ZOS, PLEASE TRASH CP CAP

Hey, I have a great idea. Let's keep the VR system, and just cap everyone at VR1. Who cares if people are VR2 to 16? Let them sit at VR1 like everyone else -- forever. That way game is "fair" for everyone who just started two hours ago.

You forgot to mention the catch up mechanic for when people start at level 1. People need to be level 10 before they get their 1st choice of weapon otherwise they'd be so underpowered they won't survive in PvP.

I find it amazing that the same company that claims it wants a level playing field for those who play two years and those who play 2 hours and thus imposes a CP cap, then takes the best weapons in the game and hides them behind a wall where only the elite players can get them.

Just no. I think some players forget (or don't know) how powerful being at the CP cap was when they let us test in way back when. You could solo not only PvP content but PvE content, it was a joke.

Also you realize some players have so many CP's that they won't have to worry about not being at cap for probably a year or two?

I remember that very well , having max CP made things very easy , but I also called the CP system a Leveling system not an alternate advancement system which is why they are having so many issues with how it is perceived versus how it was and is presented .

CP system was/is presented as an alternate advancement system , but because it provides direct power increases to players for each point spent in the warrior/mage/thief more and more players are treating it as a leveling system , that results in it being perceived as a leveling system . Any leveling system that prevents you from reaching its level cap can be discouraging to players when they are told you can max the system out .

the fact that some players have well over the current CP cap was predicted before the system even went live , I had even said that I would not be surprised if some players reached max or close to max CP before it was a year old , the only reason that might not be happen is that ZOS put in the cap before these players could reach 3000 plus CP but those same players will be at max CP long before the cap to use them is removed.

The CP cap was implemented to level the PVP playing field and to curb power creep in PVE in both respects I feel like it is working. I can understand the frustration of those who have hit the cap wall and feel like they have nothing else to do but there is always more then just lvl grinding in MMO'S, maybe try some achievement hunting or something.

ZOS, the CP cap was instituted to try and level out the pvp field due to people not wanting to pvp against people with a lot of CP. However, the cap crippled the fun progress of making our toons better for many of us. Now, for whatever reason, you seem to be delaying CP cap-raising. There is no need for this. Now that you will be instituting cp-free Cyrodil zones, there is no reason for a cap at all. Those who want to fight cp-free can do so. Please let the rest of us level again. Those who have stuck with you the longest are the most punished by your current policy.

I must confess that I was disappointed that there will be no cap increase with this update, but the time for a removal of the cap is still a ways off. If what ZOS says can be trusted, the current PTS content is intended for players with 300 CP.... We aren't ready for the 1500+ CP monsters yet.

I disagree but the cap should be raised after each dlc by by at least 200 cp. 50 cp is nothing.

I already have the Master Angler achievement, though. I think that's literally the only achievement that doesn't involve earning XP (if you don't count killing mobs near the fishing spots)

Again, I'm fine with a cap, but can we at least just keep earning CP at the regular XP curve if we are above the cap rather than have it cost more than a vet level does now?

Hard to argue with this logic. Why do we need a cap when PvPers will be able to play without CP at all?

It really pisses me off to hear PvPers complaining that the new Assault rank math somehow "devalues" their achievement, when MY progression has been GIMPED at 501 CP because of all their whining!

The cap was placed for pves. You know zos gives two fs less about pvprs want.

They did it for the trial runners.

Keep in mind, as there will be no more veteran rank - your character "level" will be your champion rank, and gear levels will be tied to your CP as well.

50 CP per quarter is 200 CP per year, equivalent to ~50m - 100m XP, depending on how close you are to the cap. Even if you only grind while enlightened, it will still require around 12.5m - 25m XP. This seems reasonable, plenty XP to earn over the course of a year, much more than we needed to earn previously.

It would be a boring proposition if we needed to grind this massive amount of XP every quarter to keep up with the max level. Why does it seem some folks want everyone to spend even more time grinding than we already spend? Wouldn't you rather spend that time actually playing the game, whether this means PVP or end game PVE in your case?

Previously the level cap was raised only 2 levels each year. V12 - V14 required 2m XP, and V14 to V16 only required 1.7 million XP.

after you get all levels & max cp , game kinda becomes 100% boring due you cant get stronger..

i guess the whole cp cap is just due to pvp guys getting angry about "unbalance" with old & new players.

Your champion rank is your level, or will be soon. Would you rather have there be no practical level cap in the game, just keep grinding for 10 years to reach 3600 CP?

For me when I get to max level, that's when I feel I can finally start "playing the game" instead of grinding: trying various builds, buying endgame gear and practicing in PVP to improve my skills at playing the build, etc.

that would be due to there not being any VR ranks above VR16 that players where told they could reach and then had a cap placed on their progression at a point below that .

I don't get... they say "remove vet ranks, they are just a grind", then they say "Remove CP cap, i want to grind more"

Veteran ranks are needed to wear specific gears. Champion points are overall stats. I have said before that they could change CP to something useless that wont affect pvp or leaderboards, but still will be fun to gain.
But the reason for champion points in the first place, was so the player could feel constant progression while playing. I dont feel that at all now.

This is merely chasing around the problem. The real problem is not that people have too much CP, Gold, AP, etc. It is the disparity in the amount of time people can play.

We time time caps. A cap on both total time in the game and daily time in the game. A real rested bonus. Each DLC can increment the amount of time people can play.

Yeah, could be some sarcasm in that suggestion.

Champion system needs caps, but only because they designed the system wrong. Any system that is designed for an MMO needs to be designed thinking far down the road to when people are spread out across the entire range of the system and any population scale is top heavy. If the system still seems reasonable at that time, good. If it is determined that it can be fixed when the game gets there, bad.

as long as people keep the conversation civil and reasonably constructive , ZOS won't close the thread . They generally only close threads that violate the TOS or code of conduct for the forums .
