Why is there no necromancer type class? Is it not in the "lore" of the game?

To all those saying a necromancer class would be against the lore:
Do I have to mention Abnur Tharn? no? Okay. Because he helps you until the end of the game, so please, stop saying that.

If you don't want to play as a necromancer, that is okay. But there are many people who want this class in the game, or skill line, or guild skill line, or by spellcrafting. This class or at least the option to play as a necromancer was expected to come with the launch of the game. Most people said they would add a necromancer shortly after with the updates.

Well, here we are TWO years later and we're still waiting for a necromancer. It's just logical that we can play as one, the game is plagued by them, ZoS can invent whatever they want to make it lore-wise.

So it is against the rules to summon a skeleton, but it is okay to be a Vampire, or a Werewolf, or even summon creatures from Oblivion with Daedric Summoning. Is that your only reasoning against a necromancer class? really?

Have you ever played games like Age of Conan? Necromancer was a perfectly balanced class. Hell, they can add any class or skill line they want and make it balanced, they know what they're doing, they are the developers, not the people in this forum.

And no, nightblade "siphoning" is not necromancy, sorcerer "daedric summoning" is not necromancy. We're talking about debuff skills, about reanimating corpses and summoning undead creatures, which bodies are filled with souls extracted from the depths of Coldharbour. A headless zombie, a skeleton archer, you get the thing.

Personally i want the option to be there. If there is people who don't want to play it, simply don't. You can keep playing the same classes you've been playing for 2 years if you like.

I expect this class to land of the game with the Dark Brotherhood expansion or later in this year, but yes this is the year we will finally have necromancy. The only thing i want is that they get it done right.

Also, are they going to add any new classes? I would think the game is doing well financially with the ports to consoles etc.

Theres all sorts of classes that arent in the game. Necromancy is kind of explainable as its a pretty dark magic revolving around taking control of the dead. Sometimes this involves dragging the soul back to its body as its still tied to it like an anchor.

Imagine someone walking around your town known for something that your society thought was evil and a spit in the face of the Divines? You wouldnt want the guy around either and you surely wouldnt want him as your hero.

I don't think necromancy fits because it was banned by the mages guild, wasn't it? And we work pretty closely with the mages guild throughout the storyline

I would like to add that ZoS recently conducted a small survey on Facebook asking players what kind of "pet summoning" class we would like to see in ESO. Nearly 80% of the people said: Necromancer.

as I posted in other threads, necromancy is a part of this game as much as any other form of casting. how many times do you deal with it in quests? how many worm cultists have you killed? we have vampires and werewolves, lets have necromancy too.

Necromancy as a world skill line? Sure.
Necromancy as a class? I prefer not.

all I have to say to add to this conversation is when the game starts you are in jail... no one knows for what truly could be you are a bad guy or were a bad guy/necromancer imprisoned for being bad. then be broken out of jail and switch sides but have all the former darker side knowledge and skills... Plot twist o.o

That's the start of Oblivion; at the start of ESO, you're trapped in Coldharbour, because Mannimarco killed you and stole your soul. ESO is actually the only TES game where the circumstances leading up to the game's start are known.

but just because Mannimarco murders you & sucks out your soul doesn't mean you were a good person to begin with, right?

Very true you could have been working for him, and messed up so you basically lose some of your memory but don't bother to mention what you really are to the others. Then you punish mannimarco in fact they could work the main quest into the necromancer class, where it has special diologe for it, it would be epic, and also necromancer costumes to go with it." Okay people its time to put on your black skull covered robes, and desecrate the dead ;) As well as kick daedric butt.

Necromancer is just a puny sub-class, yo'all just joining this herd that shouts for Necro class without even thinking it through. I've written numerous posts about it and how it shouldn't be a fresh new class, rather a new ability tree, which would be fine.

I think the easiest way to express my thought is that ESO's classes are more complex than in other MMOs, meaning that one class here stands up for several more - each class can do several things. What would Necromancer class do? Summon things and possibly ressurect dead bodies, that's it. There's nothing more to it, what a perfect class for clueless people who just wanna run around with 20 pets. :/

As much as I am for all kinds of new content and classes, Necromancer is just such a bad idea for a class compared to other classes that we currently have.

Well, unlike the other classes we have necromancer would be one of the best, because it has cool ablities, that the others lack, well nightblades are cool and dragonknights but people want more. Still we lack ice magic other then staffs. Necromancer would be the perfect class to implement. Finnally if they do add it I can raise zombies out of the ground and summon flesh atronachs which I think many people really to see and do.
Well from what I read from someone I think in this thread, is they had something on facebook asking which pet class you want to see and 80 precent went with necromancer. Many wannabe necromancers out there!
Well, it would come in three trees, differant from each other if they do add it http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/152125/new-class-necromancer-completed-skills-and-passives/p1 this is a good example of what someone put out there for it but I do think they need icey grave, abilties instead of any of the nightblade ablities he put into some of the skill line trees. that and some of the undaunted skills.
Now necromancer would relay on summoning the dead, freezing oppenents and cursing with plague or other abilties, like that. I would like to see this.
