What this means is that once you reach Veteran Rank, you can go into either Silver or Gold without having finished the main quest yet. If you complete the main quest prior to VR1, you can still go into Silver and Gold, too.

Sounds great so if i wanted to make a new character i don't have do my alliance quest (cold harbour) and then do silver/gold in order to unlock area's to grind at later levels?

Also any ETA removing vet ranks because i have quite a few vet 1's here and i'm wondering if it's worth leveling them.

Are we keeping our current cp when gear progression turns to cp? Or are we receiving cp based on how many characters at vet ranks we have, for example i know it's 10 per vet level now but if i have 3 vet 16's am i still going to only be 160 cp?

Matt said on the last ESO Live that vet removal is coming in Q2 with Dark Brotherhood.
    Hope that helps :)

ETA on VR removal is somewhere between April and June (Q2) this year with Dark Brotherhood release.

The current thinking from ZOS is that each VR on your highest VR character will be converted to CP at the rate of 2.5 CP per VR. This means if you have a VR16 you will be given 40 CP at conversion. Only one character counts for this purpose.

    Uh oh...what is this:
"- Hours of exciting new story content and quests that will take you through all your favorite areas of Tamriel"

Whats wrong with the Hew's Bane new zone area?

My guess is that there will be quests, maybe even dailies, that you travel to other zones to complete.

I'm interested in how this will be introduced in-game. If you haven't completed the main quest, you won't be introduced to Meridia's alternate timeline setup, and yet it wouldn't make sense to just waltz in to enemy territory as the champion of your alliance and start becoming the champion of that alliance too.

    Eh... It still doesn't :
    • Allow cross faction simul-play through ALL zones
    • Scale my character back to older zones
This is just because there will no longer be "vet" ranks so all zones will likely scale to the same level. Still, It's a step in the right direction.
Indeed. Baby steps are better than no steps at all ;)

What about "veteran" version of own alliance? Or it will not actual when VR will eliminate? In the current situation I often want to play in my original alliance zones but it are too weak for me. Please, ZOS, give us special options to make all alliances "veteran" for one character or make GW2 equivalent their autoleveling system. Thanks.

    Theres a problem with that.
So you have a crafting ALT who makes gear for everyone else.
You may want that crafter to go scavenging low level areas to make gear for your alts as its the only place they can be found.
If that area becomes scaled to you...and one assumes all the MATs too....how are you going to get low level mats for your low level alts or even for resale ?

The only way around this is to create level neutral materials for crafting that can only be found in specific areas.
The use of crafting styles does make this achievable I guess.
BUt that kind of kills off the 1-50 levelling experience.

If it goes along the route of downscaling, that wouldn't be an issue, as you are scaling down to zone level and the mats will stay the same. If it goes along the route of a "Veteran version" of your own alliance, then in my proposal, that's done with a toggle. In the Veteran version you'd probably see scaled or top-tier nodes, but you could also enter the Normal 1-50 version just as you do now to get the lower level mats.
