Time for a gentle Melee tweak?

So, as a lot of people are aware right now, sharpened maces or sharpened mauls have a pretty big disparity in DPS over their bladed brethren. Now while it might not matter to everyone I feel like it's culling a lot of uniqueness away from the game (I do find it odd that the majority of leather-bound rogue like characters are wielding two bulky maces).

Anyway, it's probably about time melee options (twin blade and blunt/heavy weapons) gets streamlined a little. And by 'streamlined a little' I actually mean something that's probably not going to be met well on the forums... Maces and Mauls need a nerf (and the bleed on axes needs a genuine tweak). The power creep over the past few months has been downright unreal and with people using sharpened maces pulling over 25k single target dps and as such completely trivialising content, I don't think it would hurt anyone to tone it down a little (say a flat amount of armour penetration ... sayyyy 3960 for mauls and 1480 for each hammer (at v16 that's a 6% boost to damage... or 1% higher than the boost from swords, except it only applies to physical damage)

Quickly moving away from the fact that I just suggested a nerf to a lot of peoples go to weaponry - axes... the bleed is a total mixed bag at the moment, relatively strong in some encounters. Literally useless in others, the simple solution would be to simply not have anything immune to bleed damage (probably not the way to go though). What I'd like to propose is a 'deep wounds' system that works the same as the current debuff from the nightblade ultimate except closer to the tune of 8% increased damage and with a proc-chance and duration to keep it in line with other weapons.

I remember reading somewhere that all monsters will be susceptible to bleed in the next patch and i'm assuming the 100% proc chance will be fixed.

Magicka builds get nirn weapons so sharpened maces shouldn't be a problem ^^

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

My post wasn't saying maces are OP, I was saying that if you're looking to do dps with melee weapons there's a major disparity between sharpened maces and the rest. Like a build that does 15k dps with two precise daggers will do 20k dps with two sharpened maces with no other changes.

So it's going from nerf to "gentle tweak" now :)

Yes yes, I know the call out on maces is probably unpopular, but to be fair, have you seen the state of power creep?

    complete ***.

I use precise weapons OVER sharpened weapons because it's more DPS. Do your math! And I do not know of any other Stamina DPS who pulls as much DPS in PvE as I do. So I call this thread out for being misleading and wrong on many levels. If you don't know how to utilize Critical Strike Change and Critical Strike Damage the problem is you ... nothing else.

so on a boss like manti ... With 0 other debuffs sharpened will give you a DPS increase of 5,04% ... with raid debuffs it is already less. And Precise gives you 7 % Crit. With utilizing Critical Damage correctly the Crit will be superior.

Same applies for 2 Maces which will give you ~7,5% increased DPS (with raid debuffs less) compared to two daggers which will give you 10% Crit. Again the Crit is superior.

The differences between the end result in DPS of Daggers / Maces / Axes are very slight but depending on your itemization one of them will come out stronger than the others. Best way to go is to invest everything into Crit and Crit Damage. This seems very balanced to me. No need to change at all.

So this is another magicka user saying nerf stamina users just cause WB is OP and axes are bugged and golden sharpen mace gives a good bit of physical resistance and no body cares. But when a stamina user wants magicka users such as ambush or crystal frag spammers nerf every body flips tables.

So it's clear ZOS and a majority of the community hates Dragon Knights, Templars, heavy armor, and stamina users.
