Throat of the world?

Im curious, when Zenimaxs Dev team eventually releases the rest of Skyrim, should we expect the (Throat of the World) to be included?
With the size of Skyrim in the single player game, id almost expect this mountain to be a dlc just by itself. :smile:
Im really hoping that they dont end up turning it into some tiny hill with no way to climb up it.

    Considering they have an entire continent (Tamriel) to cover, most people assume that at some point they will release Skyrim in its entirety. But I doubt the game will make it that long.

    Well, technically, the mountain already is in the game. If you visit Ivarstead in The Rift, you can begin your journey up the 7,000 steps. However, as soon as you make a few turns along the path, you are greeted with fallen trees and road blocks that prevent you from going any further. It's kind of disappointing, I know. :/

    First off they better releases the rest of my homeland. Second if they do add the Throat don't be expecting to climb it to High Hrothgar and learning any shouts. Few reasons.

    1. It takes years of studying and devotion of learning even a single out of the 3 words of 1 shout of power.
    2. I doubt the Greybeards are gonna happily teach the shouts to players who are just gonna abuse the powers which goes against everything the "Way of the Voice" stands for.
    3. Balancing shouts would take forever cause some shouts such as unrelenting force or storm call are kinda OP.
    4. No Parthanax. Yes he is a dragon in the 2nd ear but the world doesn't know that and they don't need to know that.

    So yes to seeing more Skyrim no to climbing to High Hrothgar unless it's for a pilgrimage.

    I would imagine so!

    I believe ZOS said that they intend to slowly fill in the entire map of Tamriel which would suggest that the Throat of the World will be added.

    If this does end up happening my personal guess is that after a few more DLCs they will start adding the oldest one to the base game each time a new one is released much like WoW has done with older expansions. For example if Vvardenfell came in Q4 2016 they would add that and also add Orsinium to the base game so it no longer had to be purchased.

    But who knows? We just have to wait and see.

    If they make Skyrim as it was in TESV (geographically speaking of course) they would have to do the same with every other locale in Tamriel to be fair, and that would increase the size of the game by at least 10 times. They had to cut something somewhere and frankly mountain climbing isn't what it was in TESV so I'm not worried about things like this lol

    Besides they have to give us Whiterun first :p

    Seeing it's much, much higher than that other place in The Rift that is so cold it slows you and you take damage just from being away from a fire, I see it as being an incredibly deadly thing to climb...

    The entrance to High Hrothgar is already in the game. It's blocked by an avalanche in The Rift.

    As to if it'll be unblocked? Who knows? But I assume the Greybeards would not be that welcoming of outsiders who aren't Dragonborn.

    While it hasn't been officially axed Spellcrafting is somewhat on the back burner. the original concept had you running errands for the Mages Guild and uncovering tablets.

    But I always wondered if they ever planned on finishing it at some point if they could work in missions for the Graybeards, or having ol Parth teach you the spell glyphs (deviations of the Dragon Tongue that the ancient Nedes modified for their own use developing spells) Parth does mention he used to train people long time ago but stopped centuries before the events of Skyrim. He probably won't be inclined to teach the Thu'um to any non-dragonborn, but he might offer knowledge of spell glyphs to players in exchange for keeping the world safe and protecting the mountain.

    There's a bit of lore somewhere that the Elves are trying to destroy the 6 towers of Creation. I think by the events of Skyrim, the Throat of the World is the last one still standing. If the ELves can destroy it somehow they can remake the world in their image. Hence why they were so bent on civil unrest in Skyrim. Without the Nords able to defend their sacred mountain, the Elves can take over.

    Parth and Nahfahlaar are the only dragons that would still be alive in the Interregnum, aside from prerhaps Vulthuryol in Blackreach. There's no way we'll see dragons en masse in ESO but I could see questlines or DLC being based around those two.

    Actually I just took a look at a map of Skyrim in TESV and I take back what I said.

    The east side of Skyrim in this map can easily pass as a 2nd Era version that we currently play in TESO. If they do expand Skyrim then the western portions will be included!

    This is the most up to date map of Tamriel in TESO I could find but as you can see there is plenty of room for the rest of Skyrim :)

    The Nedes have nothing to do with Dragons. You might be confusing them with the Atmorans.
    Also, our characters have no idea that there is a dragon at High Hrothgar. And even if they did, it's not like the Greybeards would let you see him (at first, even the Dragonborn wasn't allowed to see him), they probably wouldn't even let you inside their monastery.
    Yes, there is a theory that by 4E 201 the Thalmor are trying to reach divinity, by unmaking Mundus, which can be obtained by destroying the Towers (Probably). Although there are still a few left standing by 4E 201. The ones we know were destroyed are: Red Mountain, Crystal-Like-Law, Orichalc Tower, Walk-Brass. White-Gold might have been reactivated due to Martin's sacrifice. Snow-Throat, Green-Sap, Ada-Mantia are still active though. It also believed that Talos became a Tower once he achieved divinity.
    There are plenty more Dragons alive during the 2nd Era.
    • Nahfahlaar- Also known as Nafaalilargus. His last known protector was the King Casimir II of Wayrest, which the Dragonguard successfully ended in 2E 369. He escaped and current location is unknown. He was later found working for Tiber Septim during his conquest of Tamriel;
    • Dragonne Papre - Known to live in the Battlespire during the 3rd. Under Samar Starlover's protection;
    • Skakmat - Resided in High Rock (Wrothgarian Mountains) during the 3rd Era. Under Nulfaga's Protection;
    • Paarthurnax - Known to lair on the Throat of the World. Under the protection of the Greybeards;
    • Mirmulnir - Last sighted in the Reach in 2E 212;
    • Ahbiilok - He is believed to be lairing somewhere in Morrowind;
    • Vulthuryol - Hiding in Blackreach;
    • Kruziikrel, Krosulhah, Relonikiv & Sahrotaar - Inside Apocrypha, Hermaeus Mora's Plane of Oblivion. Under Miirak's "Protection";
    • Voslaarum & Naaslaarum (Probably) - Hiding in The Forgotten Vale;
    • Durnehviir - Undead Dragon imprisoned in The Soul Cairn. Not sure if he counts.
    These are the ones we know, there probably were more who survived, since Tiber Septim made a pact with a few Dragons. Numinex was driven mad by many years of loneliness and captivity which eventually caused his death, I doubt he survived in those conditions for ±3082 years.

    well I do believe, that when they ever release Skyrim DLC, it would have to be similar to the one from the previous game, as the cities would be different, it is an another previous era, but the mountains and old temples should remain the same. there even may still be some dragons that are awake even in this era, so we will see!! dragons!! want!!!

    Hey @runagate! So do I! Here is a fun thread discussing those possibilities!

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/149340/hopefully-someday-we-will-travel-all-of-nirn/p1

    regarding the OP... I would love to know what happened with the map. I understand it's a lot of info to assimilate and include and mistakes will happen. Overall ZOS has done a wonderful job with Tamriel but I wish ZOS would be more reactive when we point out map errors. I know things can't be fixed immediately but ZOS SHOULD make it a priority to rectify errors.

    A good example is the Imperial City map being crooked. They haven't addressed this, given us any excuses or have said they have plans to fix it. We are simply met with an unspoken "meh."
