Troubleshooting unequal character level gain

Greetings,
My girlfriend and I started playing ESO about a month ago. She has the Imperial and I have the normal edition. Both copies are for the PC without a physical CD. We have no DLCs yet and the only purchases from the crown store were a dog for each of us. We play ONLY together. She is a nightblade dps/tank and I am a sorc healer. However, from the beginning we started noticing that my character leveled up faster. Every ~8 levels my character would be 1 level ahead. It has been 3 times now that she played alone just to catch up. What might be causing this unequal level gain?
- We are always in the same place, killing the same mobs together. She deals and takes damage and I heal her.
- We always do the exact same quests
- We both have rings of Mara equiped
- None of us is an ESO Plus subscriber
- No one has bought/used experience scrolls/potions
Thank you in advance,
Jordan

    Sunburnt has the right idea.

If you're doing heals and she isn't, you're getting exp for it.

If you mouse over the exp bar in the top left, you'll see your exact amount of exp points, and what you need for the next level. Try comparing your exp start/end values after a mob fight with hers. You'll probably see a difference if you were doing heals.

Healing is a area of effect, you get exp for any friendly char it touches (I think including NPCs), even if they're not in your group. Battle experience though, IS based on group. If you fight/kill a mob, and there are other players doing the same (not in your group), both groups get diff amounts of exp based on their overall battle participation/damage.

As far as I'm aware, being in a two-person group (as you two will be) grants 10% extra XP but you don't get any extra XP from people that you're just fighting alongside. So the only thing I can possibly think of (I've no idea if this is a thing) is that you're getting slightly more XP from area-healing non-grouped players

If I don't get any XP from fighting with people outside the group, how come I get XP from healing them?

Thank you very much. Although no solution was found, the root of the problem became clear. I will not hurry to mark this as solved, maybe there is more to discuss on the topic
