YES I WANT TO BE ABLE TO EARN MOUNTS

Yes, I think the point some of the no players are missing is the OP doesnt ask for the crown store mounts to be available in game, but that there are some other mounts to earn, they will still make crowns off the shop bought ones.

This has been done in other games, & its been fun earning those mounts, also gives motivation to do stuff you wouldnt normally do, or makes you more determined to say complete all the challenges in a trial for example.

Why are we doing this? Because its too hard to buy the horse?

If you want a mount as a swag reward, realize that others will rush to complete it and detract from its uniqueness.

I think if we do have a mount reward it should be for a hard challenge, like getting emperor or top of the trial leaderboards, and it will probably be tied to a DLC, so your still pay money in some way.

Adding earn-able mounts won't even cause a scratch. Look at WoW, they've been adding earn-able mounts in-game ever since, and they're like.. the richest gaming company on the planet. (Blizzard/Activision, etc.)

The mount is one of the few things that is not a buy to win item. Id rather see them in the store than other buy to win items.

And I don't like the current amount of grinding already....you just want to add more grinding to the game...I say no to grinding.

And it is an achievement to buy a mount - you keep the ESO world rolling....it is cooler than defeating Molag Bal or killing 10000 daedras or whatever achievement you are after.

While I agree that ZOS needs to make money, I think that they can pick from the common mounts (guar, camel, senche, bear) and make a base model available for gold purchase in the game while the Crown Store specializes in recolors of those mounts.

Recolors of common mounts and special mounts, like the elemental mounts, skeletal mounts, and other creatures that are not common mounts can be the domain Crown Store.

Mounts that are available as part of DLC for gold or as a reward (DLC related achievement) are another idea, one that could help sell a weak or slim DLC. Sell the 1000 Crown DLC for 2500 Crowns and have it include the 2000 Crown mount as an optional bundle.

I have to think that ZOS can successfully monetize mounts without having every new mount be a Crown Store item. Still, as long as people are willing to drop 3000 Crowns on DLC and are happy to spend additional thousands on mounts, there is no reason for them to even consider any other course of action. Especially not when they have the justification that the ESO Plus members need some place to sink Crowns.

On the subject of Pets... Those can be all Crown Store, as long as all they do is chase butterflies and make farting sounds.

I want an "Other" option. You can sort of earn mounts atm. Make hard-earned gold through questing, then buy 1 of 4 mounts.

Mounts cost around the same price as real DLC. It allows ZOS to make a ton of money through strictly cosmetic items. Also, I like having unique mounts that no one else has (limited time offers). Seriously these mounts on the Crown Store rake in enormous amounts of cash which is good.

HOWEVER, a mount or two should definitely be made available to those who complete the very hardest content possible. Completing VMA, or even for completing a flawless run of it. Maybe for beating the new trial with a fast time (ahem...camel). Mounts that are tough to get. Necrotic Haorver is a good example.

I voted yes because it would be nice to see this, but I doubt it will happen. ZOS has already gone the direction of selling them only in the Crown Store. Any that are in game was before the change to B2P.

Also, let's add in the thought/idea that it would be better to have original items in the Crown Store instead of re-skins and repeats of what is already in the game. If you are going to charge such outrageous prices on many of the items at least make them originals (bad i.e. - Vamp/WW infection, many many re-skins of the same mount, etc)!

After they have been in the store and sales are pretty much dried up, why not, some new quest lines or maybe a chance for one to drop, there are several ways they could do it. I like any chance to play new content for new things is always cool.

Ssshhh. He doesnt have one. Its all smoke that hes hoping youll buy into.

Honestly I would not be surprised if ZOS is still paying off the investment to this game.

Blizzard can give away mounts because that is not where they get their earnings from.
Their game is subscription based.

I see he never replied with any numbers and a source. Watch! I can do the same thing!

You do realize that they don't make any money off this game. They barely make enough from sales of this game to stay afloat. That's why they need to sell stuff in the Crown Store. I mean, I don't need to back it up with numbers or anything, but it's a fact that they lose money on selling the game itself. Trust me.

Turn Leaderboards into Bragging Right thing. Introduce Leaderboard Points, what are gained from Leaderboards. Maybe even introduce new gear upgrade called Elite, after Legendary. Elite Tannings are BoP and are from Leaderboards, but mostly Leaderboards should offer only cosmetic items, like Titles, Mounts, Costumes, and Crafting Styles.

I really like the idea of having a few mounts that you earn through quests or achievements, I think it makes a lot of sense.

People like symbols of their dedication/skill/achievements and while the dyes look nice and all, few of them are truly identifiable at a glance, whereas when you see someone with one of the earned pets or costumes you know what they've done.

So long as the earned mounts are unique from the ones in the store and are associated with higher level achievements/quests, I don't imagine they would dampen sales too much because buyable mounts you can get right away and it's nice to have the many different options for appearance - some people will prefer one from the store over the earned version. It would just be nice to have the option of some that can be earned and show what you've done (other than just that you spent money).

Why? So you can feel special that you logged in that weekend? I can understand people not wanting them to sell special rewards that signify something, (like if they did have earnable mounts they probably shouldn't have them in the store too, for multiple reasons) but I don't see the point of making people who Would Have Bought it if they could have disappointed that they missed the chance because they were out of town and couldn't log in, or had important real-life stuff going on and didn't have the time, or were really sick, or hadn't even bought the game yet, or perhaps hadn't yet created the character that would like that mount that was out several months back. If people would definitely buy it the next time it became available, then why would they not bring it back?

I know this is not a compare to WOW thing, but they had several mounts that where earned through running 5 mans and some where gathering faction points. This was always something fun to do.

This would not take away from the cash shop at all. These mounts would be exclusive to the grind of faction or dungeon runs.
