Lousy tanks and DDs who queue as a tank are problems, but tanks are also being told repeatedly now they are supposed to be doing damage as well. It sends mixed signals to new players.
Tanks dont need to do damage, only imbiciles who need to L2P think that. If there was still stam regen when blocking fair enough. add to the damage. but as it is, a tank only needs to tank. And if you are failing its because your DPS is poor.
Tank is already debuffing resistances to boost DPS, inflicting major defile if appropriate so the burn required is less, probably pumping out a warhorn every time its up giving you 30% more crit damage, and as a DK I can use engulfing flames on a back bar so your shooting star hits 10% harder (not to mention inferno destro staff weaving force pulse till the sorc procs a frag ). and if it wasnt broken you stamina users would gain 5% weapon damage from minor brutality buff.
If you still are struggling to DPS....the problem isnt the tank.
I totally agree. But I still keep hearing how tanks are supposed to do some damage... as if debuffing the boss, buffing the players, picking up synergies and self-healing to free up healer resources isn't contributing to damage.
My point was not to agree tanks should do damage, but to suggest that a lot of newer players that are learning to tank might be aiming for the wrong goal posts.

No respectable DPS should need the tank to help out with damage.willymchilybily wrote: »Kevmeister wrote: »

The worst thing as healer is the tank thinking he can face tank everything while not moving and expect the healer to waste all their magicka in the first 30 seconds because the tank won't move out of the big aoe fire....even in a ball of fire....
This is what tanks do in ESO....
I WAS BORN IN FIRE!11!1!

When you are already comfortably tanking, why can't you put some pts into stamina and contribute.
You can only 'tank' so much, but some dungeons (flesh atronach for example) require heavy dps and some skills like POTL dps skills are based on team damage rather than your own stamina. Tanks shouldn't just sit there and tank, and new players who are capable and comfortable should try to do more than just tank and soak damage like a sponge.
Players need to find ways to improve and adapt, not play as a one-trick pony. Otherwise we'll get more complains about nerfing dungeons again.
