I have couple friends who ask about this game if it's good or bad. I didn't want to answer. I just couldn't. Even I couldn't mention about forums because I know the moment I mention about it, they would just run away without looking back again. It's toxic. People are rightfully crying all over in forum about game balance, bugs, lag/performance and such..
I love this game and want it to become better and populated but...I cant help you. You have to fix this mess ZoS. Please do so. You have such a great game in your hands and you letting it die overtime. Just listen your loyal playerbase, talk with us, read subforums(especially pvp ones) and act goddammit!

If my friends asked me, I'd honestly tell them both the good and the bad parts of the game to the best of my ability, let them make up their own minds.

I'd probably add the reasons why -I- consider it the best I played so far, despite several... uhm... suboptimal details.

I might also warn them of the forums, how many people seem to spend their time here whining instead of playing the game, but I would expect them to know about the internet, and what it can do to people posting from behind the cover of anonymity...

Of course, being an habitual sociophobe, my friends are usually of the imaginary sort (and the few who aren't play other games last we spoke) ;)

I already invested some time into this game, so it's not so easy to leave as it would be if I played it for a week or so. But right now I simply don't see any light at the end of the tunnel. Time is running out.

Tbh. I experienced some of the pvp issues the other night, and it was attrocious and close to unplayable. I guess if you like to zerg a lot in pvp, this game is just bad.... otherwise it is in general very enjoyable, specially the small scale pvp and duelling.

My friends are pvp freak and i would say them no dont play cuz im %100 sure they would stop playing after few hours of cyrodiil experience cuz they wont tolarate more than 100 ping in pvp and under 50 fps. Already lots of friends of mine stop playing looong time ago. Also classes very unbalanced. And for pve it gets boring after few week...

Same. Never had any problems with WoW (or any other mmo) that lead to as many complaint post as I've made here. The only game that's made me complain this much was a turn based battle mobile game (Heroes of Dragon Age).

You both made me realize this. In no other MMO i played for more than a month i have ever posted anything on forums and i was usually visiting them just to see patch notes (if at all). ESO is first mmo where i felt on one hand some kind of commitment to the game and huge amount of frustration on the other that made me start posting - sadly mostly complains.

With time, i caught myself spending more time on forums than in game! Thats really bizarre.

Was about to write same thing. TMW you know something is flat out broken and you see everyone is talking about how broken it is, but devs do nothing about it for months. Not a good thing when you love the game. Call it lag or fps issues or game balance, bad mechanics whatever, they all counts in.
I understand that a pve player can't recognise the problem as a pvp player do, so that i understand negative comments in thread. But obvious is obvious, cyrodiil is unplayable for a long time.

This forum is not toxic, whiney maybe but not toxic, go look at Archeage forums if you need to see a difference. The 3 times I've asked for help here I've had great advice. As said before, every game has unhappy players, if your friends have played any other mmo I'm sure they'd be aware of this.

As of the issues in PvP well they need addressing asap, it should be high priority as it seems to be the biggest complaint, unhappy customers eventually move on and that's bad for everyone.

The bugs are certainly there, many having been since Beta. Some fixed, others take their place. Imbalance? How do they approach it? Well... rather than fixing broken abilities they just reduce the overall functionality of other classes. It's not surprising, they had a small team who actually did work on the game engine code, and from what I understand most of those devs were either moved onto something else or let go after their work was perceived to reach a satisfactory level of completion for their human overlords in management.

As with such proprietary development, I am skeptical this leaves much opportunity for peer code review or static analysis at this point, just my opinion, but that's probably why there's not much momentum in bug fixing these days. Personally I prefer to see a company rely more on standardized and widely available engine tools which offer upstream support rather than attempting to reinvent the wheel by rolling their own for no apparent reason. Just look at Star Citizen using CRYEngine 4, for example, even hiring some of the original engine developers and putting them on the team rather than completely redoing everything. Priority decisions are always heavily weighed by funding, and seeing something totally crowd funded like that really shows a different world as far as development decisions are made. I think it's pretty interesting.

Maybe its just the nature of the posts.

There are some well composed thoughts about bugs and/or issues and there are others that look like they are made by Jo-Jo the monkey boy raging because he's forced to wear clothes.

    Big difference.

The WOW forums, to their credit, did allow for people to see a linked character/gear/etc. At least you would know that the person posting had at least some experience and the many L2P issues could be sorted rather quickly. Also, if I remember correctly, the WOW forums were heavily moderated. Multiple threads about the same issue were not allowed, if you had a problem with an issue that was already posted you learned to post in the thread already assigned to that issue. Unlike here where you can have 10 different thread titles talking about the same thing.

Edit: I strongly believe the culture of a forum is cultivated in certain directions by focused moderators and community leaders. If not, they all look like garbage, look at unofficial forums for evidence.

This is funny...I haven't been playing more than a couple weeks so far, and haven't seen any of these problems, really. So far it's been fun, and hopefully will continue to be. The PVE aspect of ESO alone would be a great game. The bugs and balance issues that are complained about constantly here are all PVP-focused discussions. Yes, there are some PVE bugs with quests and such, but these exist in every game I've ever played.

A person can have a great time playing this game without ever stepping foot in Cyrodiil.

Okay the game isn't perfect but can you name me one MMO that is? They don't exist.

Yes I have had my frustrations while trying to find what class/weapon/race combo I wanted play but if someone who was a gamer was asking me for a game rec. I would tell them to grab this up. I fell in love with the "action style combat" in Tera and I have always been a quest junkie.

I fell in love with larger scale PVP in Scarlet Blade and I was thrilled to find it here the addition of IC, which is smaller scale then Cryodill is a cool concept. I can't speak much about PVP because I have yet to really get my hands dirty with it but I was excited by the PVP aspect when i was looking at the game deciding if I was going to play.

I can't wait to check out the new arena and have been debating whether or not to try it once everyday or every other while i level but I will likely wait till the vet levels for my own personal reasons.

I wouldn't mind if they left the vet ranks alone but i am cool with the removing of them as long as it is done right DON'T RUSH IT

The game to me is one of the best on the market and i am having fun with all my experiments and look forward to the higher levels. I had been waiting on Blade and Soul and now that release is finally happening I have watched the class intro videos and such and I am not as excited as before. ESO is my home for now at least. I am a realist and know I might switch games one day but i forsee playing this game a while and that means I would indeed tell a friend to play if they asked about it or if I knew they were into gaming

Well stated. I really wish they would have made IC more like Darkness falls in DaoC, where control of the area was based on open PvP objectives and if a non controlling faction member died in the area they couldn't resurrect themselves inside (they could be rez'd by another player though). PvP'ers would rush in and kill all the other faction members and it'd be clear for PvE'ers other than the occasional player that logged out inside only to log in later to attempt a gank or two.

This also helped retain the value of items found within the area and made ownership important. PvEers would port out to a keep to maintain control.

As long as PvP remains as an add on, largely existing separate from the rest of the world in rewards and consequences for its outcome there will be an unofficial divide, almost to the point of being two separate games. When they clash as they do in the current version of IC, it'll be atrocious.

    I'm rambling...

    I'm rambling...

I am not familiar with that game so I can't comment on the PVP just like I can't really comment on PVP in IC or Cryo just yet. I am looking forward to it but PVP isn't something i ever completely focus on so if I don't like it I will work towards the skill I want from the skill lines and then not PVP again. If I enjoy it I will PVP despite knowing I will die LOL.

I can say from comments I have seen it does seem like there needs to be adjustments to how things work between Cryo in IC from the PVP side of things. I am of the mind set that when PVErs venture in there they should expect PVP (I may not always like getting ganked in fact I hate it, but it also a fact a life in those zones and I understand that.) I think that will helpme enjoy it a little more even though I likely will curse and scream after getting ganked multiple times.

I disliked how Archeage got but right before quitting that game I jumped into the larger PVP that had objectives like caputuring stones or whatever to build points and I love that PVP aspect. Scarlet blade had those same type of objectives. I think that is why the idea of Cryo when I was first looking into this game sparked my interest. (I can't say how it will actually work for me, but I am willing to give it a chance)

I am also glad you found my statement well stated hehe
