This is interesting to look at once, but as an acceptable in-game mechanic, just supports a poor experience for a lot of people.
People need to adopt a new mindset in PvP: every ally near you is a potential bomb waiting to explode. The less HP/less experienced he is, the more likely he is to blow up and kill you.
Keep this thought in the back of your head constantly, automatically recognize situations that put you at risk (like 9 people looting a chest at once) and vicious death will be a lot less dangerous to you.
One tip: a NB who wants to do what the death recaps above show has to cast proxy det 8 seconds before attacking, which makes a huge red circle appear on the ground that will stay there for 8 seconds. If you are alert(and you should be, considering you knew the NB was out there) you will have 8 seconds to spread out/ use any countermeasures like caltrops, detection potions, etc.

so how often do you 4 man center of ic sewers / Molag bal and red flags?
1. this was meant to be 4 player content, not 8 or 9, you're putting yourself at risk by running so many, allowing prox det to scale so high
2. you can loot chests one or two at a time, not stacking will hard counter vicious death
3. you could just throw down caltrops over the area, hard countering cloak, allowing you time to see the NB and react
I'm not saying there aren't situations where VD is too strong (inner breech, flags), I'm just saying this is your fault for not being prepared

For the record, I didn't care about dying. I thought it was pretty funny actually. This is a game for fun after all. I don't take too seriously.
I already have 5x vicious death 1x ring and neck and 3x light peices. I will be getting another ring tonight since I should be able to afford it. Then it might be others on the receiving end of this.
4 good players yes, 4 random that group up in sewers can rarely pull that off.The centre of IC is easilly doable with 4 people.
You don't need 9 people.
Then PVEr would have nothing to worry about while grinding in a PVP zone
also that will make it even harder for smaller forces to take out large groups.
