PS4 NA: There is no Lag Switch Anymore

For those of you that think me and my guild has some magical lag switch that makes 8-12 people someone how break the server, I would like you to take a look around yourself and at your map before you rez or begin your customary tbag, or perhaps just at your group UI. I'm tired of the accusations, not because I actually care what some of you think of me or my guild, but because this unfounded assumption fundamentally impacts the quality of pvp in this game and that causes issues for everyone. Using my magical lag switch as the source of all of your problems is an easy answer that keeps you from answering difficult questions with rather simple answers that could improve almost everyone's pvp experience.

I'm not saying my guild doesn't contribute to lag, everyone contributes to lag and my guild probably does more on a person to person basis because we have way more buffs\debuffs\AoE going out in a coordinated fashion than most other PS4 guilds, but that being about as generous as I can truthfully be when I finish a kill quest of any given class almost every wipe. How someone can believe my guild is solely to blame for lag when they are in guild chat with 60 of their closet friends is beyond me. The more people the more lag. It doesn't matter if you're afking or rping. when you have an absurd amount of people in the same place--or a decent amount in multiple places aka Azura--lag ALWAYS occurs.

Yes sometimes having more numbers and stacking with others is necessary and inevitable (crowning\dethrone keeps), but do you really need group 2's support along with a bunch of pugs to take bleaks\sej\nikel from a bunch of other pugs? Do you really need that 3rd healer in group three for the scroll farm to actually work? Do you think the pugs really need any help when they're already +50 deep pushing a given lane or, more importantly, are you aware of the effect on the server when you add another 24-48 to the equation?

Sometimes having an absurd amount of people at a location happens by accident. You believe +2 full groups are sitting on a location so you take your full group alongside 15-24 others to take it, only to discover they completely abandoned it to port to the other side of the map and save another emp keep. I think most would agree this is understandable to an extent, though I find outnumbered fights much more rewarding\engaging. However this is very different from running a guild that fields two or more groups and knowingly stacks with other guilds\groups on objectives where a 24 man that isn't terribad should would win 99% of the time.
Doing so unnecessarily strains the server and forces the effected alliance to respond in a similar fashion if they want to successfully defend\push objectives, only to send performance further into a tailspin. You may not be talking with them, but its not hard to see them riding towards ash\chal gate or Alessia bridge and figure out where they're going.

Because of these trends combined with the lag the follows, my guild can't justify remaining on Azura's any longer. Fighting at 1:3 or 1:4 odds just isn't viable when you loose half of your group every engagement to crashes or long load screens only to have any advantage you have in coordination or movement completely negated by lag. The AP was nice fighting certain zergbad guilds and nothing was more fun than completely ruining a +50 man scroll farm with 7 people, but other servers simply offer something better, outnumbered and LAG FREE pvp. So now there is no excuse why your guild that loves to set you up with 40-60 of your closest friends lags the next time you storm an inner breach with that other guild running +20 you think is bad trailing in behind you, and I hope you will begin to wonder if maybe YOU might be part of the problem as well and possibly take actions to lessen your impact on the server and (hopefully) positively effect everyone's pvp experience. If not, my guild might just go to the main pvp camp--whatever it is--to reap dividends next patch if the lag is even partially addressed. Though we may still show up at sejanus from time to time this patch...

I don't even know how you're still playing in Azura. Haderus has been competitive, minus the few lag fests the skeleton crew causes. Skull has also been pretty active considering we crown an emperor almost every night and terrorize the blue zerglings on there.

Nah not a hater but after seeing all those familiar faces and getting wiped at nickel by the 60 plus That sieged. There's no reason to stay. The small group play that every one was running and the lack of lack was great for the 2/3 weeks Haderus had been pumping out good content.Last night was Azura with a different name. I know 1 DC guild left because of last night and I know another was contemplating it as well.

I dont avoid you cause I think you lag the server...I avoid you cause your group wipes us everytime we see you and frankly its just not much fun to play against. I have to hand it to you... you have a very good guild with some high level/experienced pvpers. I wish AD had a group like this with some high level players. Good luck bud.

I've been thinking about leaving Azuras myself. The lag makes it a chore when it should be enjoyable. The problem is, I've heard a lot of people talking about leaving Azuras. So, what then? Will Scourge become the new Azuras and we end up going in circles?

Maybe it's just me but I'm seeing more and more people flood into Azuras. I don't recall previous campaigns with so many people running about. Yes, there's always been lag but now it's totally out of control. It's a bit of a joke when I see Shooting Star on my death recap and then I see the meteor hitting my corpse 15 seconds later. Also, the one hour timer makes it so the final 10 minutes are a push for resources. The previous 50 minutes have become trivial.

I remember the good old days of Chillrend. Then they changed it to scroll only :(

A lot of blues actually left campaign last reset. Blue has consistently been the last to lock during prime time for weeks now with yellow coming in a close second behind red. Its another one of the reasons why we left, its hard to justify actually pvping and pushing objectives if you port up to bleakers\ales\chal and wipe 40-60 reds with the support of a couple bowtatos only to see the other side of the map flip yellow or vise versa. Even if we just want to farm or get good fights its still gets annoying after a while. I've noticed quite a few v2 commandos trying to fill the void but the blind leading the blind is hardly an effective alternative to even lesser quality guilds consistently showing up.

As for the leaving part, I've quickly found haderus is not quite the gem I thought it was. I got off pretty early due to connection issues and rage after dropping erroneously so I may not have gotten to see the worst prime time lag, but it didn't seem too bad when 100-130 people were at Alessia. However, the campaign is simply dead during off hours. If I would have had something larger than a six man it would have felt like pvdoor for half the day, which is something I hate just as much as lag. And this was the day following reset, so its only going to get worse. It seems like a decent sanctuary from lag and swarms of zergbads during prime time, but in its current state I wouldn't say its a perfect alternative to Azuras, where the lag only becomes unbearable for me during approx 9pm-1am est.

Lag will always be a problem no matter where you go during high population. The only way to fix the lag(aside from dev patchwork) i think will be to have a campaign or two with a lower pop cap(2 bars) and 12 group limit(maybe even less). Even then there would still be some lag. But not as bad as i experienced in the 10 mins i was in AS today. Would also be neat to have small team objectives apart from keeps and resources that groups could fight over in those campaigns. I know this game is supposed to be about large battles and whatnot but when your game doesnt work because of your large battles...changes need to be made, campaigns need to be varied. People need options. One campaign giving points for resources while another campaign giving points for scrolls isnt what i would consider varied. Im beginning to think zos has no clue what they are doing in regard to pvp.

Hope to see you in Scourge. AD and EP keep taking turns in conquering the entire map. DC only holds 3 keeps at most.

I noticed that too DesertDweller. I was casually browsing the Campaign list to see what the other alliances are doing, and sure enough AD is building a presence on Scourge. Which I think is an excellent idea props for AD on taking that initiative.

However, Scourge desperately needs blues. So I will not set foot on Scourge til there is more balance of red/blue on when yellow is on. Since, I am not a big fan of flipping the map and PvDooring which is what Scourge basically is right now.

I cannot really remember what times I saw the map active. But AD certainly was there in the EST morning/afternoon/evening this past weekend.

@Takes-No-Prisoner You are correct. EP flipped the entire map prior to last weekend and last night. As of today I'm watching AD flip the map and running with 2 scrolls. DC has 2 keeps.
Scourge definitely needs more DC players to balance the game.

All the EP deserters that went elsewhere when AD took over need to come back.

    Azura is overcrowded.

You need not worry for long. The No Champion Points campaign seems to be slated towards Azura's Star. Scourge will surely see traffic from the 501 CP crowd. Surely DC and EP will make a entrance once that drops. :)

Having a No CP campaign will help people not at the cap to learn the mechanics without feeling disheartened by the current Azura's Star. Plus help with lag. Hopefully this will be a win-win for everyone.

Especially if the people planning to part take in the No CP stay there for a while. Earning CP in PvP is extremely slow grind even with dailies.

Please, the only reason it lags is because everyone was hanging out at Sejanus again. Everyone just wanted to see what a double beef patty with bacon strips and cheese looks like with two legs. 1.0

I'm assuming this is your first time playing the first few days of the start of a new campaign

You assume wrong - Last night on the bridge to Alessia, we had 10 EP on him, he wipes us all and takes no damage - finally, 25 yellow comes in, fights for 5 minutes and we think they finally got him. Server was laggy last campaign, but normal. This campaign when he comes in, the whole map of Cyrodiil lags and the closer you get to his group the more laggy it gets - and they are not spamming any AOE because they are holed up in Sejanus or a keep while it is being sieged.

I expect lag, I expect to get kicked and DC'd - its normal when you have 300 people at the same location. I also understand spamming AOE lag.

Yes - people who let them farm you for AP at Sejanus are idiots - however it wasn't just Sejanus that was laggy, it was the whole map.
