Do it like me - I do not have that much time to play, but I have 2 hours each scheduled per week for Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout NV, Fallout 4 - so with a total of 8h/week I have these games covered - and within a year it adds up to 100+ hours spent on each of those - it's slow, but this way I can play all and have still some time left for ESO and EVE online.

I have a Commodore 128 setup Ive had since my dad bought it new for me in the late 80s sometime. I keep it because I love this game called "Hacker" and the sequel Hacker II. I to this day still play those games. I have morrowind still installed on this pc. I totally get where you are coming from. I get years of enjoyment out of these games.

Indeed, I play all of those since release, so I have played hundreds of hours in them, with the exception of fallout 4. I play as well in a different style - dead is dead - I do not reload, if I die - but create a new character. I have to be super-careful if I want to advance in the game, but I plan ahead and make my time in those games worthwhile.

Sometimes it can be hard to play this way - in Skyrim my highest character made it to lvl 73 (or was it 74?) and then I forgot to hotkey my newly made potions and did not have them available in combat - that is pretty bad for a sorceress in a robe - it got me killed. In Fallout 4 the dead is dead style is horrible to play - due to that explosives are so common it is hard to survive - still I made my way to the institute and am still alive - with my 6th character that is - 5 are in my graveyard-folder already

Yeah yeah it was a lot shallower and I always missed the politics of morrowind and the depth of choices, but there was so much to love. Ever since, I find it hard to enjoy anything other than the bethesda formula to rpg's and I think Zenimax has handled eso really well.

Now, where are my old Oblivion saves.....

Naaah.,Morrowind was the best to me.Way over OB.I hated the fat faces puffy look of the characters, and I couldnt get them to change too much. The story was a bit too short and easy to do. I dont know all of why I didnt like Oblivion, but I didnt.I wanted to,but nope. My favorite will always be Morrowimnd. It fully fleshed out Tamriel so beautifully.

    Having said that,..HAPPY 10TH B'DAY,OBLIVION!

For me oblivion was where they finally hit pay dirt on what combat should be. It was still a bit clunky but far surperior to morrowind's combat. Morrowind did have a better main story, guilds were better, and the world was more fleshed out. And I agree with you on those oblivion character models...They weren't the greatest...but those environments though...cyrodiil was beautiful and imo still looks good to this day (even without mods.) Morrowind's character models were kinda ugly too though and the environments are fugly. Everything was so ashy and grey. And brown lol. With that being said though they are both fantastic games with their own faults.

    Happy bday oblivion.

I guess that is just because the leveling system is a bit awkward in Oblivion - you have to level in an optimal way or you will fall behind your enemies. My tactics was to choose those skills as my main skills, which I do not use often, so that there is always enough time for other skills to get to 10+ advancements, so that I can level 5/5/5 every time.

Levelling system is kinda wonky I don't think it's detrimental to the game though.

Also I am quite annoyed at Oblivion's leveling not the basic idea but the way the multiplier works. So I use a mod that ensures a good level up every time. I don't want to min/max I just want to play in an immersive world without playing the statistics game.

I can still remember how much I was waiting for this game to be released.

The 20 mars 2006, I was waiting in front of a retail store to open because I had to get my hands on it.
I came back home holding it like the Grail.
My hands were almost shaking when I opened the box... I installed it, while deciding what race I would play. Would I stick to dunmer ? Would I play something else ? I said I was going to be a dunmer ! But then... then I wasn't so sure... The possibilities !

I took me 2 hours creating a character that I hated now matter what I tried, then I gritted my teeth when I saw I could teleport right outside the prison in the next town, and after a long moment staring blankly at the screen when I realized how the Dialogue system worked, I uninstalled it and went back to my adventures in Vvardenfell.

    Aaaaah... good times :)
What? Lead? Me? No, no, no. No leading. Bad things happen when I lead. We get lost, people die, and the next thing you know I’m stranded somewhere without any pants.

Like I suggested, if you choose skills as your "main skills" which you rarely use, you will have enough other skills advanced well enough (10+ advancements each) by the time you have gathered 10 advancements in your "main skills" - this allows you to level 5/5/5 with every level and you do not have to pay close attention to stats, but can play the game. Furthermore refrain from the urge to power-level - it will just mess with your fun to actually play the game - it took me a while to figure that out, I was a victim of this power level scheme for a while, but it always leads to far overpowered characters which are no fun to play.

Just because oblivion had fast travel doesn't mean you were forced to use it lol.

I remember in Morrowind how it took me 2 hours to kill a mudcrab because my short sword skill was at fifteen and it kept missing. Somehow my pointy sharp instrument of death was going through my enemies and causing zero damage. I remember after every two steps in a mountainous region I would get to fight a cliff racer. I loved hearing that screech over and over and thinking "oh boy! This again!"

With Oblivion I learnt that fast travel is not a good thing in an RPG - when I used it at first, I realized that I do not get a feeling for the landscape and that the game would be just a sequence of hops between certain locations and that I would miss out on the experience to live and breath in the game world - from that time on I just used fast travel when by an unknown reason one of my horses got lost - fast travelling to a city brought it back again - but otherwise, I did not use fast travel.

In Skyrim this is a bit of a problem, when you do not use fast travel, because on pretty much any journey over land you will encounter dragons and these can get annoying like cliff racers in Morrowind.
