We need Day/Night Equilibrium

    Hi.

    This is my first post.

I agree. When I first saw night come up, I got really excited about what new things the night would bring. I was actually scared and being very careful. I soon realized that night = day - lighting. So became ***-hum issue.

I do think this is a cool idea, especially if they add in for werewolves the inability to change out of werewolf form during a double full moon or something similar(as a werewolf player) to accompany that buff, though I imagine people who just went werewolf for the stamina buff would be less than thrilled.

And not to forget vampires, give them a damage buff to class and vampire skills during a double new moon.

I LOVE the idea of a period in which vamps have the upper hand and a period in which wolves do.

Once again Vamps wanting to get something for nothing. If they did this then there would have to be an EQUALLY long period of time where your vamp/WW was as weak as they were previously strong.

And I'm all for more night. In fact I have very fond memories of DAoC which had VERY dark nights and wish ESO's nights were a bit darker.

This suggestion is about equality. There should be a period when vamps have the advantage and a period when wolves have the advantage. Both should be disadvantaged during the day.

They need to fix that rain ;___; too much rain... (I have the winter blues)

it would be neat to see a more advanced weather system in general. Snow, makes your stamina drop faster when you run (plus icy areas you slide a little why moving on them depending on rate of speed), rain makes your character "cold" so you lose health regen, and wind which will affect your targeting abilities, maybe it could make your cross hairs move slowly one way or the other on a windy day. Just little things i enjoy seeing in games. Maybe this isnt the game for those things since it is a MMO but it would still be neat to at least have snowy days as well as rainy days.

I remember playing in a zone in EQ,where at night time it was a lot more dangerous than during the day.would be a cool element to add

I would just like to see the Vamps health regeneration go up during night time. I never understood why it was so poor in the first place when Vampires are supposed to heal fast. But if they changed it to healing slow during day, and fast a night it would make sense to me. Since vampires are technically weakened by sunlight.

The vampires in ESO are infected with a different version of the disease. They don't get weaker in the day, they grow stronger at night. There's even a book you find in game that says this.

I am a night-owl myself and would love to see more nighttime hours, either equal night and day or the variable night and day idea sound good to me.

I like the idea of some ‘immersive’ changes to night time, although I’m not sure I would want it to become a great deal more dangerous, given that I’d like to be able to enjoy my nighttime strolls. :) Also a problem with drastic changes to things would be that given some people’s real life schedules they may find themselves only playing at night and if it’s considerably harder that could be annoying for some. The variable night along with this could help with that though.

I think it could be a fun tie-in with theives guild stuff to have sneaking advantages at night or jobs that need to be completed at night.

Agreed. I want to see more Night time than day. If there was an option, I'd probably make it night permanently but yeah I think your idea would work fine.

I would absolutely love it if ESO had these sorts of things. Then we could have racial bonuses for weather types.

Pretty much, although there seems to be a little creep in the timing.

However, it makes getting that one fish in Wrothgar a bit of a pain as it's best chance of being caught only occurs in the evenings (well, sunset)

So we're permanently stuck at the summer solstice @Bossdonut ? That seems... problematic.

Because we are on Lyg! That's why!! But seriously, in my suggestion I actually mention the solstices, both winter and summer, which would be better than we have now. That way, players who prefer night get their time to shine... or their time to hide, so to speak.

I just wish night time was actually dark.

Well, I tend to farm raw materials at night time, because there are not that many people around, when it is darker. Now if it would be even more dark, I guess then a lot would just logout and wait for the day - not many like to play at night time and especially not if nothing is to see. You are serious you want actually dark night?- oh my, you have no idea what a real night looks like, when you are not in europe or north america - when you can actually see the magnificent light show in the sky, which is the galaxy in which we are living - otherwise it is pitch black, you cannot even see your hand if you stretch out your arm. I like such nights in RL, but I do not want those in game, because you can see like nothing in a pitch black realistic night.

I really enjoy playing at night, I’m a night person myself and don’t like the bright light of day. However, I agree that I would not want the ESO nights to be much darker, a little darker would be okay (because sometimes it doesn’t really even feel like night, maybe twilight), but not to the point that there’s nothing to see and you’re blundering around (like some of those realistic lighting mods for skyrim). ESO would need to provide players with torches and light spells if they made the nights much darker. And significantly change sneak-ability and NPC detection to match the lack of visibility.

And there could be additional gameplay opportunities at night that are not available during the day. Like night-burglaring where the NPCs are asleep in their homes. Nightwatchmen jobs where players can skulk around towns to arrest NPC burglars. NPC escort missions from town to town. Special NPCs and enemies that only come out at night. Crafting Materials only available at night. Certain fish that are only available at night... Night could offer a different set of opportunities for players.

Check out my Immersive Darkness concept @Aelthwyn (http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/170536/immersive-darkness-concept/p2) it address some of the darkness "issues" that some of us perceive.

I do not play cats....even if they had night eye.

What I am saying is being sight impaired it can be a strain to have it be overly dark especially for long periods of time like you have been suggesting. I get it you enjoy the night and the darkness and perhaps the rp of it all.

I am suggesting that your ideas may make it more difficult to play the game for some. Specifically me in this instance but I am certainly not the only one. If it causes a great deal of discomfort then it would certainly make it easier to do something other then play a game that I have enjoyed.

Solutions are to not do as you suggest or to make it so that the lighting can be adjusted for those that would be adversely affected by your ideas.

I have eight toons none are cats. No I do not have a prejudice against them as much as I rather enjoy my choices (have 6 Bretons one high elf and one nord....none have any sort of night vision.)

if you have ever used a torch in real life, you will know, that it does not help you much with seeing in the dark - at least not in any distance worth mentioning. The flame is that bright, that you are blinded by it. A torch makes sense in a location, where light can be reflected by walls and ceilings and so - but in the open wild it is pretty useless.
