Veteran ranks & levelling tips

Hi guys,

I'm currently a V1 and returning to the game after not playing since late June/Early July.

What's the generally expected path to take to level up from V1 to V16? or what are some important steps along the way, and also things I need to understand as far as character build for PvE?

I remember trying a veteran dungeon the last time I played, but I don't think it went too well.

My character is a High Elf Sorc, so when I run PvE what should be my purpose in there? a Pure DPS? Or some kind of DPS/CC utility? or healer? or can any of those be viable.

I want to get back into the game but I really don't know which direction to go in to get to V16, I don't really want to just grind mobs , I'd rather play the content in the game, and I know I still need to get Skyshards and lore books, and probably do the EP & DC quests.

    Hi and welcome back.

First problem of veteran ranks (and why they are getting removed):
    1. Leveling past lvl 50 is tedious work without a real content where you can gain experience.
If you have finished the main storyline in Coldharbour, then you will be given an opportunity to visit the other faction zones where you can do quests other players do in their factions (minus the fighter/mages guild and main story quests).
The problem is that it takes a lot more experience to get from v1 to v2 than it took you to get from lvl49 to lvl 50.
Some people get discouraged by such slow leveling. But this is pretty much the only content the game directs you into. You could also go to Wrothgar if you bought Orsinium and level there, since it is a battle leveled zone (meaning you will always be strong enough to fight there.

The other thing you can do is do anything you would if you were v16 (max Veteran Rank).
People play PvP in Cyrodill, do daily dungeon pledges (normal and veteran dungeons) etc.
The only "problem" from doing end game content while v1 is that you will get v1 gear, which you will soon outgrow. Meaning you will have to farm that gear all over again once you get to v16.

So there are two solutions to this situation:
    1. grind exp until you are v16
People usually do the main story quest, get access to the first Cadwell zone (silver), do quests there to gain access to the second Cadwell zone (gold) and just kill zombies 24/7 until they are v16.
    2. play in battle leveled zones (scaled) only
All DLCs (IC and Orsinium) plus Cyrodill are scaled zones. If you like PvP you can play your heart out in Cyrodill without the need to ever level (provided you get good v1 gear). Wrothgar also has some nice activity going on with the daily boss quests.
But if you plan on staying v1 for a longer time, you should really get some good gear. Ask a friend or your guild if someone can craft you a set and make it Epic quality.

    Thanks.

Right now I don't have any one to play with on ESO, but it never really bothered me because the PvP can be so fun.

The only reason I want to get upto V16 is for the highest tier gear and having a fully levelled character, I'd be relatively content just chilling in PvP all day. There's still nothing like pouring fiery oil on people trying to attack a castle, or that moment when the big army of attackers pulls out 50 trebuchets and starts throwing hundreds of rocks a castle walls, makes me laugh every time.

When you said killing zombies, is that the specific name of the enemy in a certain zone? I suppose I need to do the EP questline then to unlock the DC zone.

How important is it to go and get all the skyshards really? just better for acquiring as many passive abilities as possible? and what about lore books? Does the Ultimate (Is it meteor) really matter?

Where do I go to "grind zombies" , Is that the specific name of the enemies? and is it just like farming mobs?

I've got ESO + and the exp scrolls, but not the mara ring, would that also help?

Skyshards are not at all that important if you have all your skills unlocked that you use for your build.
However, people that want to craft or steal or do any kind of extra activity really do need as much skill points as they can lay their hands on.
Although skyshards provide a nice amount of skill points, there are 3 skill points in each zone obtainable through quests. Also one skill point in each Public dungeon. That is 20 skill points in total in each faction, and that is not including skyshards.

Lorebooks however are important IMHO, as you cannot get Meteor in any other way. And it is truly a great ultimate.

How long does it take to find all those lorebooks roughly?

I suppose the best thing to do is join a big guild first so I have people to actually run with.

Maybe a couple hours, but you need to have the second faction unlocked. Get the lorebook addon. As for leveling, I prefer questing, but that's all a matter of preference. Make sure you do the pledges everyday as well.

I'm on PS4, so no add ons for me,.

Pledges? Are those the undaunted faction daily dungeons outside that big tree place?

Ah, that really sucks. Probably some site had the list. And yes. Gives you a keythat grants you a chance of endgame gear that you can wait to use until you're v 16.

    No grinding needed.

    Orsinium Story Quest Line
6 World Boss Dailies In Orsinium / Wrothgar / Can open containers at VR16.
1 Delve Daily In Orsinium / Wrothgar
    VetMSA

Also if you must grind there are some very good farming spots in Wrothgar, not just for exp but for you have the added bonus of getting loads of gold, VR16 leather mats and loads of stuff to sell/decon. You can grind a whole VR level in wrothgar and make a ton of gold very easily.

1 Silver Undaunted Dungeon daily / save all keys for VR16 rewards, do not use until max level.
    1 Gold Undaunted Dungeon daily

    IC Dailies / Quests
Cyrodiil Dailies, join zerg and done

Speed rush cadwells silver/gold, this also will give you access to every skyshard and skillpoint quest in the game which is a huge advantage.

Craglorn quests / group stuff / dailies
    Trials / Vetdsa
    Weekly stuff.

Repeat and rinse everyday, more than one vet rank per day especially with exp boosts. Personally I hate grinding because it actually gives you LEAST amount of rewards for your time, better to spread things all over and do different things, not only do you get more rewards for when your max level but you also don't get bored out of your skull grinding...

Thanks, although I'm not familiar with areas of the game or the dungeons so I'm not 100% sure what everything you said was, lol.

    - Craglorn I don't have a clue how to get there.
    - Wrothgar, do I need to pick up a quest/bounty for the world bosess? Or are they just at set locations that I can hang out near and wait for a group?
    - Imperial City, how do I actually get there? I thought you could only get in IC when one faction holds all the 6 keeps around the city, which seemingly never happens.
    - How much gold can be made in Wrothgar? I think I only have 27K.

    Cheers

Craglorn you get access too once you complete your faction main story quests or you can find someone in your guild who is already there and just travel to player to them for the wayshrine, I would get to atleast VR10 or 12 before going to craglorn though. I would just complete your factions storyline quests and then get the starting story quest that takes you to craglorn to do the craglorn story quests, you will probably need a group. With a good player and the right build a lot of craglorn can be solo'd but group is usually needed for most.

The dungeons, just use lfg tool and learn them with pug groups, it can be fast and quick or hard and long depending on groups, I suggest you watch youtubers guides like deltiasgaming to learn your class and what to do in dungeons. The undaunted dailies are quests you pick up daily and gives you challenges to complete in dungeons, if you complete the extra objectives you get silver/gold keys that you can use for rare dungeon gear but dont use the keys until you are max level. You can look up undaunted pledge quests and locations on google.

Wrothgar dailies you need the orsinium DLC or be a subscriber, again guides on google search but you pick them up from quest givers, then the other 5 boss dailies you need you just wait for someone to speak up in zone chat that they have the quest and everyone joins that group for boss and shares the quest with each other, repeat for all world boss's. They give ALOT of exp in a short space of time.

Imperial city you need the DLC or be a subscriber, you get there by joining your pvp campaign as normal in cyrodiil and travelling to IC, it should be on your map. Pick a campaign where you have more numbers.

A crap ton of gold can be made in wrothgar depending on how much you play. For example farming VR16 mats and selling them can make you 100k gold very easily, You can also farm motifs, treasure maps and sell those to players for alot of gold. You can also make a lot of money if you are a crafter selling the new crafted 9 trait sets to people or performing crafting services for people, tips range form 2k-25k depending on what and how much your making for them, they ususally supply the materials and just pay a ty tip.

If you do all the quests in Cadwell's Silver and Gold you will probably be V14 or V15 when done. Then there are quests in Craglorn and Orsinium, and then quests in IC and Cyrodil if you venture into PvP land. You could also do the WW and vamp quests, getting cured of one to do the other.

There is plenty of content to level up by questing alone even without the dailies or group content. And we have Thieves Guild coming out very soon.

I just did this yesterday and was pretty much 1 vet level worth of exp.

6 World Boss Dailies In Orsinium / Wrothgar
1 Delve Daily In Orsinium / Wrothgar

    1 Silver Undaunted Dungeon daily
    1 Gold Undaunted Dungeon daily

Farm VR16 leather from mobs + loads of stuff to decon + gold in a wrothgar farming spot, kill mobs for an hour or so.

That was pretty much 1 Vet level with a lot of variety and little amount of grind.

For Vet gear I used v1 crafted (epic) to v5 then v5 to 10 then another at 14 before upgrading to v16. Now, you could likely get away with using v1 to v10 to 16 since its been so watered down. Also, consider grinding in IC Sewers in order to lvl while obtain items to unlock a chest at v16 and possibly score some major upgrade jewelry.
