Character transfer to Japan Servers in June.

I absolutely love this game, and I've been chugging my way through PVP with my 300+ ping since PS4 launch back in June playing from Osaka, Japan on the NA megaserver. I still enjoy it when it's steady, but quite often it makes my PVP experience unplayable.

Now that a JPN launch has been confirmed for June 23rd, 2016, I just wanted to ask if all of the asian/aussies/kiwis etc will be able to transfer their characters over to this new JPN server?

I'm a casual, and the thought of re-rolling everything will probably kill me. haha

Cheers and thank you!

Not sure about this but they might have ip lock or something possibly making it where only japan players get to play on the japan server, I don't see why they don't make it an open server not make it an open server.

I think japans more closed off when it comes to there own mmos, like dragons dogmas online they have that out, but its for japen players only. Might be laws or such that prevent them from allowing other countries access.

Doubt it'll improve your pvp experience. Even if you were in the same country as the sever you'd still lag all over the place :(

Thing is I think it depends on the company, that is selling the game. Certain gameing companies with more china interest, that have companies like perfect world owning a usa company like cryptic. Basically, games like star trek online have ip block for certain countries, South Korea is one of them. I guess its more political interests when it comes to things like that.
Perfect world is one of the greedest companies , as well as allowing there games to be ridden with bots and not doing anything about them. Basically pay/grind to win is perfect worlds model when it comes to its games.
But I don't think zenimax has ip bans unless its countries they are forced to ip ban by laws and sanctions, I don't think the usa or eurepe would allow people to have access to games such as this, for countries like iran and north korea. I have no idea and thats my guess, they might be able to play eso. They might have unbanned iran but most likly then not North Korea is not allowed access to the game.

Maybe the JP version will not be synced with NA/EU version. And I heard that company used to ban oversea IPs.

Do we even know if this will involve a Japan-based server? It would make sense but I haven't seen that confirmed. A lot of work to localize the game, though, language, etc. So even if folks from New Zealand and Australia can access the Japanese version on a closer server, they might need to learn Japanese...

People said the same thing when the console versions were announced (or rather when ZOS confirmed they were going to continue working on them since they were originally announced before launch) - that the PC version would be forgotten, or at best it'd be nothing but a beta test for consoles who would get all the best stuff and all new content would be designed for consoles first with PC as an afterthought. I'm sure some people will insist that's exactly what happened but it certainly doesn't seem that way to me (as a PC only player).

I suspect this will be similar, there might be a short period when development of new stuff slows down so some of the staff can focus on localisation and any other changes that need to be made, but after that it'll go back to normal.

Yeh I would like to see their metrics as games like TES/ESO typically don't fare too well in Asian markets.

If this is really happening, @ZOS should definately allow players to transfer their characters but with a cost. It should be reasonable though, something like $10-$20 US for the move. This would give them an incentive to make the move available as they are in business to make money.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno

I just became aware of ESO Japan launch while listening to the latest ESO live. I must say I'm very excited about the idea of playing with ping less than 200 despite having blazing fast internet service.

    A couple questions:

Will Japan get its own megaserver?

If the answer to 1st question is "yes", will the service of account transfer be provided for free or at cost or at all?

If so, what are players interested in this service required to do.

    Thank you

Cyrodil is unplayable for us Europeans too, I can play during Mornings but when Evening hits, the lag comes. I hope they merge Japan with Europe, we should get one good megaserver for years to come and avoid F2P, game discounts, trials etc. If forum dwellers speak the truth NA has 3 good Cyrodil Campaign so they are good, but on EU its different story.

Japan should have ES fans, BloodBorne, Dragon's Dogma comes from there. Japan is actually quite Western, as far I know Japan is melting-pot of East and West.

It's not a law. It's preference. Japanese culture is very different from that of most western nations. We are considered very loud and impolite in almost all things we do.
