Why did group finder fix fail?

It did. As long as you que for silver, that's ok. But when you try gold, it's useless. I qued today for Wayrest for 2 hrs in prime time and all I got was an incomplete group with 2 lvl 17 ppl. Twice.

Why something that works in all other games doesn't work in this one? And I don't take the argument about players. Players are the same as in other games and you still can find groups there via group finder for "vet" 4 man content.

Most proble,s come from not giving you the roles you need.... hard to do some things without a tank.... and people shouldn't put tank just because they are in heavy armor...

Also the bigger issue is scaling gear and lvls inefficiently for low lvls and their lack of end game skills needed for the lvl of content they are scaled to...

I also like to think in other games you are not freely able to trick the system into thinking you are a role your not and usually it scales players down opposed to up

People in this game are not educated in teh group tools yet.
They place every role possible, or none at all, so the group finder doesn't has a nice pool to begin with.
Also, i'm pretty sure they also place people in a sort of queue there, so i'd assume if you stop'd searchin' and started back, you'd go back to the end of the line.

But yea. feedback. thx for your time ~

If you were grouped with lvl 17's and waited 2 hours at prime time, you had your group mode set to normal. If you change that to veteran, you will be instanced with v1-v16 players for veteran Wayrest Sewers.
...also non veterans can not access veteran versions of dungeons, they can only enter and search for the normal versions of the dungeons, just being battle scaled to v16. Veteran versions of the dungeons are different in story/ quest, enemies and fights.

Why I don't use the group finder:
    • I dont know how to make it search for people/roles I am looking for.
    • The above is so important I am going to refer to it again.
    • For some reason, it really wants me and the other members of the group in a specific instance. I don't want that. I just want to make a group and then play the game how and where I want to play it.
    • Would be nice to have more filtering options (levels, guilds, in an ideal world achievements, etc).
    • It's just easier and more convenient for me to grab 3 other random people.

Not going to lie, was excited when they said the group finder would allow us to do these instance with cross-factions. Immediately upon trying to get a group together it was utter disappointment. I now just ignore it and will continue to do so until it is totally revamped.

Group finder has worked for me once, and it was before these so called "fixes." It's freaking worthless.

Listen I understand why you feel that way but you have to understand the objective that ZOS was or is going for (and they have yet to really achieve) is to streamline the process aND put into place systems that will facilitate payers of multiple level ranges to player together for mutual and relative benefits.

They want to create an incentive so that more players can play together and eliminate que times amongst other things.

What you really are asking for is some kind of board similar to ffxivs party finder (which is entirely seperate from its group finder) that allows you to post requests with specific requirements that you impose allowing those that fit the criteria you set to easily join.

There is a place for that feature but it was never going to be via the auto match making grouping tool. We have not been denied the ability to search for specific roles and level range, we simply have yet to be given a system to help expedite the process.

:D sorry but I am positive that my group window was showing the dungeon set to vet. Because I spent good amount of time staring at it. Which means not that I used it wrong, it means that the grouping tool doesn't show correctly how it is set.

Grouping tool seems to be working just fine. At least, we've used it to fill in a 4th player to a usual group. It's been fast, and scales to our level. The players pulled in have varied from poor to excellent. Never had a problem getting a dungeon completed due to the grouping tool.

    ^this

Only problem I have with group finder is user error. People saying they can do roles that they can't do. Would be nice to have more options and let those that want to group with specific people from other factions have their own tool so they don't interrupt it.

While it has its problems it is at least usable now.

The first thing to choose after you role is (normal or Vet)

The dungeon that you choose whether normal or vet is going to choose members based on the filter. So if you want to have vet dungeon (which is very different from a normal dungeon) you have to first select vet. If not then you're going to always be in a normal dungeon scaled to VR15/16

Edit: Don't confuse this with selecting a vet dungeon as that's not what I'm referring to.
The drop down that offers normal or Vet is what I'm referring to. The dungeon selector actually doesn't take you to a vet if the drop down isn't vet first.

Not sure about console, but on PC, people have got so used to managing without the LFG tool that it's hard to bring people back to using it, at least for people who've been playing for a long time.

Zone and guild chats let you specify what sort of members you're looking for much more accurately than LFG tool. And, in guilds, you know pretty much with whom you can group up peacefully and efficiently, and what - you consider as - min/maxing morons (or inversely non-efficient players) you have to avoid. LFG tools doesn't let you choose.

Plus, the number of players till running daily pledges is decreasing fast. We are bored by the old dungeons - and the two new ones are too hard to be attempted with strangers / PUGs.

Plus, the scaling system of the LFG tool looks hazardous to me.

And finally - but that's more a personal feeling - cross faction grouping feels really strange. I mean, I don't want to run with people from other alliances, they are "the enemy"...

No text chat and area voice chat can be a pain to listen to on console. I have been grouped with people from other Alliances that are playing in campaigns I'm in, it has been strange but kind of fun to.

When I was playing on PC the PvP guild I was in had people that played for multiple factions in it so playing with the enemy never bothered me as long as we were fighting for the same faction at the same time then I was fine with it.

People are using it on console like a PUG group from area chat sometimes you get a good group sometimes you don't. I don't bother trying to do CoA, IC Prison or WGT with group finder but I would give it a go for all of the other Vet Dungeons.
