeah but that involves me playing a way I don't really enjoy. I assume you're not a Stealth-based player which is why you can't empathize. But to those who are, it forces them to not utilize a stealthy approach which is just unfair because it's a playstyle favored by many people.

What are you, a Sorc? What if they created a Magelight that caused shields to reduce by 50% if the ML user was close to you?

Templar? What if they created a Magelight that reduced the effectiveness of your healing by 50% when in proximity of someone who has this ability slotted.

Point is, this ability it countering (unfairly) a certain playstyle and rendering it almost (if not actually) useless.

I actually main nightblades. I have both a stamina and magicka.

Magicka nb can set up proxy det, wait a few seconds, lotus fan, fear, ultimate. Dead.

Stamina can ambush, fear, then wb or surprise attack spam, with ulimate if needed. Dead.

You shouldn't need the 50% damage buff to kill someone. If you do, that says something of your fighting skills.

If you cannot beat someone in a fair fight duel, you don't deserve to kill him. I'm sorry.

You shouldnt need a crit buff either. Yet its there on the ML skill. And I could say 'If you cannot beat someone in a fair fight duel, you don't deserve to kill him' to anyone using shields or heals or any form of CC. Imagine if they put a shield dispel on cammo hunter - you use it and all enemy shields in range are gone and cant be recast for 6 seconds. Sounds like a good idea?

Funny. Over in combat mechanics there's a thread talking about how wonderful the changes are, the things that happen now just because it's on the bar, that happen without it being active.

How is the skill wonderful because of the changes over there, but same-old because of no changes over here?

Looks like there are subtle changes that could have a sizable impact, to me.

Nerf threads in a Nutshell. OP complains about a skill. Everyone else in thread gives several counters and workaround to said skill. OP LITERALLY responds: (and I quote)
Yeah but that involves me playing a way I don't really enjoy.

So please guys, lets change the game, nerf everything OP doesn't like so he can play the way he enjoys!

LOL +1. Made me spill some coffee.

However, I would like to state that ML needs to only apply to the user please. Getting ball groups buffed is not wise T.T
Also, I used to like it when I could tell who had magelight slotted and who didnt. Maybe make the ball less glowy when slotted (but not active) and then when its activated make it move around more/more glowy purrrrty please? I liked finding ez pz 7/7 light armor targets to one shot. Now when i hit snipe and the guy dosent die cos of mage light I have to use ambush and SA to kill him. I dont like this =(

    He's not wrong.

If the Magelight is performing and doing the same things it always has done, how is it now suddenly overpowered?

You were killing people from Stealth well before this patch, and magelight was doing the exact same things then as it is after the patch. Why do you think that you won't be able to kill people after the patch if the Skill hasn't changed what benefits it bestows upon the player?

First off, I never killed any player from Stealth unless they were already damaged as I don't stack all my stats into Weapon or Spell Damage like most gankers tend to do. Secondly, I would be able to pick who not to attack because I could see that they are running Radiant Light. Now, that's not the case.

Why should you know they are running it? People without the skill don't know that you are in stealth.

The problem with NBs was that they had a get out of jail free card. They could attack some random player, do for a knockout punch to start, judge whether they would win, and then vanish if it wasn't going their way.

It was really lame. Now when they try to surprise others, they might end up the ones surprised. Much better.
