Simple solution for PvEing in Cyrodiil

What if we improve the TS's idea? For example - there will be a toogled option "White Flag"(available only in your home base). The player with this buff\aura\nvm gives no AP on kill, BUT he can't attack any enemy player aswell.
The effect of the white flag should be pretty noticeable so others players can recognize it.
Also you cannot complete nor scout\capture quests (only pve) neither capture forts etc. Maybe you cannot even enter IC.
    Smth like that.

There should still be severe chat limitations in place to discourage spying, which is becoming really easy this way. The toggle also should prevent users from using siege and should only be toggleable in the home base, so people don't use it to maneouvre around the map. There's probably some stuff I'm missing in abusability, but hey.

Then there's the issue that Cyrodiil for balance and performance reasons has a population cap. Being the only PvP map in the game (apart from the DLC map IC), an influx of PvE players who won't participate in PvP will be possibly very detrimental to the PvP experience, might lead to queues etc. That's an issue that I have no solution for, apart from another version of Cyrodiil, which is supposedly very hard to develop (ESO Live December 2015), counters lore (Cyrodiil is a war-zone) and would frankly be quite boring: the PvE content of Cyrodiil is meager and rather dull and there's not much of it.

As long time players of the game in PvP everyone knows the signals for 'I don't want to Battle, I want to quest' and/or 'I want to Duel'. Some will respect these signals and let you pass, others will not. There are even those who will let you pass, and then gank your ass off your horse and then teabag you.

It is the risk of the game.

If you want to talk about a real issue that gets my blood boiling when it comes to PvP and PvE together, it's players who log alts, or friends in places like Cracked Wood, so they can spy on others entering these places, so they can be ganked. Wether they are there to PvE or otherwise. That's annoying right there.

But beyond that it's a thrill to me. Running around the outskirts of Cyrodiil and running into an enemy is fun, and makes the PvP/PvE so much more exciting, and people who don't want to PvP but want to complete all PvE are going to have to accept that they are going to get into battles, and they are going to have to face them.

Not sure it's that big of an issue. Watch the map to avoid battles or potential battles. Typically the players that troll the PvE quests aren't very good, so just smack them and move on. On the off chance they are better than you go to different city.

Yes it's silly to have PvE in a PvP area. Sure it would be cool if there was a way for both to do what they like in the same area. No it's not ever going to happen. It's a major rewrite for old published content that will not have a big draw.

Am I to naive thinking people would respect something like this?

Yes... I don't take time to check out what someone is wearing before engaging in combat.

I basically live by these rules:

If my alliance controls most of the board, I will kill anyone I see.

If another alliance controls the board, I sneak around and avoid all combat if possible.

It's as simple as that. I feel if people want access to questing centers like Bruma, they need to fight for it.

This! If people want the easy XP that comes from those repeatable quests they have to take a chance and hope they don't get ganked. Otherwise, stay out of Cyrodil.

Yeah, that's essentially how my suggestion works too. @Dorrow If they cannot attack enemy players, can they still be attacked by enemy players?

@petraeus1 On the lines of spying and queues, people with this toggle set "on" would use a different zone chat, and be counted under a separate pop cap. Non-access to any of the PvP items, quests and objectives would be a given, and your white flag would be temporarily nullified if you entered the grounds of a keep.

Sure, i didn't think it had to be mentioned. But i am not sure if the flagged player can egnage in battle or not.

I don't kill people who are questing because I want to get AP.
I don't gank people while they chat with NPCs because i want to mock them.
I murder people who don't stand a chance of fighting back purely because i enjoy it.

I'd still kill you even if i had to Pay AP. My entertainment is worth it.
Thank you for contributing to this thread and providing a shining example of the types of players that I was referring to.

I would say that they couldn't initiate combat against enemy players, but they would be able to defend themselves if attacked.
