300 ESO Customer Service Employees Let Go

Thats one of the cons of big corpo world - you don't do what is good for you and your employees like in small or medium companies(or startups). You do what is good for your shareholders.

But these corpos have one thing other companies don't - ample amounts of money. They can do a lot more a lot faster than any other kind of company.

I do not know why exactly these people were fired, I just know this is in connection with money. Do not blame ZOS managers, blame bankers.
    When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Wow, ZOS... rather than pay your employees' salaries you'll give away a million dollars to a random player? And fire them right before Christmas?

    That's just cold :(

It's been mentioned multiple times on this thread already by me, Gina and a few others, they were not fired, the contracts expired. It's left to the discretion of the company to renew it. They were hired to aid in the console launch and they knew it would not be permanent.

They probably got laid off due to "lack of work" so they can still collect unemployment insurance. I presume they have that in Ireland. I honestly don't know. So they will be fine. They are probably going to be relieved to stop having to tell a bunch of nerds that they can't do a damn thing about anything and have a couple weeks off to be honest.

Look I used to work for a big corporation and nobody just fires 300 people from the same place because they were doing a bad job. So all the people who are like "aha! we knew they were doing a bad job this whole time, finally they are listening to us, the VR16 consumer"

It was probably planned out, a long time coming, and had very little to do with performance and long-term outlook and financial forecasts. lol people are feeling vindicated thinking this justifies their nerd rage over something they feel entitled to. hah.

Yeh that is pretty rough. Maybe they are doing it to try to meet some kind of year end goal. That is the only reason I can think of to lay people off right before Christmas.

Though, do the Irish even celebrate Christmas?

I LOVE the irish, there's a group that come across to our car show/weekender , they are freaking hilarious just the most utterly random funny people i have ever met.

Something about women with irish accents too....

    Hi, everyone.

Please remember to keep your comments respectful at all times on our forums, even when you disagree with others, and to stay on topic. Derailing a thread can be construed as spam, and other disruptive behaviors do not help further discussion and can move a thread off topic quickly. We encourage sharing opinions, but we ask that they are constructively stated when doing so, as this will help keep the discussion on track.

Lol yes we celebrate Christmas. But religious? Maybe 20 years ago.

Thought Ireland was quite heavily religious?

Least that's what the few Irish mates I've got have said.

Don't come to england, can't even have Christmas nativity plays in most of our schools....

Ireland use to be very heavy into Catholicism, but maybe things have changed

    Hi everyone,

Following the successful console launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited in June, we have a thriving console and PC online community. We adjusted customer support levels in mid-August by reducing staffing by approximately 50 people to reflect the game’s stability and the needs of our players. This is a normal practice. We have been diligently working with the IDA, and the employees affected by this decision since the summer. We are disappointed by the inaccuracies in the report of the Connacht Tribune.

I was right about the media part. NEVER TRUST THE MEDIA EVER

Actually religion is thriving in the UK these days, although it's called Islam now

Agreed. Used to live I'm seven kings I'm east London with my ex partner, the local shop parade (6 in total were all in islamic, even everything inside was written in islamic couldn't even tell what half the tins of food were...

Nearest shop to actually go and buy products with English writing on them was a petrol station half a mile or so away.

    The language is called "arabic".

And your point is...? Are true brits (tm) somehow being prevented from setting up shop in your neighbourhood?

My point is you go into our capital city, and in some areas can't find anyone that speaks English or even shops in english.

Yeah, but why does it bother you? No offense, but you write as an immigrant yourself, and half illiterate to begin with. They, at least, might have their arabic labels right.

I'm born and bred english thanks, my spellings [snip] as I'm using a mobile phone, but if you feel the need to start throwing insulting comments at me then please start it in private messaging.

As to why it bothers me, and large majoriry, maybe the fact that I know quote a large number of people that have been laid off for immigrants that are willing to work for much less money, maybe it's because the only foreigners I've met have been extremely rude, many of them criminals, and some of them are extremely disgusting people.

[Moderator Note: Edited per our rules on Cursing & Profanity]

There's quite a lot of disgusting English people that I've seen too. I never feel like there's nowhere I can't be in London. Not for one second.

You sound like the Daily Mail. This is also hardly on topic now, is it?

Agreed. Surprised this thread wasn't locked tbh

I really wonder what the profits are for ZoS... curious if there is a way to find all this out. I personally work for a Small time Cable company and last year we lost about 200 people across the board. So losing 300 employees isn't small regardless of how many people you employee.

No the game is doing so well they released a free play weekend, had a million dollar giveaway, reduced the game to around $30 because everyone bought a copy.... And that's why the staff got fired - because they had nothing to do because the game is so great that there are no bugs to complain about or submit tickets for. I can see that too now....

You do know that Free play weekend is very normal thing for mmo if want to promote themself and beside it is not ZoS that gave away 1 million dollar is you read fine it is BETHESDA SOFTWORKS LLC that is gave away the money not ZoS you do know that all mmo where you need to buy a copy do lower the price on there game heck even WoW do so dont think it is a unique thing just for ZoS also many game company lower there price on all the game close to big holiday and last time i check which was just few min ago it is only 4 day left to many big holiday of the year which is Christmas eve

This is actually pretty typical with MMO's. New MMO comes out and has lot's of bugs and issues. Customer service reps are hired to handle customers contacting support. Over time, the issues get fixed, people stop contacting customer support and customer reps are laid off.

They didn't lose anything lol. Those "employees" had a contract for 6 months which expired. They are not needed anymore, simple as that. If anything it seems ZOS has too much money to throw it around like that.

Wow... and to think this same location suffered a huge number of layoffs earlier this year, now they're laying off almost everyone else. Considering they had that many people working their an CS was still bad, makes you wonder what it will be like now. Kind of scary when you think about it... and really makes you wonder what the player game retention actually is. I said that the million giveaway sounded like a last ditch desperate attempt to attract new players... perhaps there is more reality to that then we know.
