Woo hoo! That's GREAT news!! Thanks @smacx250 ! That's a HUGE selling point for me! ZOS can consider it SOLD. (I already bought the crowns, so I guess, as far as ZOS is concerned, it IS sold. heheh)

One word of warning... If you do not want the skill line, do not touch a TROVE. As soon as you interact with a trove, you get the skill line, along with the passive that allows you to interact with them. They will glow. They will hum. They will call out to you from 50 feet away. Resist!

My "lawful good" character has the Thieves Guild skill line because I saw "blue glowing thing" and thought "Mages Guild lore book" and touched it before I noticed that it was not that at all.

Indeed, and that is one of the things I do like! Since I have three "rougeish" characters, who will do TG... and five others who never will.

Eeep! Oh, well... that's not such a good design then, I'd have wished for the troves to just sit and remain untouchable for thise not into thievery, taunting them with thge loot they could steal if only they were to become lawbreakers...

Makes me wish the game had a way to remove accidental TG skill lines. And maybe some "Iron Wheel" passive line for those who want to play as lawkeepers instead (hey, even without the PvP component of the justice system, it'd be nice to have a skill line like that... one that would auto-prevent you from stealing anything... and gave you lawkeeper passives..)

heh. Sorry @Volkodav , to me the term "Handed to you" is the same as saying "it's easy" as in:

give/hand something to somebody on a plate

to let someone get something very easily, without having to work for it "

I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth, I think we probably just use that term differently.

I'm not against the glow being something we can earn, and I get that it is mostly there to entice players who don't own the DLC into buying the DLC. Mostly I just want a way to turn the damned glow off... it's quite distracting.

Also, I'm curious. If I buy the DLC do I automatically get the Thieves Guild Skill line on all my characters? I would earnestly hate that. I have ONE character that is a thief, a few that are "neutral" and one that is "Lawful Good"... I really don't even want the Thieves Guild skill line on this character.

I am subscribed, was never in Hew's Bane and got the thief skill line and the "finders keeper" perk unlocked when I opened the first thief trove. So I am not really a member of the guild, but I have the skill line - even it does not seem to advance - at least not from troves, I guess I have to do guild jobs and guild quests to get this skill line to advance.

Edit: so basically never touch a thief trove, if you have access to the DLC, or you will get the skill line, TG member or not.

Oh... so finally they make something easy to see for us color blind folks and everyone wants to take it away. Fine then. Just fine. I don't think the problem is they are too intense, I think everything else is not intense enough. Everything must glow!

You also gain the Thieve's Guild skill line simply by opening a Thieves Trove for the first time, even if you haven't been to Hew's Bane or started the main Thieve's Guild quest line.

I think the glow is fine personally, I'm more upset that it requires the first quest in the thieves guild to be completed in order to spawn them.

Kinda sucks if you're holding on until VR16 so that the armour is useful.

Yeah, in my experience, it is not necessary to get anywhere near the Thieves Guild quests before these things start to spawn. That might be a bug, so we will see.

You do not even need to do that - just having access to the DLC is enough - I never was to hew's bane and never spoke to Quen yet, and could open the thief trove and got the skill line, without to be a TG member at all.

So... if I don't want the skill avoid them like the plague! Got it!...So NOT having the skill on a character is going to be sort of like an unspoken achievement. That's kind of cool.

I'd still like the option to turn off that glow though, OR have the glow attached to a Thieves Guild passive once you buy the DLC.

I really don't care much about the glow, I like to be able to discover them using my ears. As soon as I hear the buzzing sound I start looking from where it is coming from, what is quite easy using earphones and 1st person view.

Really? I got the Thieves Guild skill line on my main character just by going to Hew's Bane. Quen was hanging around near the wayshrine, but my character didn't talk to her. I was a bit annoyed, since he is strictly Lawful Good and would never join the Thieves Guild.

How did you get to Hew's Bane without starting the quest? At first I thought I could just zone there, but it wasn't even shown in my map. I had to go into the outlaw refuge to get the quest started.

It's just that where I come from something being "handed to you on a silver platter" is an insult.Or something your mother tells you when you ask for something and dont have your own money.

I think that these troves are visible for all and glowing is more kind of a tease to buy the DLC or get ESO+ membership and intentional. What is a bug IMO is that you can access these troves, when you have access to the DLC, even without being a member of the thief guild, because the description says, that it can just be accessed by TG members. So either the description is wrong or it is a bug.

I think the description is just wrong, It'd be kinda sucky to miss out on a piece of the VR16 set gear just to get the troves active.

Also it's likely that those without the dlc can't see these troves.

I still think the troves shouldn't glow or make sounds for the base game. I don't have problems with people seeing them in the old world zones or accessing them.

If anything make it so you need to put points into a skill that lets you see troves/chests/lockboxes similar to trade skills. A character puts several points into a Legerdemain skill that lets you see them all glowing.

I am of two minds on this @badbeansnub18_ESO

On one side, I think it breaks immersion in the world and is a little to "in your face" and it feels out of place and forced and I would welcome them to be silent, light-less boxes in the world as that would make them more unassuming and less annoying.

On the OTHER side, ZOS needs to advertise these somehow and these little boxes are a pretty good way to do this. Having them glow will no doubt draw players to them and give players the opportunity to buy the new content.

Personally, I would like the glow to remain as it is now and then when we buy the DLC the troves shut up and stop glowing until you level up a "Thieve's Sense" skill. The highest level would be what we have now. Level it if you want, don't level it if you don't.

How about if it had a small glow only when you got close to its with the Ore or other mats.Only you see the glow not others, and it is small when you get close. You wont see it when you are like half a block away. I dont mind the sound,as it is like the Nirn Root.It just lets you know you are near it. Kinda like it sings to you. XD

I like the audio clue you get when you are near one. I was in Shadowfen last night and kept hearing one but I could not see it. I kept going around in circles in this area trying to find it but it was nowhere to be seen. Eventually, I looked up and saw it sitting on a tree branch. It took some fancy jumping to get to it (made more difficult due to the current jumping bug) but I eventually got it. Found a nice purple ring inside!
