Vendor Shoulders

Ever tried to get a DECENT set in Lineage2?
Farmed keymats, mats and recipe on my bounty hunter, did lots of 60% crafts with a Warsmith :) Got recipes from ToI and DVC/Antharas' Lair quests and later spoiled them from monsters for A grade, farmed Silenos for S grade, etc. :) Even though it required a ton of grinding and most crafting attempts at the beginning had a 40% chance to fail (so all materials used were lost), I could choose which set and in most cases which part of that set I wanted to try and get, and - before the introduction of bound armor - all gear could be traded. But yes, acquiring gear required extra work beyond just normal hunting for XP/leveling up.

In ESO we can decide what set and piece we want on crafted sets, boss monster helmets, Tel'Var stone sets, and - to some extent - with the blue PvP vendor bags (only those last ones and crafted sets can be traded). But on many non crafted sets we have very little control over what we get.

You have a chance of roughly 1/1000, for example, to get the item you want when doing a Wrothgar daily quest and all set items you get are bind on pickup. For boss shoulders you need to be lucky to randomly get the ones you need as well. Same for Maelstrom or Master Weapons.

No control over what you get and bind on pickup at the same time is frustrating and it's worse, in my opinion, than having to grind for 20 hours for a 60% chance to get exactly what you want (and being able to buy it from other players instead if you don't want to craft it yourself).

    Edit: To clarify, I think
    - the loot mechanics for boss helmets are fine, because you can work/grind to get a specific helmet (so no vendor needed for those).
    - The mechanics for shoulders are a bit silly (like 5% chance to get the ones you want with a random trait and you have only 1 attempt per day and character). You have a reasonable chance to get what you want if you do a lot of dailies, but for some players who have bad luck this mechanic is very frustrating.
    - Blue PvP bags were fine (some control over what you get and items were tradable).
    - Wrothgar daily rewards are silly (1/1000 chance to get what you want and all set items are bind on pickup).
    - Maelstrom Weapons are a bit silly (like 5% chance or less to get the one you want with a random trait). Again, this works for a player with average luck when doing VMSA, but it's horrible for those unlucky ones who do 100 runs and don't get a single weapon of the type they need.

I'm quite annoyed about this but atleast I'll be able to get kena at some point. Kena won't drop for me AT ALL nevermind divines. I always get ancestor silk legs ect -_- maybe they could make it so you can get divines, impen, infused but its random everytine that set shows up. That way everyobe is still subject to the RNG jeebus.

Kena Impren shoulders is just fine with me. Sure beats the grinding over and over again in hopes of getting the set and the trait you want. I just wish they would do the weapons too like the Masters. I for one am tired of the trials, pledges and Malstorm which most times don't drop what you need anyways. Everything you can get via the trials, pledges, or Malstorm should be available via a special vendor or the crown store. Players should have an option to grind for them or purchase them.

I guess we can all agree that the dominant issue is the RNG ZoS uses for monster pieces in general.

I have done hundreds of WGT runs. Got my first helmet, light reinforced, on my second run. Never ever got a second helmet. Those people saying you should just grind them are wrong, because the RNG can refuse us any drop. Even more for the shoulders. I remember saving up something like 200 keys in preparation for the IC update. I opened them, I got one kena heavy well fitted. The RNG makes proper grinding impossible.
What is wrong in asking for proper traits instead? I don't understand how that impacts your gameplay? I have done more dungeon runs than 99.9% of the game population and I don't give a f*** if someone can get the same items I got after so many boring runs for AP/gold. I can only profit from it as well.

    Crap system?
Has everyone of you evere played another mmo?
Ever tried to get a DECENT set in Lineage2?
You all are too funny, looks like it's the first time you ever played an online videogame xD

Who actually cares? I'm not playing another MMO, im playing ESO, I couldn't care less how hard getting gear is in some random game,

And yes crap system, unless of course you believe a system that has a chance to NEVER drop the set piece you want is a good one? This system rewards the lucky, take vMA for example
I've ran it 20+ times and I have 1 useable weapon (sharpened resto so not even perfect trait) yet I saw someone in my guild get sharpened fire staff on his FIRST completion, that's not rewarding his skill or grinding or whatever else you say to "earn it" that's pure and simple luck

Yep, pure and unfair luck system.
Every game in the world works this way with boss drops, ESO is the best out there since every player has its individual drop and lots of chances, in every other MMO (most of them) bosses has the same chance to drop a single rare item that goes to one of its attackers.
Try to imagine 50-70 people raid trying to kill a monster for 1 hour and 40 minutes, then the boss drops his super-rare helm with a probability of 0.2% and it goes to ONLY one of them :'D other people should shot themselves in the head if you are just sad about this system.
If you want an easy game take a single player one (let's say, fallout4!), pick a trainer and you'll get everything you want within the time you feel :D usually MMOs are a bit difficult and, yep, luck based

Why not make them RNG based from the vender? You buy a bag of a certain weight (light, medium, or heavy), say Molag Kena Light Shoulders Bag, and it has a random trait in it. Costs same as they are now. Then people can still qq about RNG (I bought 10 bags and only got well fitted/exploration/training, I'm quitting the game boo hoo for me). But then, will there be an incentive to run the actual content? Personally. I like how they implemented the system. Guaranteed for a sometimes less-than optimal trait. Run the content for a chance at the trait you want.

I never asked for an easy game, I asked for a better loot system, two completely different things,

Do people seriously believe that if they have one piece of gear with a less than perfect trait, it will seriously impact their gameplay?

yes they do> they follow some streamer hero with legendary gear with stuff perfect trait> so if they dont do exacly same they cant do the exact same job> solo alone 20-50 ppl.

Or perhaps we know that Infused sucks? Perhaps we want to optimize our characters? Divines is the most versatile trait that also gives the most raw benefit and to deny us at least divine shoulders if not heads and shoulders is an absolute insult to people who acatually care about doing more than 5k DPS, considering that we want to work for our gear but we can't. Instead we have to settle for *** infused or wait weeks, months, or years to get the item we want.

Divines on a shoulder upgraded to legendary is 7.5%. A DPS mundus like Thief is 11%. 0.075 x 11 = 0.825% critical chance. Do you really think that missing out on less than 1% crit will reduce you from 20K to 5K DPS? Stop exaggerating. More like 20K to 19.9K DPS. Having 2 pieces of Molag Kena is the important threshold. That is the big boost in DPS. And that is what the vendor provides. The extra 0.825% crit from Divines is an extremely minor addition to DPS.

It's been said several times, read what ZOS have posted.

    It'll always be infused.

You want a good trait, farm it.

Imho infused is still better than "well fitted" or "sturdy"
