ZOS wants you all in 24 man groups.

Todays patch.

Adjusted several abilities to improve the performance in Cyrodiil. The following abilities or item set abilities will now only apply their buffs to allies who are in your group, rather than all nearby allies:
Exploitation
Hemorrhage
Illuminate
Meritorious Service
Mountain’s Blessing
Powerful Assault
Restoring Aura
Radiant Aura
Restoring Twilight

So organised groups are going to get the full benefits and randoms like myself aren't. Genius.
No mention of whether there's still a range component or if the buff applies to all group members anywhere on the map.

    As a Templar who plays healer/support I'd like to be able to help the casual players who show up to help siege/defend keeps. Well now they won't be getting my Illiuminate buff but the organised group we're up against will have it. In fact I'd like to help everyone close by but now two of my buffs are group only.

    If these skills are an issue just replace them don't limit them to just group members. If the cause of lag is clustered groups why add an incentive to group?

    @twogirls_onebenny I'll play how I want to play, sometimes solo sometimes in a group. Not your place to tell me how to play.

    This may actually help break up zergs (slightly) and improve performance at the same time. I see both of those as good things.

    Group size is pretty huge in any case, so I doubt this will be much of an issue for the vast majority of players. It just kinda lowers the benefits of running around in a giant blob once you get beyond 24 people.

    The problem OP saying about is that ZOS forcing people to group up to use effective skills--> more people forced to grouping, bigger groups will run round Cyro, more lags.
    P.S.: :p ZOS. My templar will still run by himself.

    I cant even imagine what their chain of thought is leading to this change. Its *** beyond of every imagination to me. We told you what skills are leading to the performance problems ZoS, more then once. Also max "group" size and AoE caps are part of the problem.

    Whatever simulations you are running on your servers, they are wrong. I can assure you that those changes will change nothing, i would freaking bet my mother on it and i really love my momma. :(

    Most of them sets listed came with IC. Their fifth piece offers abilities that benefit allies around you (for example, casting an alliance war skill will give surrounding allies increased weapon and spell damage).
    I didn't mind it so much. Was nice to see something different added for a change, and for people who like supporting their group, they were a really great addition.

    Because as things stand now the set bonuses constantly apply buffs to any ally near you. That will obviously require constant calculations re. who is near you. Limiting the buff to just group members = much fewer calculations.

    It most certainly won't be a "fix" for lag, but it can't help but lower server load.

    These buffs are nice but not as important as people are making them to be. I doubt it really makes people have to run in groups now, people will still play how they do now because as I said these buffs really aren't that important.

    I don't like this change. This is only an attempt to remove symptoms, but the disease is still deep their in their code/whatever.

    What are you guys on about? 3% crit from that PuG Sorc spamming frags? Please. Nobody cares about that. This is not why people group and is not going to change anyone's mind who isn't already grouping up. People group up for a million other reasons.

    Remove all passive alliance wide AoE buffs. Remove all alliance wide smart heals. Remove anything that is triggering a million useless distance checks and client updates. This s*** is pounding the server 24/7 and it's stupid. It has no real gameplay value.

    Make AP work like TV stones... Reduce the max group size to 12... Remove AoE caps... Buff seige... These are the changes that might have some effect. These small passive AoE buffs that nobody gives a s*** about are not going to change anything. If anything the casual solo zerg will be even more squishy.

    Didn't you guys get the memo. Zos don't give 2 shts what are thoughts are on how to correct the issues that are in game right now. They rather have a bunch on devs that have no idea what's going on fix things that don't need to be fixed. ie removing the deer cuz it causes graphical issues and lag. Smfh.....
