All I need to do is look at the player and their rotation and see if they are good/mediocre.Elitist jerks will be jerks whether a public dps meter exists or not.
With a public dps meter available, they will quickly identify the weak link and kick him quickly with minimal fuss and easy justification. Without a dps meter they will get frustrated and rage at the noobie after discovering the weak link later in the dungeon run, and then kick him.
Most elite players already use personal dps meters and can easily tell if somebody in the team is not pulling their weight. With a public dps meter aspirational players will be able to see how their performance compares with others and seek to improve. And nice elite players who don't kick/abuse noobies now will also not kick/abuse noobies once they can see their dps numbers. They already know.
If anything better information will mostly shut up the mediocre players who think they are good and blame everyone else for their group's difficulties.
There's always a dipstick who thinks he knows my character better than i do and can't think beyond the one rotation he's memorized.
I am displeased with the decision to patch out the group damage identification property. As someone that's played only a few classes in this game to end game, I was hoping this add-on would persist to help me tune my builds. However a DSP meter alone can't do this. The only way you know if you're doing well is to see how you measure up with respect to others. This tool gives context to the total contribution you are making, and not just how bursty you were in the execute phase. In most settings having this into can help open a dialog between you and others who are doing better than you.
We as strong players appreciate tools like this as they give us feedback so that we can accurately evaluate our builds and improve our performance.

It's not hard to distinguish good and mediocre players
GroupDamage is more so to improve and be competitive rather than elitist and kicking people from group, you shouldn't need an addon to know that
