Lately I have noticed a huge issue with latency spikes in ESO. I will see latency go from 89 to 999 for about 10-20 secs, the game interaction sometimes freezes up and then it goes back to normal.
I have run speed tests, trace routes and the likes on my end and with my ISP with positive results, so I know my end is good. I also have edited my firewall(s) and AV settings to allow for the game to be unhindered.
I can play any other MMO with no issues and little latency spikes (spikes happen i understand that).
SO...
ZOS please take some time during 2016 to invest in server and ISP upgrade and support.
These spikes have been with the game since patch 1.6 but you can't tell ZOS that. Its funny how we players will notice bugs with the game after a patch and yet ZOS think we just dreaming up things. It's my opinion that ZOS don't consider it their issue. Before 1.6 my ping to NA was in the 60ms, and my EU ping was around 120ms. After the 1.6 patch my NA ping is 120-140ms avg, and my EU ping is 240-260ms. EXACTLY double on avg increase ever since 1.6 patch was release. Also I get plenty of the spikes to 300, 500, 999ms. Why? Oh I know ZOS, you will just blame it on the ISP that I'm with. Perhaps it's some sort of anti-cheat software that snoops on the packets cuasing it all to be delay? Of course this the only mmorpgs I play that has these issues but you can't prove that to ZOS.
How about people accept this... what ZOS "advertised" is clearly not technologically possible otherwise they would have resolved it by now. Also, it is NOT ZOS 'giving away a million dollars' out of their budget... and I also doubt ZOS has the financial capability to add extra servers after they just closed their customer service center overseas when their CS is already at an all-time low.
It should be quite clear by now that ZOS will never be able to provide 'lag free' PvP... so why people keep complaining is beyond me because if it hasn't been fixed by now, it never will be. People keep mentioning adding extra servers, yet ZOS continues trying to fix it by making combat adjustments- so clearly it isn't a server issue if they aren't even considering that route, unless it does boil down to budgetary constraints.
It always amazes me when people continue to hold ZOS to things they said years ago... when clearly they had bitten off more then they could chew, which became even more clear when they had to take an extra year just to get the console versions to work. So continuing to hold them to things they clearly, IMO, will never be able to deliver on is just pointless... if you aren't happy with the game, then move on... but constantly complaining with the expectation of a resolution to the lag problem is just wasting time and tying up forum space. Also keep in mind that ZOS wouldn't be the first gaming company to advertise things about their game that they weren't actually able to deliver... many times the best laid plans just cannot ever be fulfilled.

I know some have said they are going to play Blade-n-Soul and also Black Desert Online when it launches... and in all honesty I think I will be checking out Black Desert.

I'm not here to tell you what game to love or hate, what game to play or not play, or the game you most forward to. However, keep in mind that BDO is all about PvP once you're endgame. My opinion is not good for BDO, now at least, I was looking forward to it as well, but I have since learned the truth during beta testing. I have a real HUGE issue with the lack of good story in the game, and a even LARGER issue with the asian style flashy round them all up and beat them in face combat that is whole of the game. In addition, I was also put off 100% by the major long hold-my-hand game forcing me to learn and play through its tutorial. Anyways, if BDO the game for you? Congrats, but don't make out like it's the end-all be-all ESO conquring beast that it isn't and won't EVER be... It will go the way of that other one ... what was it called ... Sorry I must search it up. Ah yes Archage.

My theory is still that they keep reducing server capacity (hardware) to save money. So although they try to fix lag it will get worse and worse because there is just not enough servers.
Some say the anti cheat program is responsible for that when they moved it from client side to server side, while it is VERY effective (as you do almost see no bots) it comes at a high cost
Those of you too young (in game) do not realize that in beta and in the months when the game first came out there were massive sieges 10x larger than now (due to forward camps), with virtually no lag, yet everyone still spammed myriad skills, etc. How can this be? Ask ZOS. Someone else once posted that they suspected that ZOS's preoccupation with bot controls seriously slowed the servers, which may explain it. I would rather have 1,000 farmer bots if it let us have the old wars back.

They said they're looking at why they think the CP system is causing lag in azuras star

They keep saying they think they know what the cause is, but there has been 0 improvement since the lighting patch and the BOT fixes. I'm of the opinion that they know how big of a rollback they'd need to fix the problem, and just aren't willing to.

This is what happens when the devs decides to give a million away instead of upgrading equipment.
Actually, this game wasnt built around big PvP battles at all. And,no it isnt in the name description. The game title is:
"The Elder Scrolls Online".
Not "The Elder Scrolls PvP Battles Online".
It was made for people who wanted questing, and PvP was added along the way.
