Is there a good amount of content for f2p players?

If I'm not subbed to eso plus and don't buy the dlc, what is there for me to do? Just curious :) Please try to keep edgy or salty comments out of the thread as I'm looking for a straightforward answer :)

you have all the normal quests that run through your starting areas then cold harbor and then you get acess to the other alliance quest lines and cragglorn you also have cyrodiil for pvp(which is fun and where most pvp action happens) and all the dungeons/vet dungeons and trials that come with the base game it is still a bit of content without the dlcs

If i'm not wrong eso is B2P.
Every patch has something for everyone and if you don't want to buy nothing you have 17 zones full of quests 16 normal dungeons some veteran dungeon. there is enough stuff for at least 6 months if you have just started

Well, I have 4 Mains that I have been playing since Launch or close to it. Without the DLCs I still have content to do, even on the characters that have done most everything. And, I rarely PvP, so there is that.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

There are three starter zones, sixteen solo PvE questing zones, one group PvE questing zone and of course Cyrodiil for PvP. Each PvE zone has a full quest line as well as many side quests, solo dungeons, public dungeons, group dungeons, world bosses, dolmens, etc.

Basically everything the players had access to up until August last year, so the first 1.5 years the game was out. It's a lot. If you make alts then you have years of content to play through.

There is a lot of content if you buy the base game. Some people take a full year to finish all the base game content. I played nonstop at launch and it took me 4 months. If you are going to listen to the voice acting and pay attention to the story, the game has a ton of content.

Just to be clear, the game isn't free. You will have to buy the base game, but then you have access indefinitely at no extra charge.

    not much.

outdated trials in craglorn - not properly adjusted to the players powers such rather boring even if you are interested in PvE. and the daily dungeons wich have the same problems as above as you have no access to the only two engageing dungeons.
and you are "severly" hindered in PvP as you have no access to grindable jewlery slots above vet14. as they require one of the DLCs or tons of AP from PvP.

You have questing, standard dungeons, crafting, V14 trials and the alliance war in Cyrodiil. With the DLC's you basically get more of the same stuff but with the zones scaled to your level up to V16. The base game currently only goes up to Veteran Rank 14. So Basically, if you want V16 content, you need to sub or buy one or more of the DLC's.

If you have just started playing and you enjoy PVE content there is a lot of content to do in the game, as listed in posts above. I'd say enough to keep you occupied for at least a year if you are a casual player (people who play more than an hour a day every day are not casual imo).

If you have been playing more than that of if you only like PVP and/or trials and group dungeons you may find yourself limited unless you subscribe/ buy DLCs.

I am subbed and have access to DLC's yet I've hit max ranks on 4 chars long before I even considered doing any of the DLC content, which for the most part is VR16 (you do get upscaled if you enter at low levels, but it's max lvl content nonetheless)
2 of my toons haven't even finished Cadwells Good (included in the base game) because I maxxed out long before that and didn't have the willpower to carry on.

There is plenty to do, if you don't rush through everything but take your time, visit everything, explore everything and Kill things in between - you should have zero problem with leveling or amount of content to consume.
People that do complain about lack of content are usually long term players who have done it all on multiple chars, like me (but I don't complain though, I just don't do it :P ) and have gotten bored with it. There certainly isn't a lack of things to do for a new player.
Even if you don't own the DLC's - you can reach end-game easily and things like dungeons/raids/trials/PvP is not behind a DLC wall - it's all part of the base game.

Minor nitpick, five starter zones. Stros M'kai, Betnihk, Kenarthi's Roost, Bleakrock, Bal Foyen. That said, Kenarthi's Roost is twice the size of the others, and the others are in pairs, as you progress through the zones.

    What the base package offers:
    • 18 zones w/ Central Cyrodiil and the Alliance War (AvAvA)
    • 50-100 quests per zone
    • 126 delves
    • 16 public dungeons
    • 16 group dungeons
    • 8 veteran group dungeons w/ hardmodes
    • 4 trials w/ hardmodes
    • ~3000 books
    • ~300 skill points
    • 22 / 28 craftable equipment styles (remaining 5 can be purchased from other players)
    • 23 / 29 craftable sets (remaining sets can be crafted by and traded from other players)
    • 4 playable classes (of 4)
    • 25 / 26 skill lines
    • Fully voiced
Basically any item found or made in a DLC can be acquired through a player possessing the DLC(s).
AvAvA is Alliance vs Alliance vs Alliance, colloquially referred to as PvP.

Took me about 8 months to go through all this.

The base game has everything. The entire main story line, Cadwell's silver and gold (basically after you've done your faction's zones, you get access to the other faction's zones and quests, effectively tripling the content). You also get access to Craglorn, which is a group zone tuned for groups of VR12 players.

What you don't get are acess to the 3 DLC packages (Imperial City, Orsinium and Thieve's guild).

So if you're just buying the game, there are at least 3 months worth of content to go through before you need to consider of you want to subscribe or purchase the DLC packages.
  • Orion_Sixx
I've been playing since it dropped on ps4 and still have a ton to do with baseline content. Some of the best part of the game is the people you meet and chaos that is spread through out dungeon runs. In short it's just fun to play if you have an imagination that will let you escape the craziness that controls our life.

If you don't have access to the DLC, you have access only to around 80% of the game. and about 90% of the end-game.
Being the things that you DON'T have access to : *besides teh actual entire zones that come in those dlc
1 - Trial (currently the only one that by level is considered end-game; so, out of the 4 trials, you can only do the 3 that are as high as Vr12'ish, 4 ranks below the actual max level today)
2 (two) group dungeons. in a dlc zone that in some days are the actual daily mision you have to do in order to level a dungeon delving skillline for passives. * so that can be annoying since 2 days out of 12 or so you can't do the Veteran (actual end-game) version of that daily quest *
And finally, a lot of petty pretty stuff from the cash shop.
You want a puppy to follow you ? shame.

Also Hew's Bane is not an option.

Ironically, Thieves Guild added the one thing you'll probably notice as a free player, you can't access. Thieves Caches are scattered across the map, but you can't open them unless you have the TG DLC. That said, those might not even be visible to players without the DLC, I've heard this both ways, so that might not be an issue.

As it is, their normal content is pretty underwhelming, though they can pay out with a piece of gear scaled to your level from one of three stealth-focused sets.

You have your faction zones. When you finish that you go do a reskin of that same content in the other faction zones. That's base game.

Finding a trove in Orsinium and being curious as to its contents was what prompted me to pick up the TG DLC, so yeah, they are definitely visible to players without Thieves Guild purchased. Likely to specifically tease players like me who were originally going to wait to buy it until the crowds went down a bit (or in my case, until my sister could join me).
