Maintenance for the week of November 17:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – November 17
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – November 17, 6:00AM EST (11:00 UTC) - 4:00PM EST (21:00 UTC)
• Xbox: NA and EU megaservers for maintenance – November 19, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EST (17:00 UTC)

Game sorely needs a difficulty slider, it's just too damn boring to quest.

    Skip a zone. I went from rivenspire straight to bangkorai skipping alik'r desert. Made things a bit more interesting.

    I've done this before, on my main (dragonknight, level 40-something?). Then you are missing vast amounts of content in earlier zones.

    I want to quest and adventure in Auridon right now, but I just can't force myself to play for more than 20 minutes before my eyelids start weighing 20 lbs each.

    If they put a doom stone at each starting zone that I could run up to, click on, and select (say) one of 3 different levels of nerf (hard, very hard, extreme), then *poof* here's what just happened:

    - the rest of the entire game is instantly more fun for me and gives me incentive to do all the zones in the right order;
    - it gives me an incentive to wisely choose all my talents, points, etc at level up;
    - it truly forces me to use game mechanics (dodge, block, LoS, etc) because enemy attacks will hurt a lot more;
    - I am required to be aware of my surroundings, because I don't want to pull multiple enemies;
    - I am required to invest time in farming and professions, because I need those valuable upgrades;
    - ????
    - profit

    And you know what? Something like this could be coded into the game in a week by a ZoS intern.

    I was with you right up until the last line. Coded in a week by an intern?

    It seems to me the people who often say the game is too easy or boring are the same one's who grind to max CP and and run trial after trial to get that end level gear.

    If you want a difficulty slider, there it is. Go back to using low level weapons and armor.

    Or, check out dome different MMOs. There are a few out there, where you will be griefer bait for the first, oh, two or three years until you can build up your own "skills" ... I mean stats.

    Yet the OP said he's running a lvl 6 green bow and no armor except for the starter pants, no set items. He can't really do it less than that, yet still kills everything super fast.

    I was actually replying to a different post than the OP, I should have quoted it. If someone has a low level char like that and are one-shotting things, then they probably have a ton of CP.

    Again, it's normally the folks who grind out max CP who come back and complain the game is too easy.

    There's a free market, and it's full of MMO's where you can be griefed constantly by higher stat players, if you find that sort of thing "challenging". None have the player base of quality of content that ESO has, granted.

    Going back to the OP, remove your CP, then tell us you can one shot anything with your bow.

    I'm pretty sure he stated he has no cp.

    Nothing in the OP says anything about champion points. If he's one shotting with a lvl 7 toon, he's using CP to do it. Period.

    @jkemmery If you read through the thread, he says his main (his max lvl) is lvl 40 something. I take that as a statement of no cp. Indirect, yes.

    @Shunravi

    So I guess he's just that good then. I'm sorry, I don't buy it. The game is not exceptionally difficult, I grant you that: it's not intended to be; it's a game designed for mass appeal. However, when someone comes on and makes these kinds of claims, seriously, it's trolling. No more, no less. The game is what it is. Accept it for that. If you're looking for the ultimate challenge as a hard-core gamer, then this game probably isn't going to satisfy that. But I find it highly suspect that someone is one - shotting enemies at lvl 7 with no CP. Everyone else should too, because we play the game and we know how things work. Moreoever, the OP has 3 stars and has been posting on the forum for a year and a half. If that player only has a max 40 char, and has no CP (meaning they didn't delete their vet toons), do you really think he would be one - shotting enemies with a lvl 7? Really?

    Sorry, I don't buy it. This is a troll thread, as far as I'm concerned.

    I was one shotting at lvl 7 when the game launched on pc. I can totally believe it.

    This was back when things were more challenging. Back when there was no cp. Back when I had no gear. Back before people qq'd and got everything nerffed. If they couldn't settle for the game being how it is, why should I?

    And tenure on the forum means little. I know a few people from launch who haven't broke into vet yet. I'll admit I haven't read through his post history to see any comments about vet or not, but simply having been here means little. Especially if he just came back from hiatus.

    @Shunravi

    I guess there are those among us who just posses extraordinary gaming skill. I've leveled up new toons and have not been able to one shot anything, especially at such a low level so, maybe I just suck, who knows?

    I think the goal of this game is to have a broad appeal so that all kinds of players can enjoy it. Maybe you would be happier playing a more hard-core game then? There are plenty out there. I would give you names, but I'm not sure it's really appropriate on a Bethesda forum.

    I find the game to be challenging enough to be entertaining while not being so difficult as to be frustrating. I play for entertainment.

    I'm not opposed to the idea of a difficulty slider in PvE, but not at the expense of a whole lot of other things I would want for the game first.

    Have you tried stealth attacking? I really don't know how much skill it takes to stand behind a guy and charge a heavy attack, but I wouldn't think it's all that much. I guess positioning is just such an 'elite' concept that it can't be used by anyone under vet level? I mean, seriously, it's not that hard to move around behind a guy and hold down a mouse button. I guess I do just have such amazing skills that I can do such an amazing thing....
    :trollface:
    I'm happy playing this game thank you very much. I'm not going to go over to eve or the secret world, or go solo in the souls franchise simply because I don't like where the devs nerfed things to.

    I also play for pure entertainment and fun. Mowing things down is neither. (I compare it to walking down a bowling alley and kicking the pins down and calling it a strike.)

    Now, we both have our selfish desires for the game, you want other things before something like this, and we want this before other things. And that's why we are discussing :)

    I have a VR16 DK that I use Camo Hunter, Combined with Rally and attack with Critical Rush from stealth. I have never once been able to one shot kill anything with this attack method. I have all purple VR15 armor, 5 Hunding's Rage, 4 Night Mother's Gaze, all purple stamina enchantments, chest and head are heavy, the remainder medium, mix of Divines and Infused traits, Theif's stone. 2 handed skill line is at 50 and Critical Rush is maxxed.

    Please tell me what I'm doing wrong then?

    Not heavy attacking from stealth?

    You arent lvl 7 in a lvl 7 area? :trollface:

    Heck, a wrecking blow from stealth should be hitting for arround 40k.

    Are you talking pvp here?

    Doesnt crit rush take you out of stealth?

    I never had substantial gear all the way through to vet10 back then. I think the only one i ever used till then was the one that steals hp if your hp gets to low. And that was only because it went with my lifestealy casualish RP for my class. Did you know the forceful passive actually hit harder out of stealth than a heavy? I could oneshot a guy and his friend standing next to him with a 2hander. Everything except bosses.

    @Shunravi

    What class are you?

    Same as the op. <-(very relavent no?)

    And blah blah nb op and all that. Im talking back in the day when both nb and 2h were considered the most underpowered things in the game.

    I've never been able to one shot anything with any attack, ever. Maybe it just sucks to play a Nord DK? I don't know. Maybe my fat, 48 year old fingers don't press the buttons with the agility necessary to make those kinds of things happen? Who knows. I think of all of the things this game might need the devs to spend time on, adding a difficulty slider is pretty low, considering you can easily nerf yourself by using low level gear. Or maybe your NB toons really are THAT OP. I know it sucks to think about it, but I have been playing this DK since almost launch. Never once have I one shot killed anything ... so what does that tell you?

    I've done the same on my dark elf dk alt too fyi. Its just a heavy attack. All you need to do is hold down a button.

    Until I you post a video of it happening, I'm sorry, I don't believe it. Heavy attacks just don't do that much damage. I can't argue what a NB could do casting cloak and walking up to someone ... but a DK doesn't have a cloak. I find it difficult to swallow. I call B.S. until I see it actually happen.

And again, i wish i had a video from back then. But i might make one. I dunno. Depends on how much i want to prove the point.

    I've been posting on these forums for a year and a half, yes, and my main still isn't max level, no, and I'm not an awesome gamer either. I kind of suck at games, actually.

    The reason I have been posting for so long and still don't have a max level character is because I don't play the game enough. I'm on a F2P account and I think the game is boring as hell, which is why I cannot advance in level.

    I come to the forums to post threads like these in the hope that one day a simple difficulty slider to nerf my character for solo play would make the game actually interesting to play and level up in. Not because I am that good, but because I find that the game is just that bad.

    I don't want any additional rewards. I play ES games for the story and atmosphere as well, but it's hard to get into it when there is no excitement anywhere to be found.

    And how exactly would a difficulty slider be implemented into a persistent world shared by everyone that plays?

    By debuffing your stats, it would only affect your own character and not the world.

    If you want a difficulty slider, there it is. Go back to using low level weapons and armor.

    Or, check out dome different MMOs. There are a few out there, where you will be griefer bait for the first, oh, two or three years until you can build up your own "skills" ... I mean stats.

    The video is uploading.

    You'll see. I start at level 7, finished at lvl 8 (lol yay me I leveled!) and by the end of the video you'll see me 1-shotting level 12 npcs with one sneak attack.

    At the end I sneak attack a group of 3 level 12 NPCs with my naked level 8 NB, I have to slightly retreat before I wipe them. I take a bit of damage at the end but only because I got a bit complacent.

    Seriously this game is a joke. I can't imagine how easy these mobs would be if I paid even a minimum amount of attention to my gear and skill trees.

    Anyway once the vid is uploaded to youtube I'll post it on the OP (page one of this thread) so new people can witness my epic skillz (lol) right away.

    P.S. I didn't use a single heal ability or potion.

    Can't you essentially nerf yourself by wearing lvl 3 armor and using lvl 3 weapons?

    @Shunravi

    Roll up a Nord DK. That's my max level and main toon. I don't find the game to be so easy it's boring. Actually right now, it's just about right for me. Maybe you just chose too well to begin with.

    My main is a lvl 46 (I think?) Nord DK. I have stopped playing for quite a while, tried to roll a NB because I thought maybe if I started naked I'd be squishy. I was wrong.

    On my DK I started soloing dungeons for a while, but even that got too easy. I still try questing just for story, but I simply don't take damage at all. If I do, I press one button and I'm full HP again. It's sad.

    Maybe one day I'll get to max level, maybe not, I dunno.

    I'm calling B.S. on this too. What one button are you pressing to get back to full HP again?

    I'm calling troll, and B.S. on this thread.

    healing ward etc, 1 button and full health again ;)

    You can't use both Healing Ward and Wrecking Blow. Can you even cast Healing Ward on yourself? I don't use Resto Staff, but from the description of it, it shouldn't self heal you up to 100%.

    The point is moot, I don't ever use healing on this character. It's a restriction I've self-imposed to add more challenge (to no avail).

    OK, well, I can go in to a low level dungeon and one shot Lvl 5 mobs. That's not what I'm talking about.

    I have a heal ability on my main, my Nord DK.

    I do not have heal abilities on my alt, the NB.

    It is not a contradiction. But you lack imagination, so we can forgive you.

    I'm making a video because people are calling me out to specifically make this video.

    Now you're pre-empting exactly the proof I am going to provide by calling it "pointless".

    God, people accuse ME of being a troll here. I can't win with you people...

    Dude, read your own thread. He's calling me out too.

    Seriously man...

    I guess you completely missed that shield next to the 3?

    So what is this magical one press and instantly heal yourself button then? Please let me know, I've never heard of it, and I'm all for anything that will improve my game play.

    Sorry, I am starting to lose track of who's who in this thread, lol. Sorry to sound defensive, I keep fighting people off left right and centre.

    My video is almost at 90% uploaded by the way, it'll be up in a couple minutes.

    I can't remember what the ability is called, it's been too long since I've played my DK. I have it on my ability bar. It's an ability that heals me for a very good chunk of HP (like 40% of my bar or something) as well as giving me a shield. Heart of something-or-other? It's a Draconic ability, can't remember, sorry. But I can use it like 3 times in a row even though I haven't spent a single point in Magicka.

    Any time I get in "trouble" (never happens) I just press this button. If for some reason my keyboard gets disconnected for a full minute against a quest mob and I lose even more hp, I just have to plug it back and and *gasp* press this button twice. Full HP.
