Incomplete Customization (Dyes)

As we all know, vanity plays a big part in the ESO community. We have multiple equipment styles, multiple applicable dyes, and a myriad of special effects through trophies, emotes, and skills at our disposal. This makes for a diverse social environment, and allows people to bring out their inner hero (or anti-hero). The addition of dyes, in particular, was a wonderful idea and tool for the players.

That being said, I've noticed certain equipment is lacking in complete dye-ability. For instance, the Dunmer high level-style robe has brown leather bands across the midriff area, which absolutely refuse to accept any sort of coloring, whatsoever! (Pictures coming shortly) This can become a real annoyance while attempting to create an individual color scheme, and has me wondering whether this is the only instance.

I would like to propose that all of the equipment styles be gone over, and have the non-customizable components identified and rendered dye-able.
If anybody else would like this change too, please post pictures to help identify the problem areas!

I dyed the set completely white, and completely black to show that it's not the material, it simply is not dying.

EDIT: If this thread picks up steam, I can work on making a compendium of all un-dyable armor motifs (That I currently have in my possession).

@ZOS_GinaBruno I would really appreciate your input!

That's only part of the problem. Another serious issue is that depending on armour weight and level, the colours are different and rarely match the colour picker.

I agree, though I feel that may be a tougher fix. That has more to do with the material being shown, Metal versus Leather, Glass versus Cloth.

Aye, the system could use some fixing.
Maybe in a year or two they'll get around to it :s

Oh, that's a shame. I suppose I don't keep up with ZoS staff ongoings as much as regular forum-goers.

On a side-note, I've identified more examples, such as the fur on various Nord articles of clothing, as well as the bones the Primal designers were so fond of! (Pictures coming soon.)

    Once again, all dyed black.

How is it that this bone ↑ isn't dyable, but this bone ↓ is?

Completely agree! The Dunmer style is one of the coolest in the game, unfortunately due to the horrible way dyes are applied to the armor I never use this style... It's a shame, all other styles have that issue daemonius mentioned with black dyes. They go from dark brown to light brown, to grey to freaking silver. The only style that really displays a nice, true black color is the dunmer style but for some reason it's one of the styles that can't be completely dyed :(

Really hoping Zenimax introduces a style that dyes well with black for once

I am bookmarking this thread and will add pics as well tomorrow. Er...later today. This picture caught my eye though as it displays one of the things that has bugged me forever.

    24y2pue.jpg

Look at how darn BLOTCHY the texture is here! Apparently the intention is to have the look of old, worn or even badly cured leather. And that would be fine for lower level gear where it seems they mean for our characters to look like struggling dirt poor hobos so we'll be encouraged to keep leveling them up just to get gear that doesn't look like it was obtained by dumpster diving or all acquired from the bellies of defeated skeevers.

But no, this godawful look persists in many sets right up through the top tiers. Blows my mind. Higher tier gear made from more expensive and rarer materials should look smooth and as if it is kept in excellent repair. I am So Tired of coming across a style I love only to find it will not take any dye without looking mottled, worn or even just dirty.

I stopped using the Dunmer and Argonian motifs when I realised they couldn't be fully dyed, the colours I wanted to use didn't agree with the brown/orange so I had to make awkward colourschemes I didn't like to make them work. The differences in how the same colour appears on different motifs is really annoying too.
