Zhaj'Hassa the Forgotten Damage Tick Question

What causes the Forgotten's 70% and 30% attack to tick for about a thousand more damage. With my current damage mitigation I either get 3.5k ticks or 4.5k ticks and am looking to understand what is causing that difference. Could it be because of the Forgotten feeding from the Void?

That is a mechanic to the fight which must be discovered. We try to message throughout the fight the changing conditions. We will take a look and make sure that messaging is happening consistently.

@ZOS_Finn , I understand if the development team will not release information about mechanics. Though it would be nice if there was more information made clear as the community does fail from time to time in discovering mechanics such as weakness and resistances.

I thank you for giving a look into the messaging because it can be hard to figure out trial mechanics due to people not being able to focus on what is happening out of the need to continue their role. It can also be hard for the community to figure out mechanics, not just because of not caring enough as in the case with resistances or weaknesses, but also because groups tend to not want to share the secrets that they have found.

This being said, maybe it is time that we all discover what the Void feeding mechanic is and how important we should consider it. I pose the questions to other groups.
    1. How is the Void feeding connected to the orbs? Does it take a certain number of dark orb interactions to trigger the feeding?
    2. How is Void feeding related to the bosses damage output?
    3. How long does the Void feeding buff the boss?
    4. Does Void feeding affect the summoned cats damage?
    5. Based on the above information, how do we feel about the Void feeding mechanic.

And now I will answer my questions, but please understand that I can be very wrong here as I am pretty focused on tanking the boss rather than laser focusing on how the orbs work.
    1. Several, maybe 3 to 5, but maybe each one can have an extremely small effect.
    2. 25% damage increase or maybe a smaller percent damage increase that can be built upon by future Void feedings
    3. Maybe 30 seconds or is a permanent effect with a smaller than 25% damage increase
    4. Yes?
    5. Developers always have to be careful of not crossing the line of what is too random. I don't personally enjoy avoiding orbs as a tank because people literally depend on me moving as little as possible, but there are worse things that I could be doing (like having to switch to a DPS mid dungeon). Sure there is some level of exciting to avoiding something so random in it's movement, but I have also felt alt that "great, got hit again, not much I could have done about that other than constantly rotating my camera around."

How do I get those messages throughout the fight? Because I don't get any.

About the mechanic: we also saw that the ticks differ from time to time. But if I remember correctly, it wasn't even always the same amount for everyone in the group, but was different from player to player (I am not sure about this, this needs further investigation).
We haven't done any further testing on this, but our first thought was, that it is calculated for each individual player and depends on the number of orbs that one has absorbed.

Well, we would expect there to be a difference from player to player because different players have different armor ratings and damage mitigation champion point specifications.

Hmm it was with template chars, so we all had 100 CP in magic damage reduction and almost the same gear. And the differences were huge iirc

That is a much more interesting occurrence than I was thinking. I wonder the orbs effect each player individually or each player as an individual and the boss as well.

One person in my group believes that these damage differences have to do with my armor being broken. I'm not sure how likely this is, but it would make sense and I will keep track of this armor breaking as being a possible reason for the damage differences that I am observing as I continue my testing.
