[Zenimax] Please consider giving us an armor (crafting) preview

So I just crafted a set of level 44 medium Imperial armor (all except the helmet which I could see was not my taste). When I put it on, I was - honesty - shocked. Someone at the crafting station with me whispered: "That has to be ugliest armor I've ever seen in this game."

It looks okay in the tiny icon (of course) but when I put it on my Imperial character, I looked like the court jester. And it's not just a matter of changing colors; there's this (metal) accenting on the armor that literally won't take a dye. Egggh. It's just awful. And yes, I know about ESO Fashion, but many of the styles on that website are out of date. Also, your mileage may vary depending upon your characters shape and appearance.

Even if it's just a web-based app that allows us to sign in, load an existing character, and the try out certain types of armor before we waste precious resources crafting it. I cannot imagine any game-based reason for not making this part of the original game.

Thanks for considering it. I'm off to craft a new set of armor.

I feel your pain, I make a low lvl "burner" set / piece to try on now before I make my final "permanent" set or what have you. Ya its a pain but better then wasting 140 rub ore on a piece i wont like.

Did you bother to read my post at all? ESO Fashion is not up to date. The site clearly says this.

    "Site Info

ZOS has changed the look and colors of the armor multiple times, so the images on ESO Fashion may not be exactly what they currently look like in-game. Please see the "Patch X.X info" to determine how current they are."

And that's what I'd done. I'd used an lower level Imperial medium set that was acceptable. But at level 44, it's looks a lot different. And not in a good way.

An armor preview would be great.

Would save me lots of time experimenting, especially as not every piece of armor looks good on every character.

No problem. The other issue is they don't have all the armors. The crafted armors change in appearance (color mostly) as you increase the level - but you can't see that when you craft them.

The thumbnail in the crafting menu is pretty terrible. I've crafted pretty much everything in the game so far so I sort of remember what things look like. ESO fashion does get updated every so often, but it'd be much easier to see a preview in-game without having to make a less expensive version with cheaper mats.

Best part about this is that the Crown Store has a preview mechanic but basic crafting doesn't; gotta love marketing.

That's right!! I completely forgot about that (mostly because I don't want to spend my hard-earned money on costumes ...).

So they could implement this using the same functionality. [And before anyone responds, note that I didn't say "easily", I just said it could be done.]

ESO Fashion is also often extremely unflattering. Straight-on shots of characters with unknown body sizes can make some styles look terrible. Take a look at fatso over here and tell me whether or not it makes you confident enough to drop hundreds of thousands of gold on crafting a set of gear with this motif.

There definitely are more important things they could work on, but this is definitely more important than some of the things that they are currently working on.

I'd rather have more foundational MMO systems in place than the ability to sneak around and steal sweetrolls.

And while your in there the ability to re-craft found sets to style them how you want to look.

In other words, Briar heart looks like a@@, I would like to be able to re-style it as part if my crafting skill point allotment.

Hold out the iconic pieces or sets if you want but I want to be able to make my armor look cool.

Every quality of life problem is a non issue in the game. If devs only did stuff that was 100% necessary this game would have failed.

I really cannot believe they don't have any kind of preview, it seems like it ought to be standard. And those little icons sometimes don't even look close to what the real thing looks like. It is exceedingly frustrating at high levels or with rare motifs to have to waste materials experimenting to see what actually looks good on your character!

ESO fahsion.com is certainly helpful, but it's really not enough, because you can't tell what it will look like on Your charcter's body proportions, and they aren't always up to date.

Vr16 equipment is a bit different since ESO Fashion does have a decent amount of images posted for end game armor and weapons. Be sure you check there if you're worried about style when crafting a 150 mat item.

@IrishGirlGamer, are you on on PC and have PTS? If you log in to PTS it only takes maybe 15 minutes to gather mats and craft level 44 equipment. Maybe keep that in mind when you start the next (vr1 or whatever) full set. That way, you're not using any mats on live ... but can still see the end product.

I agree with your core point, however. There should be an armor preview (similar to Skyrim) where you can just wheel the mouse to enlarge a previewed version of the armor piece in the crafting window. ZOS please take note ...

I posted this last May already (forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/172054/preview-armor-at-the-crafting-tables/p1, seems people liked the idea, but ZOS still didn't do or say anything about it.
eso-fashion.com is an awesome page and I always check before I craft a new style, but I still need to see that IN-GAME.
